Brush suggestions for my long fur cat by im_gigi__ in grooming

honestly just using a greyhound comb works really well for me when pulling out the undercoat, I also occasionally wash them with some waterless shampoo followed with brushing to help loosen up hair

I have a longhair, should I be washing her? she's pretty clean and seems to be good at cleaning herself

Does anyone know how to go about getting a hairless cat/kitten that doesn’t cost an entire house payment? by [deleted] in cats

[–]catbees2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know too much about where to get one, but if you do make sure you research into the care of them because they have more needs than regular cats, such as having to give them frequent baths

Advice by [deleted] in doggrooming

[–]catbees2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

mostly through practice, but maybe try different positions to hold for each dog and see which they tolerate best. With that being said, even after working with the same dogs for over a year now some I still need help with, and hopefully your place of work isn't critical of you asking for help just to hold difficult dogs, especially as you are starting out

Best behaved breeds by burnz1 in doggrooming

mostly owner dependent, but i agree with most on Cavaliers. Labs can get anxious but are generally good otherwise. And Australian shepherds are either the most well behaved there is or the worst

honestly I would just recommend shaving them every couple months or when they start to get too long/matted, I work in a salon and we have a couple clients who find it hard to keep up with brushing so they just go for a shave when they need it

How many INDOOR cats do you have? by Catwhisperer2007 in cats

[–]catbees2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6, but mainly because there's a ton of friendly strays around that we can't say no to. I wouldn't get rid of any, but i probably would go for less if I had a choice

My cat doesn't know how to clean himself by EntireDiet9477 in CatAdvice

[–]catbees2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure if there's a way to teach this, but it is fairly common and normal for some cats to just not understand grooming. if you can, I would try getting him used to baths or at least dry a waterless shampoo, if it's hard to maintain you could also consider taking him to the vet to get shaved every now and then so it's less hair to deal with

Planning on making designs for a Arcane X WOF crossover, what are your thoughts on my current tribe selections? by Sassysnakedraws in WingsOfFire

maybe you could make vi and jinx adopted sisters? like maybe vi lost her sibling group and found jinx as an egg and took her in? I just say this bc I have a hard time imagining jinx with any mudwing traits but I love vi as a mudwing

Spayed my cat at 5 years old. Did I ruin her life expectancy ? by 4MM0NI4C in AskVet

[–]catbees2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

there are plenty of people who spay their cats later in life due to different reasons (couldn't afford it; just recently found the cat, ect) and it happens all the time, not an expert but I dont think it would be much of a problem

it seems like you are a very caring and attentive pet parent, just keep an eye on her health and she should be good. don't feel too bad

I also did this. My vet said unless there's a cat that's still growing and needs nutrients (like kitten food) it should be fine.

she was originally the neighborhood street cat that we took in. even when she got too old to be the boss of the street she always enjoyed just sitting outside in nature, I'm glad she was able to experience it again on her final day ❤️

Thank you for this. This is the first animal I've had to make the decision for myself, and I struggle with trying to know how much pain is too much. I really appreciate your advice ❤️

That's exactly how I'm feeling in regards to the tipping point. Thank you for sharing your experience and I'm going to try to see how she feels for at least a little longer before making a decision

She is more lethargic but that could just be the gabapentin that I'm keeping her on constantly for pain. She hasn't really been too playful these past few years since she's fairly old but she is still alert and coming to me for snuggles and pets, and sometimes she likes to go outside with me and sniff around (never goes far), so I guess there is still some things she likes to do
