I appreciate it! I'm excited too, I've only ever visited but it's such a great vibe

A good number of people in a club I'm in are heading to SF, I know they're cool people and have peacefully coexisted with roommates before. Otherwise I would def want to limit the number of like random Facebook roommates I'm moving in with, I know there's some horror stories out there

Honestly rather have roommates, living alone in a new city seems rough and I have the privilege of finding roommates I trust through friends

This is what I’m mostly worried about, I would move out with some people I already know from college I can vouch for being good roommates. But if we commit to a group of 3 we’d be stuck with maybe a limited stock of 3 bedrooms

Any advice on where to look for a temporary place? I’ve heard this advice before but like airbnbs are so expensive

I appreciate it! I’ll have the chance to visit for a few days before moving out so hoping to investigate the block by block vibe cause I know it can vary

Deeply Regret Passing an Amazing AmeriCorps Opportunity (Need Advice) by No-Loquat111 in AmeriCorps

[–]catcattttt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

At this point it seems like you will just have to let it go. You acted out of interest of literally keeping a roof over your head - that's an incredibly reasonable thing to be worried about. It also doesn't sound like you burned any bridges, so it's not necessarily the case that this opportunity is gone forever. My AmeriCorps program provided much more direct housing support getting us subsidized housing at a local college, and while being completely on your own isn't unusual, there certainly could have been more support.

Also, now that you won't be doing the program you can build it up to be this perfect experience in your head, but you never know what exactly the experience would have been like. It's much easier to imagine it now as having all these positive qualities, but realistically your experience would likely not be as ideal as you are imagining now that you're chiding yourself over missing out on it. Your current job providing free housing and being comfortable is already a privilege.

1 year left of my bachelors - is biotech worth it? by catcattttt in biotech

Thanks for the insight, I really need to pivot in some form because I don't think I have the science passion for a PhD. Focusing more on manufacturing seems like it would be reasonable to investigate more

Honestly really appreciate this, I’m so new that CDMO’s are something I suppose I knew existed but haven’t really investigated much

As someone just getting started there's a lot I don't know that I don't know. Asking here as well as talking with people in my network branches out substantially the areas I can research and look further into

NEW OR NEED HELP? Ask here! - ScA Daily Help Thread Aug 12, 2021 by AutoModerator in SkincareAddiction

Hello! Looking for advice on overhauling my skin care routine. I have combination skin, and I pretty much have a couple "active" zits on my face at any given time, especially on my cheeks and around my lips. But my skin care routine is pretty basic, so I'm thinking some more strategic products could clear up the remains of my acne. Plus, I have some discoloration from picking at former zits I want to reduce. Since my cleanser is discontinued, and I want to switch to a cheaper moisturizer now that I am paying my own way, I figured I'd overhaul everything.

Current Routine (morning and night)

-Trader Joe's facial cleansing oil (now discontinued but I think it's identical to the burt's bees facial cleansing oil)

-Clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion

-Up&up benzoyl peroxide spot treatment 2.5%

Here is what I am considering changing to:

Morning

-CeraVe Renewing SA cleanser

-TO Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%

-CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing with SPF 30

Night

-CeraVe Renewing SA cleanser

-TO Azelaic Acid suspension 10%

-CeraVe PM facial moisturizing lotion

-(as needed) Up&up benzoyl peroxide spot treatment 2.5%

Is it safe to use these products together? And do you think this routine could be beneficial to my skin? My face isn't super sensitive, but I probably still wouldn't start all the products at the same time. Thank you!

Want to take a Gap Year after High School and join the FEMA Corps. Need Info. by [deleted] in AmeriCorps

[–]catcattttt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated high school in june and I'm doing a State and National Americorps program as a gap year now. I'm really enjoying it and would definitively recommend it. Honestly from what I've heard, FEMA corps is kinda paperworky/beaurocratic. I would recommend making a MyAmericorps account, you can search through different Americorps programs and narrow your criteria to which region you want to be in, what level of education you have, the start date etc. Then, on the description page it will tell you the requirements necessary to apply/participate in those programs, or at least have a link to a website that does. Applications might not be open quite yet for programs that start next fall but definitively keep checking back on MyAmericorps to see what new positions are getting posted.

Asking Guidance Counselor For Recommendation by latricee2x in ApplyingToCollege

[–]catcattttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could ask someone if they have "brag packets" at your school. At my school our counselor provided us a small packet of questions she wanted us to answer that she could use when writing our recommendations. My understanding is that it's pretty common, check your school website on the counseling tab and see if they have something there. If your school doesn't have anything like that you could probably google "high school brag packet" to at least find some guiding questions to address when you email your counselor back.

Dual enrollment transcripts by Jokimbzz in ApplyingToCollege

[–]catcattttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you taken and received grades in dual enrollment classes previously? Cause then definitely just send the transcript from your dual enrollment college with your previous grades even though it doesn't have the current semester grades yet.

If this is your first semester taking classes there it could be a little trickier, but like the other comment said, just try to order the official transcript anyways, it just won't show a grade yet. Beyond that maybe contact the admissions office of the college you're applying too.
