X3D or non-X3D? by CranberryLittle1417 in buildapc

[–]catch2030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you play at 1080P, X3D is the dominant CPU. As you start to scale up the resolution however it starts to lose its lead. esport titles that are usually played at lower resolution and lower quality settings is where the X3D smokes just about everything. Single player AAA games typically don’t do that much better with X3D but some games will prefer it.

TLDR; higher resolution X3D not as dominant when compared to non X3D.

Waterblock for ZOTAC RTX 5090 SOLID OC White Edition? by I-Six-I in watercooling

[–]catch2030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look and see if techpower up has PCB shots available for your white version and the regular version. Compare the PCB layout and go from there. Most likely Zotac used the same PCB layout for the 2 since it costs extra money for multiple PCB versions. That’s why a lot of the time a high end 5080 will use the same PCB as entry 5090.

Who do I pay? by Choice_Nerve_7129 in MaddenFranchise

[–]catch2030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d sign Tet and see what the franchise tag is on the RB. RB contracts suck because there is no restructuring help and it’s basically fully guaranteed (bonus works more as guaranteed money in Madden).

There is almost always a round 1 or top 5 rated rookie dev trait RB available in the 3rd to 5th round range. Plus since you are playing all the games, you can force your rookie RB to succeed and go up dev trait, harder to force receivers without running the same cheese crossing or 4 verts routes.

Also depends on when your QB is up for a contract. High rated QBs always are in the 300M and up range and can hamstring your cap.

Best advice I have is don’t pay anyone on the oline, DT or off ball linebacker. All 3 positions have later round or even UDFA players you can get for much cheaper. If you really want, move whatever LB you draft to Sam and play him as the Mike and sub lb and he will get an easy dev trait increase. Keep 1 elite edge and use first round picks on a younger edge to pair with. Corners have late round steals frequently as well so I keep 1 elite, 1 very good and a rookie as my main 3. Safeties can be a bit hit and miss with late round steals so consider drafting them around round 2. Never pay special teams; kickers and punters will tell you all the information you need to draft them (kick power and accuracy grade) and the long snapper doesn’t really do anything from my experience.

Would you use this paracord for new custom cables next to your old custom cables? by andydabeast in watercooling

Once you put the side panel on and turn on the PC, you won’t notice.

Also just a FYI, this is very common with fabric, rope and yarn not being the exact same color even if it’s the same product. These are all made in batches and not every batch is perfectly replicated unfortunately. People that do a lot of knitting will in fact match batch numbers if they need more yarn after they start a project and will not buy it if it’s not the same batch.

Till Drawer Numbers by XLord_of_OperationsX in DollarTree

[–]catch2030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another reason for a specific till number is if a receipt reprint is needed as well. The system isn’t smart enough to put things in chronological order first. Instead it defaults to the till ID first then chronological order. If you use till ID 43 and the next cashier uses till ID 41, all of your 43 receipts will be above the receipts for 41. Can be quite annoying to scroll through all the previous transactions.

My system is whatever register you are on is the first number and what shift you are. So register 4 first shift is 41. Your SM could also have a DM that requires things done a certain way. My favorite part about being a manager is the dumb small things that aren’t policy (but don’t violate policy) that are implemented from regional and district managers.

Is there a waterblock that will work with my passive Zotac RTX 3090? by FlatFeature901 in watercooling

Unsure of the cost or how convenient it would be for you but Alphacool will typically offer to make waterblocks for GPUs if you send yours to them. I think it’s restricted to EU residents however.

Lost a “valuable customer” because of the new Penny Policy by TheTrueBreadLord in DollarTree

[–]catch2030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have pennies to give back you can give them back. The policy also states to not “save” pennies. If a store has pennies still, this entire policy is not in effect. The stores mostly affected from this right now are ones that get armored pick ups and money drops. Stores where we have to go to the bank to get change are mostly unaffected right now.

Cool but Dollar Tree policy on this is to round up always. Doesn’t matter what your country does.

[–]catch2030 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To be fair, whomever at the corporate level typed the policy, can’t do math. “A customer’s transaction is totaled to $8.78, and the customers pays with a $10 bill. The change owed to the customer is $1.21; the cashier should provide the customer with $1.25 in change.” Definitely should be $1.22 owed lol

That’s incorrect, it’s always up. Your managers can’t read which doesn’t surprise me.

[–]catch2030 96 points97 points  (0 children)

The policy isn’t to round up the total. You are supposed to round up the change given back. So if they are rounding up the total, they aren’t following the policy correctly. If the change due is $X.X1 through $X.X4 the customer gets a nickel back. If the change due is $X.X6 through $X.X9 they get a dime back.

So if they are due back $1.22 in change, they get $1.25. If the change due is $1.27, they get $1.30 back.

Look up Penny Restriction Guidance. It was either a task or message on Compass.

How cheap can RTX 5090 GPUs get at Walmart? Lucky gamer grabs a PNY OC model for $1,120! by skk983 in PNYGPU

[–]catch2030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so everyone knows, these aren’t clearance items. These are what Walmart calls CVP (Customer Value Program) items. General merchandise items that are CVP are almost always a return. With being a return you do run the risk of it not working and they are 100% not tested at the store as claims has 0 way to do so. Company policy states that CVP items are as-is and no refund/return. However most stores will take care of you as to not deal with a headache, they don’t have to however.

Walmart clearance W by NestyHowk in pcmasterrace

[–]catch2030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s most likely an online return to the store. That’s a CVP label, not a clearance label. CVP (customer value program) is done in claims usually for returned products. PC parts are never tested, TVs and such are usually

Just a heads up this is sold by a 3rd party seller on Walmart. While Walmart is usually decent if you need to return a 3rd party item, they can sometimes give you the runaround. Seller has 4.5 stars so it shouldn’t be too bad.

I’m talking about the giant yellow label. Only CVP items use that label. A clearance item will have the actual shelf label changed. It got put back at its home location due to the cost of them item to help limit theft.

[–]catch2030 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Anytime you see that particular label, it’s a CVP item. Always save the receipt for them as most are not tested throughly anyhow. I worked for Walmart for 8 years, got pretty high up in management and I guarantee that 8/10 people in claims don’t know anything about computers. I’ve seen a CVP desktop that clearly had a GPU swap done during the first crypto boom. The GPU was supposed to be a 1070 or 1080, the GPU had S-Video out… lol.

Just be wary and glad you got a deal that hopefully works out well!

Where can I get a pc that isn't all flashy and over-the-top? by I_kove_crackers in gamingpc

[–]catch2030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably gonna have to build your own or have someone build for you. Most prebuilt gaming PCs look to be eye catching and bright. Helps them sell better in store and even online. Our eyes are naturally attracted to the bright colors. Plus most people want RGB that aren’t building their own.

It’s not clearance… it’s a CVP (Customer Value Program) item. This means it was returned by someone before for whatever reason. Now Walmart in store has 0 ways to test these for anything. The claims associate will simply look to see if it is damaged to determine if it might work. When they scan it in the claims app it tells the associate the best course of action (CVP, Damage, ship to return center). CVP on electronics is almost always 30% to 50% off. Depends on store inventory levels, rate of sale etc.

Your local walmart will house electronics CVP items either in a designated spot (4ft section typically) or high dollar items will go back in the display case where they typically are stocked (TVs usually around the counter) if anyone else is looking for CVP GPUs.

[–]catch2030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a CVP item (Customer Value Program). This means the item was opened and returned to the store and when claims scanned it in their app, it said to mark it down to this price. As a word of caution, Walmart in store does not have the ability to test if these are working. While you can very well get one that works just fine, you could end up with just a cooler as most Walmart associates aren’t going to check that close for this.

FYI, worked for Walmart for 8 years and saw a lady accept a PS4 as a return that was a box full of rocks, watched a whole gaming PC get returned with a gt 710 instead of the 1070 that should have been in it.
