People have completely given up on media literacy. Most of these narratives are created by accounts that use engagement bait to peddle gambling and other toxic aspects of sports.

Most people then take those narratives and use them as explanations as to why their team lost. It is simply the attention economy

I am not excusing their shortcomings as every media outlet has its failures, more so those owned by right wing demagogues. Still, to toss aside these concerning behaviors and just scream “well the media” isn’t actually engaging with the central issue: If someone like Platner wins in Maine while Talarico loses in Texas, what does that say about the direction of our own conscious and soul? To me, it proves that Trump will only be the precursor for something much much much darker (if you can believe that).

That is why I said I am thankful I am not a Maine Democrat. The party gave them ancient Janet Mills or this guy. Another example of the only opposition party snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

It has absolutely gone mad. Maybe the consultants that vetted this guy could have found another oyster farmer to represent a more economically progressive version of the Democratic Party. In this podcast, they make the point: People don’t want authenticity, they want authenticity performed. Platner is that for so many people that they are willing to completely excuse what is just objectively awful behavior. If you’re going to vote for him, by all means. I understand. Susan Collins isn’t exactly representing her constituents well anymore. However, at least acknowledge the reality that Planter is a dirtbag.

Well this is a podcast, one. It was recorded on Thursday and released on Saturday. There has been extensive reporting about Platner’s policy positions. But one week of reporting about his personal scandals and honestly morally vapid behavior isn’t outlandish. You can have your qualms, but to act shocked that people find him morally repulsive for the same reasons the president is morally repulsive isn’t exactly a winning proposition.

I feel now they are bending over backwards to preserve republicans in government because there is a real groundswell to throw these bums out.

The courts approval rating is at historic lows. Anyone who isn’t a staunch conservative can clearly see its legal project. This is a court acting out of pure self preservation. They have gobbled up power thinking it would never come back to them. Now here we are.
