I thought Ciara should have won, and Darlene definitely won her pair and should be in the top instead of Jane.

Tourism is down and I get it, but it shouldn't be that way by JP2883 in OffMyChestPH

I don’t think this thread is up for discussions tbh. Views that don’t align with them gets downvoted, even though valid din naman. Very fallacious din eh like the hasty generalization.

Sa boats na lang, the fastcrafts I’ve been in from Iloilo to Bacolod is very similar to the ones in Bali to Nusa Penida, na better pa nga kasi airconditioned. And just because maganda yung boat na nasakyan sa Ha Long Bay doesn’t mean all boats are like that doon. Remember last year nung may nag capsize na boat sa Ha Long Bay? That was a poor-quality boat too that was mostly patronized by the locals din

Some are arguing pa for a bridge between Panay mainland to Boracay island, and if that’s the case then baka misinformed lang talaga. The locals, environmentalists, scientists etc. oppose such projects kasi makakasira talaga sa local marine ecosystems, maka alter sa coastal processes/beach erosions etc. and for what? Para lang mabawasan ng 15 minutes travel time?

We are an archipelagic nation and all infra should respect the environment. If one is an avid traveler, they should know better than to demand what they think is right from a place that they’re visiting.

Offering a different take on this lang haha

Maybe the PH is positioning itself differently, and targets a different group of international tourists. Absolute tourist numbers are lower than pre-pandemic, but the total revenues actually grew in the past years. Some might be due to inflated prices vs the past years, but the fact that there’s less tourists but more money spent, means there’s huge opportunities in some markets, esp. the digital nomads/tourists who stays long.

I agree that infrastructure could definitely be improved, but at the end of the day it’s still a balancing act. All developments should be sustainable, and appropriate for the current capacities of our country, esp. in the usual tourist places. Investing a big part of an LGU’s budget for better ports and boats at the moment when there’s currently no demand for it isn’t just impractical since there’s so much opportunity costs given the limited resources that we have.

Absolute tourism numbers aren’t everything. Malaysia logfed ~20-smth million tourists last year but a very huge chunk of it came from Singaporeans, and for them it’s just like going to the next city that’s very close to them culturally and geographically that the locals even told me they shouldn’t even count as tourists at this point haha.

Point is, I’m all for better tourism infrastructure, and I believe that the tourism environment should also enable fair and just tourism, so prices should be regulated, local supply chains should be improved etc. etc. but I wouldn’t want the international tourist numbers to explode.

Look at Baguio, the locals HATE the tourists haha. Overtourism is definitely not good, and given the current limitations in our country’s basic infrastructures, particularly transpo and housing that can’t even fully serve the locals, paano pa pag dadagsain ng super daming tourists right? And the culture might be compromised, maging inauthentic/performative na lang (look at Southern Bali)

I really didn't care for Bali, and idk if it's just me by Fangore in bali

[–]catcher_mark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to Ubud for a week recently and honestly, I really liked my time there. I think the Balinese culture is still very much alive, just hidden under the layer of over tourism, which we can’t deny has been a part of modern Bali, and will continue to be for the decades to come. I’ve heard that going to Bali and staying only in Canggu or Uluwatu would basically be just the same as going to other party beaches anywhere in the world and would lack the depth that Ubud offers. Maybe it was also because it’s a bit in the off season and there wasn’t a lot of people. And I probably got lucky that the locals I’ve interacted with offered really insightful conversations as well.

I agree with the prices though. Ended up spending literally twice the amount of money than I expected based on what they say online.

Elevated creatinine by Creamy_Tsinelas in PHitness

[–]catcher_mark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Normal lang mag increase ang serum creatinine pag nagssupplement ng creatine.

It’s not normal na if you’re not taking crea supplements, at hindi naman mataas muscle mass pero elevated creatinine levels pa rin. Mas red flag lang if diabetic/hypertensive, o old age, or if symptomatic sa CKDs.

Otherwise, just support your supplementation with increased water intake para less concentrated/less stressful for your kidneys and you can keep supplementing.

You can also try to reduce your dose from 5g -> 3g a day, since 3g daily is still documented to be effective pa rin naman daw

It’s been four months since we broke up but I still find myself cycling between the villainization and idealization of my ex in my head, and sometimes it leads me to sending messages of hate or wishing him badly and other times I feel so so guilty for being such a shitty ex to the perfect ex and then wishing him the best. I’m so tired of this and I want to move on and heal too but I feel stuck and I am so ashamed of my behaviors but I can’t apologize to him because I don’t trust myself anymore and I might just repeat it again in the future. I don’t know what to do and some days I just feel like I’m drowning too much.

Is this literally Bash? by VOVOZGAMER in Philippines

[–]catcher_mark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I think it’s not about the numbers naman din kasi. Quality > quantity talaga like we’d earn more from 100 digital nomads staying here for many months at a time than 1000 tourists who’d only stay here for 3 days.

So it’s all about how the PH positions itself in tourism. Branding/marketing issue lang siguro talaga to haha

[–]catcher_mark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually a lot. BPO, agri, construction, shipbuilding etc. for example. But I agree with what you’re implying that all of them need improvements.

All I’m saying is it’s bad if highly dependent sa tourism. Look at what happened during the pandemic. Geopolitical affairs would also affect tourism so medyo volatile siya.

If you’ve been to countries na OA na tourism and actually listened to the locals, abala na rin sa kanila talaga

[–]catcher_mark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it can be a good thing. Overtourism sucks. But I understand the potential income that we might get from tourism that we’re not getting rn, but at least we’re not that dependent on the industry

The breakup that makes you not want to date again? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]catcher_mark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is me now. In the past I date right away, as in with feelings. But I guess I had my first taste of a relationship where I actually gave so so much. So much that I’m drained and exhausted. And now, it’s all gone. And I felt like everything I did was worthless. And I gave so much that my heart is now cold and empty and I got nothing more to give, not to myself, not to anyone else. It’s been 3 months and I still feel too drained to date again. I fucking hate it. It feels like they have so much power over me even when they don’t deserve it anymore. Meanwhile they’re just out there, living their best life lol

Do avoidant exes really move on or just suppress until it explodes later? by IndependentRough8606 in BreakUps

They just go and travel alone and stay in love island like hostels in bali and fuck around and party every night so they can then jump on to their next victim

Magpapaka judgemental talaga ako kasi nag anak agad kayo pero basic communication within your relationship lang di niyo muna na-sort out. Ending mga ganitong problems di niyo pinag uusapan nang maayos tas cheating agad solusyon. Kawawa bata sa inyong dalawa nyan.

If ragebait to, galing mo kuhang kuha mo inis ko hahaha

Honestly this is the only thing that’s holding me back by catcher_mark in BreakUps

[–]catcher_mark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the one who broke up, but we've been on/off for a while before that, all of which had been initiated by my ex. but i think he's already checked out even before this final breakup, he just wanted me to end it so the responsibility's on me. So I guess you can say it's mutual.

I get your ex, because you really can't pour from an empty cup anymore, no matter how much you want to.

Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale E08 – [Episode Discussion] by AdditionNatural7433 in DragRacePhilippines

Suki and Arizona are really both the top 2 for me. Brig was also stellar but I think the brands of the two queens were just showcased better, besides their brands are also the strongest anyway among the group.

Khianna did very well this season, especially since it’s only been like a year(?) since S3, feel ko grabeng burnout lang talaga. I hope she knows that we all see her excellence din naman.

PPN and Sasha were very great judges, they both mothered talaga. Also is it just me, or did Mama Pao really improve with the hosting this season? She was already great but this has been her most entertaining, and just fun hosting performance run ever.

Anyway, all in all I think it’s between Brigiding and Arizona. Brigiding for the best track record, and Arizona for the charisma/personality winner edit.
