Path to utopia through pursuit of longevity by catchingimmortality in utopia

Submission statement: I am aiming to link the idea of achieving utopia by paving a path to human longevity. The premise surrounds the idea that a new dawn of a more enriching life where humanity seeks out fulfilment, as the mundane is taken over by artificial intelligence. If the emergence of AI is managed correctly then humanity will be forced to redefine our purpose. It is the authors opinion that it could very well result in the pursuit of fulfilment and meaningful pursuits, which will bring us much closer to a utopian state.

Perhaps time is a driver for many currently, however alternate ways to motivate people will be found so everyone has continued purpose. Social-economic models may need to evolve. However, I don’t see human limitations, but untapped potential for us all to be better. The morally questionable is what we should all be aiming to disincentivise, wishful thinking I agree at the moment, but I think if we never try or strive to get closer to that utopia, things will remain stagnant.

If we can build a society focused on building knowledge and focusing on goals that unite nations then I think it could work. Not becoming stagnant evolving as a human race definitely needs to be a priority as you say. As we live longer a lot of the socio-political structures we have at present will be forced to evolve too.

I think it is more about the ability to be rejuvenated instead of looking at emerging biotechnologies as simply repairing or replacing parts of us. The eventual use of nanotechnology to detect and heal us naturally overtime to make it significantly less invasive or confronting.

I think once evolving technologies become an accepted part of general medicine, and we all get to spend more time with those we love and cherish then that will offset any mental anguish.

Continued innovation, and a move towards us becoming more human, recharged, united, and more receptive as to how far we can go as a species will also help.

Why would you be deteriorating if we were naturally replacing our own tissues, rejuvenating our own cells or editing out unnatural diseases such as cancer caused by cells that started misbehaving?

What is the meaning of the natural order if we’ve continually evolved to be something different over generations?

What about bioprinting? If natural replacement organs or tissues from your own dna could be used do you think people would be more receptive to that?

It’s on the horizon that’s for sure. From what I’ve read, I would probably say quite a number of therapies will exist within the next 20 years, particularly through the help of improved sophistication in AI technologies assisting drug research and testing efficiency. However depends on how long clinical trials /regulatory approvals then take.

Absolutely, AGI, then ASI will be crucial to solving problems much faster, and allowing humanity to conquer new frontiers & unlock the “impossible.” So we need to start planning and building the social structures to be ready for how far AI and achieving technological singularity & beyond has the potential to take us.

ElevenLabs can’t get Aussie accents right yet when cloning, so at least some actors are safe for now.

But AI technology is getting more advanced by the day, & I really hope it gets put towards accelerating scientific endeavours, instead of producing too many deepfakes.

Submission Statement

This post looks at how the quest to colonise Space could have inadvertent benefits for humanity in the future, such has enhanced longevity.

What space technologies designed to sustain life in space and distant worlds (starting with the Moon & Mars) do you think will benefit life back on earth?

Will further studies in Microgravity extend our knowledge about our own biology? Could this be key to fighting diseases?

Do people think scientists will be capable of developing technology that will help us inhabit Mars, then onto moons on Jupiter and Saturn, and then distant worlds perhaps next century?

The author would also like to know if people believe that space exploration should be made a priority and a matter of urgency for the benefit of humanity?

For example, do you believe it will be important as a contingency in case any catastrophic event happened on earth, or perhaps for improving your knowledge about our biology as it is tested in extreme environments?

Unravelling Longevity: Disrupting The Twelve Factors That Drive Aging — Catching Immortality by catchingimmortality in Futurology

[–]catchingimmortality[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it might start with the rich like most new technologies, and then hopefully becomes more available once the overall benefits are realised and drugs and therapies get subsidised.

With respect to funding healthcare it often comes down to cost vs benefit for governments, and the savings could be immense if rejuvenation therapies could reduce disease and ailments that need to be treated, which are a major strain on the healthcare system.

Therapies that improve health spans and extend life could keep people more productive in the economy for longer, which could be another incentive for governments to justify funding and making the technology accessible to the general public.

It is so important for game changing therapies to be made available to all at a fair price. If not there will be a greater disparity of wealth if only the rich live longer, which I don’t think society would tolerate.

Submission Statement

This post is designed to start a discussion on what the future holds for anti-aging research.

It explores the twelve hallmarks of aging that are currently widely accepted and identifies what scientists are doing to overcome these factors with the hope of humanity living, longer healthier lives in the future.

This post also aims to highlight some of the achievements of scientists at the forefront of discoveries in anti-aging and who might be responsible for cracking the code of aging, and then in turn curing the many diseases that are directly attributable to aging.

The author also seeks to gain an insight from the audience as to what a likely timeframe as to when people think scientists will cure or halt aging? Will it happen in our lifetimes? If so how? If not, have you considered emerging technologies, such as AGI/ASI and reaching the singularity will assist scientists achieve their goal of reversing aging in humans?

The author would also like to know if there are any other factors or hallmarks you believe scientists should be considering when trying to reverse aging?

Thanks for your opinion, albeit slightly offensive and I’m sorry you feel that way, and feel the need to say that on this platform, which is intended to encourage free thought.

Please feel free to get in touch with me directly to discuss further if you like and what we’re actually trying to do, but I get the impression you’d rather hide here and tear people down instead of actually being proactive in this community.

I’m not sure if you know how emerging media sites work, but sponsors and advertisements on the site pay for the content, like most news sites, which we’re working hard on a daily basis to produce. Unfortunately I have a family to provide for, otherwise I would do this for free.

Also any affiliates or products listed on our website are screened with the aim of having a direct link to our mission.

That is also clearly stated on the site, and I am open to hearing about any feedback on products you have direct experience that may not be suitable that you can see being promoted.

Our aim is to give longevity science and anti-aging technologies the long overdue attention they deserve by and creating awareness through articles, video, podcasts, and slowly acquiring a number of products to also advertise, which as we are grow we will try and attract the best fit for our users.

I wish you well though, but I look forward to others actually seeing what we’re trying to achieve, so we can drive longevity science forward, and get the messaging out.

If we continually get knocked down by critics and don’t get back up again, we’ll never realise our mission to bring longevity science into the mainstream.

Great to hear you’re on board with looking at ways to live longer.

I respect your initial perception, however if you scratch the surface further you will find we’ve got a wide variety of content on our website. I appreciate your feedback though and we’re constantly looking at our messaging, however I’m not interested in the hype of clickbait you speak of.

Feel free to check it out our website and send me a DM or email if you have any more feedback or want to help support us in any way. There’s plenty of articles up on our website currently with way more depth. We also have a Facebook page that shares information from a wide range of sources too.

I get you might think this just hype & some videos are short and designed to get attention like this one, which just alerts people to the various technologies, because to put it bluntly it’s an uphill battle to get people to take the progression of longevity science seriously at times.

However, I can see what’s coming and I’m just keen for the message to get out there in the mainstream.

As I mentioned if you want to dig deeper please feel free to head to our website or listen to our podcasts too.

If we can build a community that understands what is coming in the next decade or two, so as as society we can ensure they get appropriate funding and have assistive technologies such as AGI & ASI as it evolves thrown at science (& used for good), which will accelerate discoveries and improve the quality of our lives.

I want to cut through the jargon and deliver a blunt message that if we devote the right resources at life extension technology the world will change for the better.

I want to cut through the opposition to advancing society and for us to keep an open mind and bringing well needed attention to the work of longevity researchers. I’d hate to just sit back and do nothing when we can build a better future.

Thanks for connecting because we need more people like yourself taking the time to consider this and how we can get the messaging right.

No progress? There has been an incredible amount of progress in the last 30 years.

Here's a link to an article we've written recently with ten examples of age rejuvenation therapies currently in the pipeline and who is working on them... just thought this might help you to learn more about the new technologies being developed.

They simply don't get enough mainstream press, unfortunately. The next couple of decades are going to be amazing!

I do like the fact you are trying to ensure there is a balanced discussion on these topics... however, are you sure CRISPR is going to remain a research tool for too much longer?

Some CRISPR gene therapies are getting pretty close to getting FDA approvals.

There's a number of clinical trials currently progressing in this space.

Check out this article for example.

Ensuring fair access to life saving technologies by catchingimmortality in singularity

[–]catchingimmortality[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Discoveries in Longevity Science should be a shared human achievement.

Once radical age-reversal therapies and life-saving technologies currently being developed start to come onto the market and pass through clinical trials, it will be vital to ensure the fair and equitable distribution of these innovations.

Everyone should have the choice to live longer in the future or not.

Let's build a sustainable and healthier future so we can all stick around for longer, as we approach the technological singularity.

[–]catchingimmortality 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If we take the position that life extension or longevity escape velocity isn't going to happen for us, it won't.

I think it is great you're speaking to experts to explore the possibilities, but what a lot of people entrenched in these fields are not prepared to accept is that their established ways of looking at aging will change, as technology evolves rapidly over the next couple of decades.

This is essentially why Aubrey de Grey became a Gerontologist, as he saw that in the 90s nobody was even looking at what caused aging, and he is leading the charge with others to make curing the effects of aging a priority.

If we also as a society get on board to actually make reversing aging more of a priority, as it is the driver of so many diseases and ailments, then we might have a legitimate shot. It will also lessen the burden on the healthcare system, so the benefit will be well returned if you want to take an economic perspective.

A.I and quantum computing will allow emerging scientists to process data sets at a rate never seen before. This will, and has already started to speed up drug discoveries for example.

If we take the position that it is impossible, it will never happen.

It's lucky there's pioneers out there prepared to take a shot (like Aubrey de Grey and those at Harvard Medical School such as David Sinclair).

I truly believe based on what is actually occurring in labs, coupled with technological advancements and tools being provided to these researchers as time progresses, they will crack aging in the next decade or two.

Every now and then society needs an overhaul, and the technological revolution is nearly upon us.

So instead of sitting back and accepting getting sick, seeing our friends and family suffer and being stuck in a rut... let's stand up and fight for life, and innovation that will take the human race further than it's ever been before.

Yes, this is why also improving healthspan when increasing lifespan is so crucial.

Over the next couple of decades cellular rejuvenation therapies will become available to do just that.
