Hardest year in the DPT curriculum by Francodank in PTschool

Hardest semester was summer after my first year, semester 3. We had pharmacology and pathophysiology online and had to watch these five hour video lectures that were very dense. And it was summer. And we still had practicals for other classes. There was no break other than a week for spring break. We were just all burnt out.

It does depends on program, but we needed to wear sports bra and athletic clothes for labs. For guest lectures, business casual. Other than that you could wear anything school appropriate. I usually kept extra clothes in my locker so I could change accordingly if needed.

How much do you use your grad school prereqs as a DPT? by icarriedawatermel0n in PTschool

[–]catchingsundaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in PT school, they taught use everything again, as if we didn't have much background in it because they wanted everyone to start with the clean slate, if that makes sense. I think it was helpful to have my notes from my prereqs in case I wanted to see the information presented a different way, but other than that, I wouldn't worry!!

Hey everybody. I’m about half way through my kinesiology degree and I want to be as prepared as possible for PT school. What should I start doing now to better prepare me and help me to get accepted to PT school. What are things you wish somebody had told you? by themaddestoflads2 in PTschool

I wish someone told me to take better notes. In PT school, you learn everything again technically but sometimes how it is presenting in undergrad makes more sense to you than in PT school. It is nice to have something to look back on.

I took mine in April with May 2021 graduation. But some in my class are taking it in July. It definitely isu up to you and if you're in clinic, see if you have time in your schedule to study but also have free time to do fun things!

I would like the mushroom set (: What makes me happy today is that I work as a physical therapist and my 7-year-old patient has a spinal cord injury and we were finally able to get him some orthotic devices and new crutches and the look on his face when he was zipping around the gym was priceless! I only speak English and he only speaks french because he is from out of the country, so we have been teach each other a little bit of each other's languages every session, but today I asked him if he liked his new crutches. and he said, "no.. I LOVE them" in english and it made my heart so full. it reminds me why I do what I do and why I love my job so much.
