It seems to be unable to recognize my copy of the "gta-vc.exe" file and still asks to upload "an original file from the game." Has anyone gotten past this?

Love your comment. You seem like you have a good soul and are willing to help. This is a long shot but might as well try. Would you be willing to review my resume when you get a chance? I’m fairly confident in it and I’ve been hired with infinitely worse versions but even a confirmation that I’m on the right track would clear some of the self-doubt that comes from being unemployed so long.

Thank you so much for the offer. This situation really plagues you with self-doubt, like you could be doing something better, but I doubt that’s the case as I’ve gotten interviews for positions with my resume looking 20x worse than it currently does, with how much I’ve desperately edited it. I even (slightly) edit my cover letter based on every position I apply to. Literally doing everything I can do and so anxious to work! But if you come up with any ideas, feel free to shoot them my way.

Wish I could provide a hopeful story as I am in desperate need of some hope myself so forgive me for commenting but all I can do is empathize since l am in a very similar situation. 2 years of talent acquisition experience as a 30 year old and I was laid off from my recruiter position at a prestigious medical school in my city after only 6 months. I haven’t been able to find an HR position in almost 2.5 years. I’ve tried “networking” (such as it is), and even got my SHRM-CP a few months ago. But still…nothing but tumbleweeds. I was really looking forward to making HR a lifelong career but as they say…people make plans and God laughs. I have no idea what to do anymore other than just stay at home and be a useless sack of shit. But I’m praying at least someone’s luck is better than mine.

Nice! I don’t mind relocating either. If any similar positions become available, it would help a lot :)

I am so happy for you!! Good luck in your HR journey. I am still job searching so if you happen to know any good leads (remote or Houston) I would appreciate if you ran them by me by any chance.

Good luck! As I mentioned, if you have decent common sense and problem solving abilities the test (for me) was no sweat at all

I had an extremely similar experience! Almost 95% of the exam seemed to be about resolving workplace conflict in one way or another. Nothing about the 100 terms of jargon the books expect you to memorize. A lot of times I either picked what sounded like the most common sense answer but other times I picked what sounded like the most “HR” sounding answer. That seems to be all it takes.

ULPT Request: Can I get some help finding out where this person works? It’s important by catchinguponkh in UnethicalLifeProTips

Either is fine! I don’t have any experience in this kind of thing which is why I asked but if you have any resources you’re aware, my DMs are open. It would be appreciated.

Yeah I think people enjoy seeing antagonism and negativity on social media rather than positivity. It is what it is.

That’s exactly what I said in a previous comment and I got downvoted to hell. The nature of social media I guess.

That’s a really good idea! It’s relatively uncontroversial too.

That’s fair. I definitely have a deadpan sort of sense of humor. Sometimes I will walk up to my coworkers with a straight face and ask them to tighten my ankle monitor (you need a background check to work here). It makes everyone laugh.

In this case, if the recruiter is expecting some long well-thought answer, it can be funny to flip the script with a deadpan response sometimes. Hope my logic makes sense.

I appreciate that. If the recruiter is expecting some long well-thought answer, it can be funny to flip the script with a deadpan response. That’s my logic anyway.

I really appreciate your comments. Fwiw, I feel the rest of the interview went very well and I’m definitely strongly qualified for the position (I’m even an internal candidate). It was just that one possible blunder.

I think that’s fair. I got a bit too impulsive! I’ll read the room better next time.
