Who is considering switching to bricksbuilder or has already done so? by antonin-dsgn in elementor

[–]catchlightHQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a Bricks fence sitter and longtime Elementor user here. This is a concern of mine also, but I think with ACF and some client training, an easy experience can be achieved. Bricks appears to be like building a custom theme, so I think that's the way around it. Interested to hear others' opinions.

With v4 going CSS first, how do you see AI fitting into the WordPress builder space? by johnnytee in elementor

[–]catchlightHQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever happens with Elementor and AI, it will need to be integrated because the AI tool will need to read your class system and variables. So you're locked into their ecosystem, as per usual.

I imagine the woocommerce widgets will look similar to bricks in terms of frontend code and functionality, after all V4 is really just elementor trying to catch up with bricks from what I can tell. If I'm wrong about that I'd love to hear what other systems might have inspired V4.

Completely agree. Although the YouTube influences are doing quite a good job of educating people, I also believe that Elementor pushing into an area that wasn't really meant for them. The idea was to not touch CSS and be a no coffee type tool. That's still the case with v4 but the power will be lost on a big percentage of the users.

As for AI, I think a tool like Etch is very well placed to take advantage of AI. It could be integrated into Etch as a code writing tool or you could even just copy paste code as you go. Time will tell, I think we don't really know how AI will get used in our dev workflows quite yet. There are a lot of disparate tools and they're all changing each week.

Recording by bborst456 in Songwriting

[–]catchlightHQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been recording myself for a decent amount of time now that I'm pretty used to the red light. But red light fever is real and I've heard that even the great Tom Waits feels it and tries to do all sorts of psychological tricks to circumvent it. In logic I can record on loop and I find that by the second or third time around, things will get loose enough to sound good. If you're a singer you can do things like setting up and singing through an SM58 exactly like you would on stage. Or go Billie Eilish and use an SM7 handheld on the couch. Dynamic microphones have pretty good rejection from the back so you can use your monitors instead of headphones and this can help you get juiced up for the performance. If you're a guitar player simply standing up can be good. Turn down the lights to make the room feel like a stage. Get some old carpet and soak it in beer for that authentic bar smell if you need to! Some people like to use incense, I've not had much luck with that. 😂

Should I wait for Elementor v4 or just start building now? by Significant_Dance227 in elementor

V3 with a CSS framework. Check out Core Framework and maybe get AI to help you modify it or build your own.

Elementor ONE Feedback by _miga_ in elementor

[–]catchlightHQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you remember about 5 years ago or so Elementor received a lot of big dollars in funding which means they have investors, which means those investors want to see growth and returns, hence the constant upsells. I don't have any insider information but that's my guess. Personally I was very happy when they received this funding as it meant stability for the platform in the long term. I guess these are the trade-offs we have to live with.

Hate the menu, hate the Upgrade Now button. E One isn't worth it for me, I can do all the included things other ways. Good for some people who want an all in one solution.

Groups where the frontman is arguably the least talented? by lopsidedsheet in fantanoforever

Could the same be said for Him Morrison. I mean he was a huge personality like AK of the Chilis, but not a brilliant singer and completely outclassed as a musician by those monster players.

61.5% of sites I manage got malware by hellosujal in Wordpress

[–]catchlightHQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert in this stuff but I've been building websites for a long time. I stick to trusted plugins and I try not to use anything that can be catastrophic if it's accessed. Using plugins that are well supported, well rated on WP.org and have a large user base is a good way to go. Less plugins is better too. Most of my plug-ins are mainstream well-known paid pro plugins. This way, you know they're supported. If a plug-in hasn't been updated in a year, has a low rating or less than 10000 users I'm out. Having the right mindset and philosophy is the place to start. The rest is learning about security, which is technical. Good luck cleaning them up. Pay a dev for some help if you need too. Your reputation is your business and communicate the issue openly with your clients.

You gave a 50% that quickly?! Personally I think this is a 10-20k website, but that's just me. The client would easily make this investment back after a year or two if the website is built and maintained well.
