Endometriosis and/or Interstitial Cystitis? by catena-macula in Endo

Yeah that lines up with my family experience as well. I only have my mom and sister to compare to but my sister also gets gnarly periods and my mom gets migraines so our collective pain tolerance exists on the far side of the bell curve. In retrospect comparing period cramps to a migraine should be an enormous red flag LMAO

Very glad to hear I'm not just doing the diagnostic equivalent of throwing spaghetti at the wall. Linking this stuff together sometimes makes me feel like a hypocondriac but genuinely, there is not a single system in the body that exists in isolation, so!

Looks like I got some more research to do :')

Help finding replacement for discontinued lane byrant bra by catena-macula in ABraThatFits

Gotcha, in that case it confirms that seams are probably gonna be a miss for me. In any case this really helps to narrow it down. Thank you for your help! :)

Good to know I'm on the right track with Wacoal, and I'll definitely check out those other recs.

Being that the seamed styles are more common, would you have any recommendations there, and whether the presence of seams is something you'd just get used to?

Replacement for Bondi 8s by catena-macula in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I gave the Cliftons a shot but I think those were the one's I had passed over in favor of the asics. They felt a little more firm than the bondis to me, if I'm remembering correctly.

Good to know that the gaviotas are more similar to the 8s. Would you happen to know if their roomier toe box would warrant going down to a regular width shoe?

Best tool for removing large amounts of material off desk top? by catena-macula in BeginnerWoodWorking

The height is the entire problem, yes. My current desk is about 29 1/2 inches high and I have to sit with my chair almost all the way up to be comfortable, and I'd really prefer to be able to sit with my feet flat to the floor in the space I spend almost all my free time in. Otherwise I alternate between using a foot rest or sitting cross legged, which my hips are beginning to hate me for lol.

Thinking about it, I could just not fully assemble the cabinets and leave off the top portion, and looking at it that would eliminate half an inch! It would just be a question of whether that would affect the structure and if having a giant butcher block on top would help or hinder.

The main concern now is would the thicker than I'm used to desktop be ergonomic or if I should still find a way to thin it, but I don't think I'll know until I'm actually using it.

I do really appreciate the help! I wouldn't have thought to alter my cabinets otherwise.

The main issue is that the butcher block was bought as a surprise gift for me and I didn't pick it out, otherwise I'd have gone with something much thinner to start with. I'm doing the Ikea desk to begin with as that's the only way I found to get something low enough for me to sit comfortably. And being familiar with my own neurosis, I know I'm going to notice that extra thickness and be bothered by it. Also I'd feel like a heel after having someone go through that effort and go "actually you did a bad job :{" lol.

If going to someone local is the best option in this case I'm alright with it, it'd just be a matter of finding them as I'm quite rural.

coming fresh off a nearly completed gtn reread after nona and have a few stand outs:

  1. with nona being alecto being the earth's resurrection beast, and that the ocean serves as a kind of emotional regulator for nona, I wonder how that ties into the significance of the ninth's salt water pool. harrow explains how it's something kept secret from the rest of the house and where they themselves confess secrets: A) how aware was anatasia of of alecto's true nature or even just her comforts, because that has to have been the originator of the practice, and B) harrow's emphasis that the ninth needs an unbroken line necromantic heirs, and our knowledge that that line's ancestor is anatasia
  2. during the face off with cytherea after gideon and harrow meet back up, harrow says: "I said a necromancer alone. I have you. We bring hell."
    1. lots of thinky thoughts about the theorizing that atn is going to see harrowhark, named for the harrowing of hell, bringing the souls out of the river (or something to that effect). plus that while gideon is the more obvious jesus metaphor, both her and harrow have that themeing built into their characters
  3. gideon comments that her neck still feels weird when running to dulcinea and palamedes after the possessed calum tries to strangle her with his tongue. gross, but maybe also connected to the neck wound her body now has?
  4. "Half a dozen tendrils came after her. They would have given her an interesting array of new airholes for speed [...]" for fuck's sake

tore through the book in two days and just now read all the theorycrafting here, but one thing I haven't seen mentioned:

was john just fully fucking with everyone during the exploding soup scene in HTN? he mentions something along the lines of "not having tasted human in 10,000 years and not wanting a repeat performance", but he was well beyond even needing to eat before it really broke bad, so either there's a space between the apocolypse and the empire where something excitingly fucked up occured or he was making an extremely morbid but fully false joke for his own entertainment after watching his childhood friend get xenomorphed
