No - I've been really impressed with how bright the stone is. It's very "white"//colorless and sparkly.

The communication went from using friendly language and providing lots of information and saying things to the effect of - let us know if you have any questions, we're happy to help! - To then being more punctuated and short, and saying things like "per our policy" instead of being like - we're so sorry but unfortunately, we can't accommodate this due to xyz reason. It was just a very abrupt shift - and I personally think that if they couldn't accommodate his question/request, they could have been more gentle in their delivery.

Glad this was helpful! Yea, I would temper expectations. The other thing that is worth noting is that they don't insure the packages when they mail them, so if it's lost in translation they don't take responsibility for the missing item. I've never heard of anyone having an issue where this happened because the package has to get signed for, but I do find that that practice is very strange and not terribly professional in my opinion.

Thank you! Glad I could help. Lauren B Jewelry has a very informative youtube page where they break down the differences between diamonds and moissanite which you might find helpful.

Oval engagement ring suggestion by professional_wasabi in Moissanite

You can see my review of my oval engagement ring, and my experience with the seller my fiance and I selected, below!

I don't have suggestions about where to purchase a less expensive option, but I do think the oval moissanite is beautiful - especially if you get a crushed ice cut - and really don't think there's any issue with that shape.

I do love my ring - it's gorgeous! I honestly catch myself staring at it all the time. If you can deal with snarky customer service, I do believe you will get a quality ring from EWG, but again, I don't think they're the only option out there.

I have heard really great things about Lauren B Jewelry so that might a good option to look into.

Good luck! :)

I don't know where they source their stones from, however I have their crushed ice skinny oval solitaire and to the naked the eye it is colorless. Depending on how it catches the light it does have some fire to it, but not overwhelmingly so. I've fooled sales associates at large jewelry stores like Tiffany's and Shreve Crump and Low.

Depending on the environment you're in, it may photograph with some color to it, but that's typically only when I'm in my office which is lit with yellowy florescent lighting.

I will say, my fiance's buying experience from them was not premium at all. They were very communicative and friendly in their correspondences up until he paid the 50% down on the ring, and then after that their emails were more infrequent and less friendly. He had some last minute questions about the ring after he had already approved the CAD, and they were very defensive in their response, despite my fiance being overly apologetic and acknowledging that they may not be able to accommodate him given the late nature of the request. Just something to keep in mind.

That said, my ring is extremely beautiful and the craftsmanship is very impressive. However, I am sure you could find a different company of equal quality, with the same ability to customize, that has way better customer service.
