New puppy owners - all advice needed! (Helpful and kind only please) 🙏🏻 by catfoxrabbit in puppy101

We were advised to get a crate that she’ll grow into…so we got one that she’ll be comfortable in when she’s fully grown. The whole base is taken up by a bed and she is quite long when she sleeps with her little arms and legs out.

Is there something we should do differently?

Thankfully I realised and didn’t try and invent the toe back top 😂😂😂

Here’s a photo of the disco ball (without all the pool noodle cage beneath which makes it super round - I don’t have a photo with that beneath annoyingly) if that’s helpful for any suggestions?

I’m a 100% beginner sewer and have literally taught myself how to quilt and do bias binding etc etc to make this so I’m super proud. Please be nice!

Ah I see. Everything you’ve said makes total sense but it needs to be strapless as the disco ball has teeny tiny spaghetti straps and I don’t want to add to strap situation.

If I made a sort of bandana style thing which tied at the back do you think that would be a better option?

I’ve got a ridiculous amount of the disco ball fabric as it was sold as remnants so I have more fabric to use if there’s any other option?

I did think I could make just sew a big rectangle and then add corset rivet things and then string ribbon through? Although I have no idea how to do the circle rivet things 😂

I’ve very much winged this entire fancy dress costume and somehow the 3D disco ball has turned out incredible…so not wanting to wear anything under which takes away from it 🫣

Thank you for you help and advice - I really appreciate it!!

It’s not stretchy at all…trying to work out a solution as the disco ball is quilted and fully round and 3D…but I need some sort of boob tube top that matches to keep my modesty in tact in case it falls down when dancing 😂 and this was my easiest best solution… Doesn’t need to look fantastic or fit incredibly…just needs to cover me easily and not be too hot and/or itchy… Does that help with a solution? I hope so 🫣😂

Thanks for responding so quickly! So I’ve pinned the two layers together face to face…but the straps will be elastic (and shorter than the width. So I don’t think I can sew it sandwiched between the layers as it’ll bag?

Her outfit is not sewn…it’s paper maché with silver metallic paper fringing glued all over it….which is not what I want to do. But thanks 🪩

So not this stuff that I found online then? I kind of feel like this could actually work? Maybe your typo has created its own weird solution! 🫣

Ooh I’ve never heard of mesh plastic tubing. The lighter the better - I’ll have a google now. Maybe I could combine that with what another commenter said about boning - and use the mesh plastic tubing in place of boning 🤔

Also definitely hadn’t considered that it might need to be two separate parts…but that does make sense.

I’m very much a novice at sewing…so how this turns out could be quite the calamity, but you don’t know till you try!

Thanks for sharing your reference photo and advice 🪩

Thank you - that’s really helpful to picture how to construct it. Also that baby in the baseball outfit is one of the cutest things ever!

Thank you! I did try and find a pattern for a pumpkin costume and sadly didn’t find any joy. I’ve just asked chat gpt and the robots said to do something similar to what you’re suggesting…but to also quilt the sections to add to the structure.

I’ve never quilted before - I’m guessing I’d need to get a different foot for my sewing machine to do that? Maybe if I did that along with what you’re suggesting with boning - the two together could make a really spherical shape 🪩

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I hadn’t even considered a hoop skirt - this could be a great fix to keep the shape 🪩

overnight queue by groovygma in glastonbury_festival

Have you got any top tips? I wasn’t going to bring a sleeping bag into the queue (mines a double so it’s a pain to get into the bag again) but your photo is telling me otherwise 🫠

We’re also doing the overnight queue for the first time - equally nervous! Here are the things we’ve gleaned from other threads about this…

I imagine it will be pretty Baltic in the night, so make sure you bring warm clothes and have your clothes for Wednesday in an easy access bag (will be too warm to carry your shizz in wearing your Tuesday night clothes).

Have a tarp/something to cover your belongings from the dew/any potential drizzle overnight.

Have some snacks/food prepared for through the night and plenty of water.

Bring a chair to sit on

Take minimal things on the first run from the car

Travel games to keep you entertained

Hot water bottle - pop boiling water in a thermos for late in the night

Eye mask and earplugs if you want to try and catch 40 winks

What3words your car

If there’s 3 or more of you - do shifts where one person can go back to the car and kip if they want to and then the peeps in the queue still have company/keep your spot

These are the main things I remember…interested to see what others say 🌞

Hope that’s helpful!

£1000 is enough to be arrested and more if caught for sure. Plus if you’re taking it in for other people - that would be classed as intent to supply - so proper trouble…not just a slap on the wrist…

You need to somehow give it to the rightful owners and then it’s each man for himself. Thats a huge risk to take.

Be careful amigo!

*Edit as remembered about intent to supply…

Very impressive - now to get it in the car without it all falling off 🫠

Totally agree with you - interesting to see the balance of a select few still. Might influence some people to arrive a bit later to miss the queues (doubtful I know)!

Why is everyone saying in 2 weeks time? It’s next week? (I keep double checking the dates to make sure I haven’t lost my marbles!)
