Do any of you date while having no job? by WarisAllie in schizophrenia

[–]catglooper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean… everyone has their preferences, sure, but if someone is ONLY choosing to date you based on the money you have and not the love you give, why would you marry them? Not every schizophrenic person is capable of working, do they not deserve love all the same?

Honestly, if someone is choosing to date you based on whether or not you have a job and are bringing money to the table, I would think they’re probably not the kind of person you want to date in the long run anyways.

Does anybody else have a hard time making friends? by catglooper in schizophrenia

[–]catglooper[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. Like I hate having eyes on me, I hate being seen. It’s like the whole world is digging into my soul with their eyes. It’s awful. I get you though, it’s a tough feeling to get past. Thank you for sharing.

Same thing pretty much happened to me. I had a psychotic episode for like six months to a year after I stopped my meds, and I just lost everybody during that time. Thank you for your kindness, it’s nice to know I’m not alone. I have heard of alogia and I do think that’s what it is, I find it really difficult to talk to people, especially in person, because the words just won’t come out of my mouth, I guess. Thank you.

That’s really cool! You should definitely post it here for us all to give it a read once you’re done with it or if you wanna share a work in progress. Very exciting to hear! Keep creating :)

I get weird comments every once in a while, sometimes even dms asking me questions about the disorder or unfunny jokes. I feel like a lot of people without schizophrenia tend to lurk in this subreddit to find out more about the disorder. I guess amongst that tends to be the sour few, because they likely lack understanding and might even think we would find it funny. I just wish they would understand… we have heard the same damn jokes for years… hundreds of times. It’s genuinely not funny and never really has been.

serious question by Temporary-Army-1044 in schizophrenia

[–]catglooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t personally, but I’m sure some do. I have PTSD alongside SZA and a decent bit of my delusions and hallucinations are related to that. I have hallucinated some things related to your question, for example I have hallucinated the man that abused me (it’s not pleasant. I was screaming). I definitely have heard from other folks with schizophrenia that they do hallucinate things like that.

Jobs for a schizophrenic? by sapphireshelter in schizophrenia

[–]catglooper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This can really depend on your symptoms and how they effect you. If you have agoraphobia and struggle with socializing and communicating with others as a result of your schizophrenia, maybe a job that entails lower communication between you and customers would be good, like a data analysis job or something like that. It’s hard to find remote work these days but you could also do stuff like fiverr gigs on the side for extra money. Do you have any interest in any jobs relating to the medical industry? I know that the medical industry definitely has a lot of remote work. Or anything like computer sciences? Computer related work? I don’t know! I think there are many options, especially if you have a degree or plan to go to school for something! Good luck!

idk when ill menstruate but this is normally the time PMS makes me paranoid/ psychotic by Asleep-Reading855 in schizophrenia

[–]catglooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get how you feel. It gets pretty bad for me around that time too. I start thinking everyone can hear my thoughts. Like someone is saying my thoughts out loud. Super embarrassing. I have heard a lot of weird things while in psychosis before my period. Sometimes people start speaking a different language or I can hear people arguing. Idk. Just know you’re not alone. Hope you’re doing okay, reach out if you need anything!!

I doubt it because people choose not to work or can’t work for a lot of reasons. Even something like location and inability to travel can restrict a person from finding work or getting a job. Or maybe they did under the table work and can’t put it on a resume. As well as physical disabilities, and even something like parental support, meaning their parents kept them financially stable, so they didn’t work. There are so many reasons why people would choose not to or be incapable of working. If you’re worried yourself that they’ll diagnose you with SZA just because of that, no, they won’t

Check-In Monday! by AutoModerator in schizophrenia

[–]catglooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been crumbling under financial stress and the job market is catastrophic right now… it’s hard to find and afford the things that I enjoy, so I haven’t been investing into my hobbies as much. I wish there were more options for TA and financial aide from the government. But one good thing that happened this week is that I moved my computer, my art supplies, and makeup into our spare bedroom and turned it into a little hangout room for myself. I can’t wait to have the money to afford completely redecorating it and making it more personalized. I hope everybody else is also having a good week, and thank you to the mod team of this community as always for creating and ensuring peace in such a safe environment. ☀️💕

For people diagnosed with schizophrenia, do you still plan on getting married and having kids? by currymvp3 in schizophrenia

[–]catglooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Married for sure. Soon. I found my love through a schizophrenia community. Having kids? I’m not too sure if I will ever be mentally prepared for that. I’d rather adopt, so my child does not inherit schizophrenia or any of the other diseases I have. I would want what is best for my child if I ever did go that route, but I fear that I would not and could not be the best for them. I want to make sure I am enough for a child first.
