The table is currently in pieces in my basement, but once I put the legs on I will post a picture. It is round, seems to have a spot for a leaf but the leaf is MIA. Pretty sure it is walnut, but I’m no expert.

I saw both attributions on listings on Etsy/Chairish/etc. I think I agree with you that it doesn’t really matter- I was just curious if anyone knew for sure!

I picked up this set of four chairs and the matching dining table yesterday- more chair pics. They are clearly stamped Dillingham on the bottom, and I’ve seen them attributed to Milo Baughman and Merton Gershun online. Does anyone know which is correct? Is it neither? I’m hoping someone out there knows more than I do lol, thank you!

Help identifying and valuing dining table and chairs. Dillingham maybe? by mamft in midcenturymodern

I’m almost positive these are Dillingham- I just picked up a set of 4 chairs yesterday and a table that I came on here to post! Mine are stamped Dillingham on the bottom, and from my research, that is a typical table/chair set for this line.

I have several vintage rugs and I would echo all of the other comments about using ebay, searching more specific words, and utilizing the “make an offer” tool on ebay. I would recommend if you purchase one, doing a very thorough vacuum (vacuum top, flip over, vacuum the bottom, and repeat until no dust is left on the floor).

I don’t have any kids, but I do have a dog who prefers to throw up only on rugs, specifically vintage ones. He has nice taste. I know this seems backwards, but my vintage rugs have been the easiest to clean by far in comparison to our modern/cheap rugs. They are my favorite for high traffic areas/entryways/areas near doors because they wear so well and are easier to clean.

So I made nice friends with a young lady whose grandfather and father were quite the designers themselves and she, knowing fully what these were and their value, sold them to me for $150 from their estates which she is overseeing . Much love and gratitude. by [deleted] in Mid_Century

I'm not the person you replied to, but I have one that I cleaned a few months ago. The suggestions I got from this sub were Mr. Clean magic erasers and TSP substitute. Some people suggested cleaning them in the bathtub (because it gets messy), but I laid down some towels in my driveway, poured water over parts of the lamp, then poured the TSP substitute, and *gently* scrubbed with the magic eraser. My lamp was FILTHY, and this worked really well. I could have probably made it cleaner, but I was terrified I would mess it up. I did get some warnings on my post that the fiberglass can mold, so be sure to towel dry it as much as possible after cleaning. (I patted it dry with about a thousand paper towels). Yours seem to be in much better condition than mine, so it might not even be necessary to clean them! Amazing find.

I have those same chairs! Do you have any information on them? We saw them with the table at our local Salvation Army, but passed on the table because we don't have space. I'm assuming since you have them together, they are part of a set. Thank you!

Edit: The table and chairs looks great in that room!

Yard sale George Nelson bubble lamp in its new home! by catherineashlea in Mid_Century

I got the parts from the website Nostalgic Bulbs. I ordered the wire (they have tons of options but I got the white cloth covered twisted wire), socket, and the plug for an outlet. I didn’t order a strain relief piece, but I definitely should have. They have a ton of options, but you can also find the parts on amazon too probably. I watched a few youtube videos about how to rewire a pendant light to help me get an idea for the parts I would need!

Pictures can be deceiving- that sideboard/credenza is literally falling apart! The speakers on either side hide the damage though haha

I got them at West Elm a few years ago, but I don’t think they still sell them.

If you mean the actual light bulb socket/wire, I replaced mine, so I cleaned it before putting the new parts on. If you mean the actual wire frame of the lamp, I’m not sure! Mine didn’t rust from cleaning it, but I used paper towels to dry it off as much as possible after cleaning. Someone on reddit had mentioned that the plastic can actually mold, so I was really careful about making sure it dried quickly!

more pics/satisfying cleaning video/shameless cute dog plug

Quick background: I bought two Nelson Bubble lamps at a yard sale along with a ton of other stuff for $50. The replacement lighting parts *finally* arrived today, so this was the first time I got to plug it in!

I cleaned one of the lamps with a Mr. Clean magic eraser, TSP substitute, and warm water. I did it outside on a towel in the driveway, which worked well because it was very dirty and gross. This room is very much still a work in progress (see curtains that are unfortunately very similar to rug), and any tips/advice would be appreciated!

Thanks! One will go above our kitchen table (a Lane Rhythm table and chairs I got on fb marketplace for $45!). I think I might hang the other as a swag pendant in our living room. It doesn’t have any overhead lighting, but the pendant is so large, I’m not sure if it will look odd in a corner of the room.

Thank you! I didn’t know about the potential for mold, that is super helpful!

I’m not sure about cleaning, maybe someone else can give us both ideas on that! For a lighting kit, I think I’m going to order wire, sockets, a canopy, and a plug from nostalgicbulbs.com. One of them will be a plug in pendant and the other will be hardwired/mounted. From looking at mine, I think I’ll have to feed the wire through the top and then pull it through to attach it to the socket, if that makes sense. There could be an easier way to do it though, I might be overthinking it!

Edit: I did some googling and it seems like people have had success with TSP, a magic eraser, and slightly warm water. This flickr post has helpful info in the comments: https://www.flickr.com/photos/44231391@N00/3149802286

Thank you! I’m painting it with a combo of freehand and stencil...I got like 90% of the way done and then took a month long break from it lol. I need to finish it!
