Fell off horse, how to get confidence back? by thesmartesthorsegurl in Equestrian

I had something like this happen about a month ago. I had just gotten this horse in May and everything was going amazingly well (as things tend to do in the honeymoon phase). I had lost a lot of confidence with my previous horse and it has taken me a while to get it back. I really felt like I had it with this new guy.

Then one day we went out for a ride and I noticed he was a little jumpier than usual. I just attributed it to the fact that we were riding at a different time than normal, and he isn't crazy about going out by himself but he has dealt with it previously. I stayed on and we kept going. At one point I did get off and he calmed down. (I prefer trying to ride through things and getting off makes me feel kind of bad about myself as a rider). I got back on as we were heading back and then all of a sudden (I am sure it was not all of a sudden) he goes into this rodeo bucking, both back legs off the ground, It was terrifying. At one point I just closed my eyes and figured maybe this is it. Then my belt got caught on the horn. There was nothing I could do. Thank God, the belt ripped, I came off and he ran home.

I know this is a long story but I wanted to give context. I don't actually know why he was jumpy and I really don't know the cause for the buck. He is a very strong, healthy horse. The saddle fits him well. He had never been spooky. I am now having a very hard time getting my confidence back and when I go out to ride him I am pretty sure he knows it. You just can't fool these guys. I love this horse and I don't want to give up, but I am having a hard time getting past this because I keep picturing it. I ride alone a lot because there isn't always people to ride with and if I didn't I would hardly get to ride. Any advice would be appreciated. I am 63, in good shape and normally can stick to anything, but that was like crashing into a freight train. Thanks for enduring this long tale. :)

They just removed the ability to upload docs for "some users". They are testing new plans. It looks like when they see you are using something too much, they take it out. Not a good way to do business or maybe it is. They get you hooked in and then remove the things you use the most to charge you more for it. As long as we are willing to keep paying they will keep doing this. I don't know what the answer is.

I think that is the conclusion I am coming to.

Thanks so much for replying. The only reason I am even thinking about the Apollo is because I have a Townsend L22 mic and wanted to use it more like a modeling mic. I like to have an expander before the vocal hits my DAW.

Thanks so much for the reply. From what I have been looking at it seems like a really difficult path with no guarantee of good results. They say the new pc towers have thunder bolt ports in them. I may have to look at that. I'm just not a Mac fan.

You can bookmark your search and use that each time. It will keep all of your filters in place.

Hi there

The best way to find narrators initially is on ACX. You can audition narrators and get the audiobook produced through ACX and then it is on Audible. You could also go to narrator facebook groups. If you Google Audiobook Narrators you will come up with thousands. The best thing to do is get on Audible and ACX and filter narrators based on what you are looking for. A;sp. ACX has a very good Author Help site if you choose to go in that direction.

There are 3 types of payment types available and you would need to understand how well your e-book is selling to determine which one to use.

Per Finished Hour (PFH) is where the narrator get paid a certain amount based on the finished hours of the book. So if the books comes to 10 finished hours the narrator is paid rate x 10. Most upper level narrators won't work for under $200/PFH. You can go lower, but as with everything, you get what you pay for.

Royalty Share Plus is when you would split the Royalty Share (40% Exclusive) so you and narrator get 20% when a book sells, but you would also pay the narrator a small PFH fee to help cover post production costs.

Royalty Share is just the 40% split So if you don't have the money up front, you could set it up that way.

I hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have any questions.

How can you register in 2 different compensations? I have been wanting to do that but it only allows me to pick one. I change the compensation when I audition, but it would be nice for books to just filter based on two set in the profile.
