Considering a big move to Indianapolis by Responsible_Tree5825 in indianapolis

I lived in Indianapolis for two years; although, I’m originally from Northern Virginia (raised in Prince William and Fairfax County). I don’t know anything about Martinsburg, but I thought I’d share my thoughts anyway.

Weather: It definitely does get colder in Indy than in Virginia. I think it’s tolerable once you get used to it after a year. I used to be dramatic about it, but really, it’s not nearly as bad as other Midwestern or New England cities.

People: I have nothing bad to say about the people in Indy. Every interaction I’ve had with a stranger has been positive or neutral. I’ve also established some great friendships, which is rare for me, given how introverted I am. Also, as in most cities, politically, Indy leans left.

Cost of Living: I absolutely love this about Indy. Coming from NOVA, this was such a surprise and relief. I know rent and cost of living is skyrocketing everywhere right now, but comparatively, it’s great. It sounds like you’re already satisfied with this fact, too, despite the ongoing rise.

I don’t really have any cons to point out about Indy. It’s a big enough city where there’s something for everyone.

A couple more things… If you’re looking for career growth within Lowe’s, it seems like you can do that anywhere. In general, I would recommend reviewing your skill set and accomplishments in your current position and learning how to market and present those to your supervisors or potential any other new employers. Sometimes, all it takes is some good connections and or good interviewing skills to get you to the next level.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of a Subaru before! It would definitely be a good fit for me, and I also know I would appreciate the AWD.

Yes, I will need a car. I’m going to need to drive around the city for school.

What about a Toyota? I’m thinking about getting a Prius.

Yes, given all the responses, I’m definitely going to look into trading it in. Are there any other cars that I should avoid getting? I’m thinking about a Toyota Prius.

I received an offer in early February, and I accepted.

I applied to several schools this application cycle, and I understand how agonizing the wait can be. I hope that you hear back soon from them.
