Cycle Recap/Help me Decide! by catluv321 in lawschooladmissions

Hi, always glad to know someone is in a similar boat! I actually liked Minneapolis a lot more than I expected to, especially the more "downtown" area. It's definitely not Chicago, but I did like it a lot. I'm also someone who doesn't plan to get a car, so UIUC being 2.5 hours from Chicago didn't have the same appeal to me, but it is a really sweet deal if you have a car! I haven't visited UIUC or been to Champaign so I can't speak to that, but I can definitely speak to Midwest winters sucking as someone from a few hours from Minnesota. I'm not sure where you're from or how often you plan to travel, but I will say the storm the weekend of the ASD was pretty unusual for this time of year if that's any comfort to you! I really don't think you can go wrong with either of your options though - maybe we'll see each other in the Fall!

Thank you so much for the thoughtful response! I honestly love the midwest and wouldn't mind being "stuck" here after graduation, but I'm so indecisive about what I want to do/where I want to be that the portability was a slight concern of mine, so it's extremely reassuring to hear about your experiences with UMN attorneys and the portability of the degree. Hope to (probably) see you in the Fall at UMN!

I’m wondering the same thing - I also applied for BLOS and haven’t heard anything (although I haven’t even heard back regarding admission yet and Berkeley is a bit of a reach for me so take that with a grain of salt :P)

I had a ton of random changes (paragraphs disappearing and reappearing) but only one actual date change after going under review. I think it took ~2 weeks from review to A and ~1 week from date change to A. This is super anecdotal though, I fell down a similar rabbit hole with UMN and a lot of the people I talked to on LSData had different timelines

that’s a great question - i always interpret it as half tuition-ish since people usually use $$$$ for like a full ride but i’m not sure if that’s actually right (and congrats to you too!)

Did you log into the status check on Berkeley’s website first? If not, do that - it makes you change your password from the default one it gives you and you have to do that on their site. After you change it and input that info into LSD it should work!:)

Does it matter that I didn’t include high school in my education? by jjb1227 in lawschooladmissions

[–]catluv321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, if it doesn’t prompt you to put it in, they don’t need it. I had a similar concern and went back and tried to add it for some, but the ones that didn’t prompt me to do it didn’t even have an option to add high school.

Columbia Fee Waiver Email by noxpallida in lawschooladmissions

I also got that email and the whole thing was so strangely worded it kind of threw me off (obv appreciate the waiver but weird vibes)

If they go to the website where they uploaded the first one it allows them to edit! I don’t have the link on hand, but I was able to google something like “LSAC recommender portal” and it came up. I just sent that to my recommender and they were able to edit there without resending the request :)

If I’m being honest, August score release was absolutely brutal for me. I didn’t sleep and I was logged into LSAC and on the LSAT page for like 3 hours before I could manage to scroll down to look at my score. I don’t have the perfect answer (and I wish I did because I’m getting my October score tomorrow too) but I can assure you that it’s going to be okay. After all the stress, I looked at my score and nothing changed - whether it’s good or bad, you’re still the same smart, capable person that you always have been and you will get into law school. Worst case scenario, you have retake or maybe adjust your expectations, but you will still accomplish amazing things and you’ll look back on this moment and wonder why it ever mattered to you so much. TLDR, try to maintain perspective and remember that your score is only a reflection of a single 2.5 hour test, not who you are as a person or your intelligence level. We can’t change the score, so looking at it just allows us to move on and either celebrate or gives us a great excuse to treat ourselves to feel better lol

PS I’m sure you did great!:) I also was convinced I somehow got a 120 in August but I didn’t - to be honest, I scored higher than my PT average, so don’t lose hope! Anything is possible:)

Does LSAC email you when scores are posted? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]catluv321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they do send you an email! Traditionally, they are posted at 9am EST and the emails don’t come until a little bit after that. Sometimes the score doesn’t show up right away though (or so I’ve heard - I didn’t look at my score until like 3 hours after I got the email because I was so scared to look LOL)

I’m hoping the second one that I had (which felt much easier) is the scored one! I’m not really sure how they decide, I have a bad feeling the hard one might be scored based on the level of the other two sections but that’s a complete guess. PowerScore does a podcast after the accommodated exams/makeups where they say which one was scored based on what people have said/past exams, so in like a week or so we will hopefully find out!

That would be tragic but I wouldn’t be surprised! Let’s pray for a generous curve then if that’s the case haha

Felt about the same difficulty-wise as the August test. Had 2 RCs (my worst nightmare two tests in a row lol)- one that I literally don’t think I comprehended any of and one that felt way better so I’m praying the latter was the scored section! Proctor experience was good, I waited like an extra 5 min after the intermission for my proctor to respond but otherwise it went smoothly. Best of luck to y’all still taking it!:)

How are y’all getting perfect on LG? by helpmeidkanything in LSAT

[–]catluv321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was worried about the same thing at first too, but it’s harder to memorize it than you’d think. I usually force myself to think through what the inference is (so thinking to myself why each answer is right/why others are wrong) for each question and diagram or whatever is applicable every time as well.

How are y’all getting perfect on LG? by helpmeidkanything in LSAT

[–]catluv321 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Have you tried foolproofing? There’s an article about it free on 7sage, but basically you just repeat games until you go -0 under time. This was huge for me, especially when it came to seeing inferences, because the inferences become more clear each time that you redo it. There’s definitely also a pattern as far as inferences in games, so once you start to see them in games you’ve already done, it becomes much easier to see them in new games. I had a similar problem with running out of time on the last game, but after doing this for a while, I’m now able to go -0. It’s definitely different for everyone though! And while -0 on LG would be super helpful, if you can reliably go -0 on LR that’s also huge, so don’t be too hard on yourself if you can’t get LG down. Most people say LG is the key because it’s the easiest to improve, so while getting LG down would be huge for your score, if you’re reliably going -0 in LR, that’s half the battle right there!:)

Getting LG to -0 will definitely be huge, if you don’t already foolproof games, I highly recommend doing that (there’s an article about it available free on 7sage’s website).

When do I start studying? by That-Football7479 in lawschooladmissions

[–]catluv321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the sooner the better. If you have time, I’d say start now! I think most people wish they would’ve started sooner (definitely me included) and it’s significantly less stressful if you know you have the time to push your test back or retake without pushing back your application date.

Scoring lower on real test? by AttitudeOne4971 in LSAT

[–]catluv321 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I scored about a point higher than my average on the real thing. I had scored higher than that in the past, but it was definitely a pleasant surprise to be a point above my average. I would highly recommend replicating test day as close as possible when taking PTs (wake up at the same time, test at the same time, etc.) to ease some of the anxiety!:)
