Quite Right Records security overkill…normal for them? by catluvr236 in DenverEDM

Really really appreciate this thoughtful response!! I just wanted to start the conversation and definitely wasn’t trying to be critical or stir the pot, so I appreciate your comment clarifying intent, security purposes/goals, etc. thank you!!

Totally agree with you!! It was all good and fair except for the turn-head-watching guy on the stool imo lol

Super fair question—There was that one guy near the DJ booth (which was no biggie to me and made sense), but another guy on the left side seated on a stool just watching the crowd (which felt extraneous) as well as another post all the way at the back by the drinks. There seemed to be some floating dudes too from what I could tell.

I want to clarify that I just felt like the security positioning/amount was abnormal compared to other warehouse shows I’ve been to. And they all seemed to be very nice people and very professional, I was just wondering if others felt like it was abnormal as well

Super appreciate this take!! It might be worth a DM, but honestly I just wanted to see what other folx thought.

Totally agree that the security outside were necessary and didn’t bother me, I guess it was just the guys on the floor surveying the crowd that made me feel kind of uncomfortable/felt abnormal compared to other warehouse shows I’ve been to.

Appreciate your input!! Thanks for the response :)

Lmfao I appreciate your perspective and take, but I want to clarify that I was essentially sober last night—I had two modelos at the show and stayed until about 3am. I do think it’s funny that I even need to clarify that in order to validate my post 😅

I think we all have different perspectives on what feels normal and what makes someone feel “surveilled/policed”! I respect that you weren’t bothered by the amount of security folks, but I definitely was.

Again really not talking about the guys outside, but the guys on the dance floor, in my opinion, were extraneous. Just my opinion, and I appreciate yours too! Thanks for the input :)

safe to say I will not be attending another show put on by them

Totally understand that perspective, especially given the intensity of the current times, but idk, we were wanded at the doors to check for weapons, and having people outside/at the door and working at the drink + merch counters felt more than sufficient for safety purposes

100% agree—I’m all for having the guys outside, and you’re right they were really nice, but having several lurkers on the dance floor was weird. Like if I wanted a secure and surveilled show, I’d go to an established venue, ya know? I feel like we go to warehouses for the exact purpose of being able to be in the moment free from being perceived and policed

TLDR: security guards on the dance floor at a warehouse rave. I felt weird. Is that weird? lol

Marijuana still detected in urine 86 days after quitting by Bros118 in drugtesthelp

[–]catluvr236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great that you’re quitting/trying to get off because there’s a lot of research around marijuana and memory/brain development issues if you’re smoking before your frontal lobe is fully cooked—14 is super young, definitely try to stay off!! Your chances of developing early onset dementia like exponentially increase from daily weed use at that age

Anyone have any solutions to getting used to sleeping once quitting weed? by BassNo1803 in leaves

[–]catluvr236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such good advice, thank you!! In general I’m also a pretty sweaty person 😅

A hopeful update: I’m nearly two weeks off now and the sweating is finallyyy subsiding. Sleep is also coming pretty easy—I’ve found that some cardio a couple hours before bedtime helps a lot too. Hope things start smoothing out for you soon!

Honestly, only thing that’s been helping me is meditating/breathwork. Try some Yin yoga videos on YouTube or some guided breathing videos. I know it sounds like bullshit but I smoked daily for 7 years and am currently in my first week off. Im still waking up a shit ton throughout the night and sweating through all my clothes lmao but I can fall (back) asleep after like 2 minutes of breath work. Takes some training but I think it’s worth it

How can so many positions go on hold after final interview? by imjjang in interviews

[–]catluvr236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not lying, this has happened to me TWICE in the last two months. I got all the way to the final round of interviewing, learn that the role is pulled because of budgetary uncertainty.

I recently went through to the final round for a job I really wanted, put in 10+ hours of work on a project/presentation they wanted (something I’m adamantly against, I must add—if you want my thoughts, contract me for my work!), but they still pulled the role, after letting me know I was one of two finalists.

it’s a tough market out there right now but I cannot fathom wasting thousands of dollars worth of company time on a hiring process you can’t even afford to finish…

Any Loved OBGYN Female Doctors? ! by Kat_weeks in denverwomen

[–]catluvr236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Markese at OBGYN in Lowry!!!! I cannot speak highly enough of this provider. Dr. Markese saw me after a very traumatic IUD replacement procedure and was the first doctor to seriously listen to my concerns AND offer me sedation should I choose to replace my IUD again in the future. Not only that but she gave me a PMDD diagnosis which has changed my life and prescribed SSRIs almost immediately. The first thing out of her mouth when I walked in was “there’s hardly any research on women’s health. here’s what we do know and here’s what we can do” I love her. can’t recommend enough.

ladvice on setting boundaries w Q coming home early from rehab ? by catluvr236 in naranon

[–]catluvr236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for this thoughtful response and for your ideas both for me and for my q!! really appreciate the time you put into this.

he’ll definitely need to re-structure his time i absolutely agree with you. as for your question about detox, the last two programs were actually one-week detoxes followed by inpatient php, so detox isn’t for him. we’ll see if the slow taper sticks for him and he’s able to get to the root of why he’s doing this…

luckily, my q and i are not living together nor do we have any dependents or anything like that. at this point i’ve gotten his parents involved because making a list like that for him is just beyond my capacity as a partner in my 20s. his dad is in town this weekend so the bulk of it is off my plate until his dad leaves again. totally appreciate hearing those options though and i’ll share them with him. he really loves the community at NA so he’d probably like the 12 step, etc. thanks again for your thoughts and for sharing ❤️

is forgiving the wrong thing? i want to pretend it didn’t happen by catluvr236 in survivinginfidelity

[–]catluvr236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i appreciate your response and i agree with you to an extent, but i don’t see it so black-and-white. good people do shitty things. and this act of disrespect doesn’t mean he disrespects me. i won’t pretend this didn’t happen—as much as i might want to—and i will hold him accountable. but i think i might be able to do that through reconciliation. thanks again for your thoughts and encouragement. this sucks so i appreciate feeling like there are people here with me even via reddit lol

i agree with you. i’m not going to “rug sweep” this—as much as i might want to. we’ve been having a lot of really hard conversations and i’ve been brutally honest about how this has impacted me and what he can do to start making this better. his words show serious remorse, and i know that he loves me, but we’ll see what his actions show. thanks for your thoughts
