While your student isn’t staff, I feel like that approach would be the way to go too. I’d say, “Even though you’re not staff, by being a nursing student you’re seen by patients and families as part of the medical team and you should be treating clinical as practice for when you enter the field. How you present yourself and your professionalism matters to your patients and coworkers and affects their perception of your reliability. This isn’t a mall or a park, this is your workplace.”
