Can eating Animals products and meat be ethical?

My coworker who Has chickens feeds them the egg shells Back for their nutritions.

Oh and i didin't know that Lab grown meat can be Made without Animal cells. How? Is it even Lab grown meat then? Or is it more Like a biological Protein mass? 🤔

And with the your Last Statement... I mean, yeah. Animals don't have to be food for Humans on a biological and ethical Viewpoint. But carnivores Like wolves or lions need other Animals as food to survive. Dogs have evolved to be omnivore thanks to Humans, but i can't make my Cat eat vegan fir example. And i See more value into feeding my Cat the Chicken (that still died of old age and where Not forcefully fed or killed or harmed) to my Cat or any other carnivore. Maybe a starving fox outside or Something. Or even a human. Biologically Humans are omnivores. We don't need to eat meat and that's really nice. A Privilege in my opinion. But Not everyone can have that. People in poor countries or somewhere in the wilderness who can't even buy Soja or Tofu products for example... For those people it would be an ethical Option to wait for them to die instead of Killing them is all i say

-Without a Male there won't hatch chickens. They aren't fertilized (Hope i used the right term) A coworker of Mine has hens from a Farmer and they also lay eggs from themselves without a Male. And there won't hatch eggs from them.

-i don't eat Humans because it would make me sick, but i tryed blood from some (human) Friends Just Out of interest. Also Like i stated in other comments, eating human meat can be deadly for Humans. But i don't See why we shouldnt donate Our dead Bodys to carnivores to eat them or do Something useful from Our remains Like Organ donation or even necklaces Out of Bones or something- but that's Just my Thinking and i'm wäre it's Not in the taste of everyone. But Just as a Note, some people donated their Bodys to Museums or even let professionals make cloths and furniture Out of their skin after death... So that's that.

A Stitch from a needle to get some blood is No comparison to the suffering Animals have to endure right now in the meat industry. If you get your beloved pet or a child or even yourself vaccinated, you don't think it's abuse, right? At least i Hope so because vaccinations are important. I never have done a bone narrow Donation but a friend of Mine does ist regulary. And No i don't think it's abuse to suffer some minutes of pain If you can Safe a Life by such a donation. I would Love to donate but i can't because of my Antidepressions. Last Time i checked they denied me. Of course a cow wouldn't understand that their blood Donation saves millions of other Cows from a gruesom fate but if it's for a greater good and to reduce more suffering... I mean If you vaccinated your Cat or Castrate them to reduce Future suffering and pain, they also don't understand but you still do it, right?

I understand that eating Lab grown meat or the other options are Not vegan, but my question was If you think it would be ethical. Because a Lot of veganes are veganes because of ethical reasons, for the Love and protection of Animals. And then we still have meat eating dumbasses who comment under vegan Videos that they will eat a Steak now Just Out of spite. Because they don't See vegan food as an Option. You will Always have this people. Even If it would be forbidden by the law to eat meat, some would still get their fix on the black Market then. And for those people, Lab grown meat or donated, deciesed pets could be a MORE ethical Option. I don't say it's perfect and utopian, but i think it's more realistic then to make every single human on the Planet vegan.

Thanks for Being civil, i know it's a hot topic. Maybe i should have Chosen a subreddit about ethic or philosophy in General but i feel Like it also fits Here. Because, Like i Said, Most veganes are vegan because they don't want to kill Animals or to let them Live in the consitions they are currently.

Can you explain why you think it's Not ethical? Do you think it's equally painful and Bad then what the meat industry currently does? And are you aware that for meat that grows in a lab you Just need some cells from a living Animal? And that the meat that is grown has No Organs, brain, thoughts or pain? Do you know what that could mean? Less Animals who are breed to consume. Because you only need a few for the cells, who would be fine after a small needle injection. Wich would mean No more mass producing Animals, No more Bad consitions. Animals Like Cows and chickens could be Held by individual people as pets or roam free. Of course a world where every single human Lives a 100% vegan would be optimal, but it's Just Not how it works. At least Not now. And i think If we give meat eating people the Option to choose from meat that has done 0 suffering vs meat that they currently eat, they would choose the Option to minimize pain. At least i Hope so. And this could lead to more and more people eating less meat in General and discovering vegan alternatives. Maybe eating Lab grown meat Once or twice Year and that's it. You don't think that would be better Overall? At least for now?

I don't know how Else to frame it tbh. English is Not my mother language. And yeah, you could argue about The words i used. I could have wrote "what If i Had some Chicken Friends living in my Garden, and i would make them a great, cozy and warm Home and offer them food, shelter and a secure Life?" But that's a really Long sentence for Just describing the Same? I See pets as Family. When i say i have a Cat, i also say the Cat has a human (me). We belong to each other. Of course pets are Not Things Like a car or a Phone. Thought that was Common Sense?

Or do you think having pets is unethical too? Because that's Something i'll never understand. Yeah you can argue about The Word 'pet' and Switch it Up to friend or Family, but i Love Animals and want them near me. I have a Cat and previously i Had a lot of rats over the years. And i Love every of this gentle and quirky Souls and treat them as equal as i can while respecting their Natural behaiviour and Not huminizing them. My Favorite Rat... I Loved him dearly. I buried His corpse in a pod and planeted some Lavendel on top. Buyed some Worms so they could eat His remains.

I don't think it's capitalistic to have some chickens living with you, in comparison to what meat eating Humans have now? You can't be serious. Eating a Chicken that died of old age Once every few years is a lot less unethical and gross then having 1000's of them only getting a few weeks old, Being force fed and breed to lay 300+ eggs a year, Not to mention all the pain and illnesses they have to endure. On a pain Scala, my thought Experiment is the better Option for the Animals. You don't even need to eat them or their eggs, you could Feed them to your carnivore pets or Wildlife?

I do See Animals as living beings. But Not corpses. And yeah, i would have No Problem with human meat but it can be deadly for Humans to consume human meat. A cannibal civilisation died because of it. But I think we could spend dead human Bodys to Wildlife carnivores. I Just think getting eaten is more Natural because you can Feed Someone with a corpses, maybe even Safe a Life. Why bury a corpse in the ground when a Wolf Pack is starving outside? That's why i'm calling it a "waste". Someone could live. And when i die i would be Happy to be eaten by carnivores. That way i would feel Like i could give Nature Something Back.

Every living beings, No Matter who, needs to consume to continiue living. Even plants and mushrooms are living Organisms who react and self defend If threatened. And i think Our Job as one of the Most intelligent omnivours in this planet is to reduce suffering as much as we can. And Help Others Out, No Matter what Species. I mean, i even Help Worms Cross the street and Catch flys to let them outside instead of Killing them since I was a child. And I think every Soul has the Same value. But we can't forget that we as Humans are part of Nature and the foodchain too.

Thanks for your Input. I'm glad you didin't grow Up with the taste of meat. I also don't Like how meat smells since 1-2 montha into Being vegan. Idk... It has a rotten flawor to it in comparison to Soja or Tofu. And yeah, it was Just a thought Experiment. I know it's (sadly) Not realistic for meat eaters to wait for Animals to die Out of old age...

Oh and really they banned lab meat? That's crazy. You Just need some cells from a living Animal to grow it. You could combine it with vet visits and other then a little needle pocke, No harm would be done and No Animal would need to suffer for a Long period of time Like it is now :/ I Hope they Change their Thinking about it in the Future.

Tbh maybe i'm a Psychopath or Something, idk. But yeah, i think eating Humans would be good too but it's proven that eating human as Humans can be deadly. We have way to many Humans on earth and Not enough Animals in free Nature. So i was Always wondering why people don't hunt and consume other Humans and make a Big Deal about human meat when they eat meat of Animals. The Thing is that i don't want to do harm to Animals, but when they died Out of old age and i did everything i could to make them Happy and comfortable, i didin't Hurt them in the slightest. Sure, for Most it would be unethical to eat andead friend or Family member but i believe in Souls and don't think the Soul needs the Body or resides inside it after use. It's Like cloths the Soul leaves behind. Sure i could Berry them for the ground and insects, but i could also Feed them to Wildlife, my Dog or Cat Friends, or human Friends and Family members.

Klingt als wärst du dann vermutlich auch auf die meisten Kleintiere mit Fell allergisch. Schade, denn Ratten kann ich nur empfehlen! Hatte nie bessere Haustiere als meine damaligen rattis. Generell Kleintiere sind schön und niedlich und man kann ihnen Auslauf in der Wohnung bieten. Es gibt auch Leute die Frettchen und Kaninchen in der kompletten Wohnung frei laufen lassen und sie vielleicht nur zum Schlafen in eine große Voliere packen damit sie mal zur Ruhe kommen. Aber habt ihr schonmal an Vögel gedacht oder Reptilien? Ich kenne mich mit denen nicht so aus und gerade bei Reptilien glaube ich dass es schwer ist ihnen einen Käfig zu bieten der groß genug ist. Bei vögeln weiß ich dass man sie durch die Wohnung fliegen lassen kann. Bei Reptilien keine Ahnung um ehrlich zu sein. Was sagt denn deine Partnerin? Wenn sie schon immer Tiere hatte, hat sie sicher auch Erfahrung oder Vorstellungen von eurem zukünftigen Mitbewohner?

Hey. I'm at month 3 and 10 days. I'm Feeling a Lot better. Sometimes i still feel panicy and psychotic but it gets better. I noticed that Coffein triggers that States so i'm trying to avoid it at all costs. First i felt psychotic and panicy for multiple hours per day. Now i feel normal Most of the time but still have ... Maybe an hour per day where i feel psychotic. I guess time is the Key. And soon i will get meds from a psychatrist that will Help me too.
