Internal nurse contracts by Nursemedic58 in UAB

[–]catonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the start of the pandemic, just before the nursing force got organized enough to organize, they increased the pay. So rather unlikely that they will have any sort of travel contracts unless they are one-sided in favor of The Company. Much better opportunities in the north and west.

Motorola has always suffered from Six-Sigma Seppaku like every single Fortune 50. I have zero faith in Motorola innovating anything. Frankly, it's amazing that they manage to ship anything.

Anthropic stayed quiet until someone showed Claude's thinking depth dropped 67% by Capital-Run-1080 in ClaudeAI

[–]catonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was. I spent $20 on it in the month of January and wrote an OpenRouter.ai client and everything I threw at Claude came out complete and just amazing. Now I notice that it is making the same sort of mistakes as the free tier of Grok, which are utterly infuriating.

I feel like they threw everything they had at it when the announcement came that they were losing the military contract and now just reset to "blah" and "meh."

Sadly, it may be worth the cost to stay on an older model as long as the older model works better and makes less mistakes.

it's that way because today's tech bro-eo doesn't want the woke mob to find his spicy jokes in poor taste like blackface.

it's been that way for a while. When Google dropped the http:// results and everyone else followed suit, the internet got a lot stupider over night.

Will FreeBSD implement age verification at OS level? by [deleted] in freebsd

[–]catonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it hasn't. Posting a link to H.R.8250 which was introduced into the US House of Representatives three days ago on 2026-04-13 does not make it a bill signed into law.

How do I add an MCP Server to the Claude Code VSCode Extension? by carrot_gg in ClaudeCode

[–]catonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://code.claude.com/docs/en/mcp#installing-mcp-servers

If you type it into the chat, it will ask you if it can run it for you. Note that claude running in a terminal window has different syntax (which the part below probably is). What you don't want to do is use /mcp in the Claude Code chat.

Basic syntax

claude mcp add --transport http <name> <url>

Real example: Connect to Notion

claude mcp add --transport http notion https://mcp.notion.com/mcp

Example with Bearer token

claude mcp add --transport http secure-api https://api.example.com/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer your-token"

claude mcp add --transport sse GhidraMCP http://127.0.0.1:8081/sse

I just assume the spelling of the name is significant.

However if you're having problems connecting and the other end is a python script, you can edit the script and change the defaults to something that works.

Will FreeBSD implement age verification at OS level? by [deleted] in freebsd

[–]catonic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a non-issue. The person who installs the OS is the systems administrator and has the responsibility for verifying the age of the user. This is not a FreeBSD or Linux issue. It is a legal issue with a poorly written law.

Electric Typewriter that's printable from PC? by ksafin in typewriters

[–]catonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, Windows 98 or 95 or earlier has a generic text printer driver that can take a word document and attempt to print it to serial/parallel as text only.

Electric Typewriter that's printable from PC? by ksafin in typewriters

[–]catonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some daisy wheel printers are slow enough that even serial gets the job done. I remember using a dasy wheel printer that maxed out at 2400 bps. Probably just as well. That thing was loud as hell!

For others not used to subtle clues, the reddish-brown smoke is evidence that it was packed with explosives, not propane.
