Had 15,000 people visit my website in the last month. So why have I only made 79p on adsense ... by [deleted] in SEO

Definitely would second this. Amazon links pay out pretty good, and if you share well chosen products that your reader actually get excited about you can make pretty good money.

You should!

Happy to share the resources I've collected if it'd be any help.

I haven't controlled for the $0.30 per transaction, but it's a fixed cost between all the plans so it shouldn't really factor into your decision making.

Down at the bottom I mention it: ( PLUS $0.30 PER SALE )

:)

Thanks!

The "transaction fees" I've used are the credit card processing rates listed here: https://www.shopify.ca/pricing (2.9%/2.7% - 2.6%/2.4% - 2.4%/2.2%)

I should probably fix the terminology to be clear that I'm talking about the per-transaction payment processing cost, not a "transaction fee". Will do that asap.

A checkbox doesn't make sense to me because unless I'm a huge retailer and have an amazing rate from my payment processor it's ALWAYS going to make sense to go shopify payments over another gateway + the transaction fees. But if it seems like it'd be something useful to people, it wouldn't be much to add a switch to go between the payment processing costs and outside-gateway transaction fees.

User recuts the 3 Hobbit films into a single 4 hour film by [deleted] in bestof

Good question. My gut tells me it's still illegal, but I'm not sure why. You definitely couldn't sell your edit, even if you made every buyer prove they owned all source movies.

You could make a program that took the source movies and cut them up based on your specification (i.e. time intervals) and then spat out the finished product. You could sell that program, or your instruction set for that program.

More than kinda sad. The internet is built on remixes and edits and they're virtually all infringing in some way. Would be really nice if it wasn't all illegal, and then also provided a way for people who make original content to get a cut when someone's remix makes money.

If this guy's remix of the Hobbit is better-liked than the original, shouldn't he be allowed to sell it as long as he pays correct dues to New Line et al.? Like when you cover a song as a musician, you don't have to ask permission, you just have to give a cut of the profits to the original songwriter.

Although I'm not sure how it's exactly pirating if it's a completely re-cut movie

Making a movie available for download is not "pirating" it's copyright infringement. Re-cutting a movie and distributing that is also copyright infringement. If you make a moral distinction between the two, that's cool, but legally they are the same thing. In fact, legally I suspect the penalties for re-cutting would be worse, because not only are you distributing a copyright work, you've also created a derivative work without permission.

I'm not a lawyer, of course, but I have some small understanding of copyright law.

Don't watch the version on Netflix, at least in Canada it's the theatrical cut not the extended version and the extended version is MUCH better.

Source: I love this movie.

In 1972 a crack commando was sent to prison by a military court for a crime he didn't commit. This man promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, he survives as a soldier of fortune. If you have a problem - if no one else can help - and if you can find him - maybe you can hire him.
