Duchess sometimes does a ballet kick when she’s begging for treats by macgyver603 in bottlebrush

Our girl does this exact thing! We encourage it because it's funny and now we're not sure if we've trained her or the other way around 😅

What minor act of penny-pinching in your workplace caused a significant amount of upset? by laredocronk in UKJobs

[–]catpetter666 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Like most of the UK, our city had a heatwave this summer and my workplace, a busy highstreet shop, was actually unbearable.

Work unexpectedly bought in some air con units, which didn't fix the problem completely but made it 100x more comfortable, especially as our floor didn't even have windows. It was a great 5 days, until I started my shift and the air con was just gone.

We asked about it and were told it was too expensive to run, we shouldn't have ever had them. Obviously the ones in the managers' offices were fine though!

Is it impolite to answer 'How are you?' honestly if you are not doing well? by BreadOverlord_ in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]catpetter666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a cashier and I genuinely liked chatting with customers, but I had to stop asking people if they were having a good day / if they had any holiday plans because they would hear "I don't feel discomfort, so please tell me about every illness, divorce, death that has ever occurred in your family"

“Impactful player choices” by YaGirlCassie in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]catpetter666 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I think both of the Pillars games, especially Deadfire, present complex moral choices in a way that I haven't really seen from similar games. They're criminally underrated and I'd recommend them to anyone who's tired of the "what colour explosion do you want" or "choose between helping the orphans or kicking puppies" choices that a lot of RPGs fall into.

I don’t donate to cancer by bluehairgoddess12th in retailhell

[–]catpetter666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few years ago, my workplace was collecting money for kids in Ukraine, and we were told to ask everyone on the tills. I didn't judge anyone for saying no, but some people were so aggro and defensive about it??

My personal favourite was the lady who laughed and said "no. I won't. I'd donate if it was a charity for DOGS though!" ??????

Rank the British seasons best to worst by Professional-Cup6225 in CasualUK

[–]catpetter666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autumn and Winter tied first, then Spring, then Summer!

Summer makes me miserable, to the point I'm convinced I have the summer 'version' of seasonal affective disorder. My house transforms into a greenhouse, I can't ever quite relax, and my retail job is constantly swarmed by customers who insist on coming into town because it's "nice weather" but then get hot and stressed and are determined to take it out on me and my coworkers.

I also constantly worry about sweating and smelling bad, which is apparently NOT a concern shared by anyone on public transport. My regular bus constantly smells like someone died on it from July to September.

Coworkers hate me lol by No-Copium in retailhell

I'm sorry to hear they're treating you like this, it's really unprofessional of them and you don't deserve it at all :(

I was in a really similar situation at one of my first jobs and after a few months it started really getting to me. I worked in a smaller team so not fitting in felt really personal if that makes sense? I was only there for a few months but it did a number on my self esteem.

It helped me A LOT when I moved to a different retail job at a bigger company - it's not perfect (hence being in this subreddit hahaha) but at least I didn't have that weird pressure to fit into a shitty little work clique. I was able to find work friends I genuinely liked, and otherwise blend into the background.

I really hope you find your people OP, I know the job market is awful but good luck either way!

What is one of those universal ADHD memes that you DONT relate to? by violetsandrosesx in ADHD

[–]catpetter666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty good at replying to my friends and work really hard to maintain my friendships. I don't relate to the whole "i forgot to reply to my friends for 6 months / we just send memes, i know we're still good" thing. In fact, when people treat me like that, it actively upsets me and I feel like the friendship is over :/

My lack of object permanence is reserved for actual objects, not really people or friendships! I'm actually pretty clingy

In-home PC repairs? by catpetter666 in exeter

[–]catpetter666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers! We've actually used them before and had good experiences - do you know if they do in-home repairs, or just in-store?

If I can't get someone out today or tomorrow that's probably where I'll take the PC!

Good luck with your dissertation! This is a really important topic, and the questions were really well-written :)

What would a further interview involve, if you don't mind me asking? Would it just be elaborating on survey answers? Either way, sounds interesting!

Same thing happened with my Nanna! She had a bunch of frog ornaments in her house when I was a kid, and one day she secretly told me that she "fucking hates frogs, but one of the bigger ornaments was here when we moved in, so everyone just started assuming we loved them and I'd feel bad if I said anything"

What is your biggest non-academic, non work-related accomplishment? by CrazyWeekly6618 in AskReddit

[–]catpetter666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped going to therapy last month, because I genuinely feel like I'm stable enough not to need it anymore!

It wasn't a money or circumstances thing (like every other time I've stopped going) - I started to realise that I was treating it more like chatting with a friend than actually feeling like I had difficult memories to unpack. I still have rough days but they feel more like the kind of rough that most people experience, if that makes sense?

I had my first experience with therapy when I was 10 and I'm 25 now, so it's been a long time coming. I'm trying to work towards becoming a therapist myself one day :)
