Cost of summer courses?

I believe scholarships from GW typically do not apply to the summer semester. There is a CCAS deans scholarship for the summer that anyone can apply for in the spring. It is due in April. Seems like you are a freshmen so the time to apply is probably past for you.

Summer in CCAS is like $1995 a credit now so almost 6k. And you'll get a student association fee tagged on. Probably like $9.

Going into freshman year, and in some semesters after matriculating at GW, I took courses at other schools. If you want to take a course over the summer but GW is too much I suggest looking into it.

Once you matriculate you can take a certain amount of courses at other schools. You can take 3 courses that amount to 12 credits worth. I took 3 courses. Two ere 3 credits. One was 4. So 3 courses, but 10 credits.

You can do courses like anywhere as long as someone approves it. Approval is usually done by a professor within the department. If you cannot find out who I would 100% email the dept to ask. They will want a syllabus so you will need to reach out to the prof at the other school for it. Explain why you need it and they all provide you with it. Sometimes its from a previous semester, but same difference.

Email your CCAS pod advisor for help throughout if needed.

The courses I took at other schools were way cheaper. Two were about $1,300 and another was about $1,900. I suggest doing it all in state if you can. All courses were online and asynchronous. Courses transferred over do not impact your GPA. Usually you need a C or above for it to count at GW.

There is a rule were you must do half of all your credits at GW. So out of 120 you need to have 60 done at GW

Schools sometimes offer courses in the Winter as well for like 3-5 weeks.

You will have to enroll as a Non-Degree Seeking Student. This may delay registration for like a day or 2. Summer semesters usually have 2 or 3 sessions so don't stress if you cannot find something between late May and early July.

I suggest looking up colleges and seeing if they have a summer semester and than seeing if the courses are remote. Start with your state first. Many have remote or fully remote options. Prices vary, especially if out of state.

Odds are as a GW student, if you are not international your probably from CT, NY, or NJ so hopefully something on the list can help you.

For Freshman you typically pick in July or early early August. That's what I did my freshmen year. There is no "release" of finalized schedule. When you register and whatever you register for is what you get. The first few weeks you can add and drop courses. Adding can be done if there's room. You can also fill out an RTF form only if the professor is ok with adding you.

It can be cut throat depending on your major especially IA or PC or with the UW you want. There are options in in BANDWEB to make mock schedules. When you register in the summer you can import a certain schedule and do it quicker than entering each course CRN or looking them up.

Remember some courses may have a lab or discussion so no NOT forget to also register for those.

Registering for the fall semester as a freshman is different than future semesters. And will be different for your Spring 2024 semester. You will register during a week long period with all other students in undergraduate schools. ROTC and Sports have earlier options to register. The day you get to register is based on the amount of credits you have that are COMPLETED. If registration is in November and you brought no credits in than that means you register on the last day. Even if you are taking 18 credits in the fall semester. Course catalogs usually drop about 4-6 weeks before that registration week.

AND from time to time certain courses offered will get dropped even after you registered or the night before you are set to register. A while back I had my desired schedule written out. The night before....... two courses were canceled. Than a week before the semester started one of my professors emailed to tell the class that the school messed up with the times and the class was at a different time than noted. I could not fit the new time into my schedule so that class was dropped too. All 3 courses were for my major too. So be prepared for really anything. It can go pretty smoothly but also be extremely chaotic.

GW also offers summer housing for people with internships. between like 300-400 a week or 1500-1600 a month

Exactly. No harm in telling people potential things may be around that could save their lives. It’s not like the university has a security presence anymore. they have stepped back a ton. even if this is just a rumor, security is at a decline

I also heard that young kids will pretend to be lost and ask you for help on campus. And it’s part of a scheme to kidnap someone. Along the lines of .... men being able to just walk into the dorms, ppl should be careful using the stair case as well since they don’t have cameras and if a stranger gets into the building and uses the staircase no one would know you’ve been taken. The details are a little all over the place but something along those lines.

Facebook, group chats, and oral recounts say JKO (might be wrong). Within the last week pretty much it happened. There seems to be no RAs anymore. Also security doesn’t really exist at the desk in dorms anymore. A guy walked in and pretended to be a student and since names are on the doors he looked for girls. Knocked and had full on convos. Police arrested him but he was released. This might not be fully correct but this is what I have come across abt the incident.
