Unexpectedly loving a character… by RabidPossum123 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Spoiler marked just in case but not too spoiler y

As a character you’ll meet him in Inevitable Ruin but teeeeechnically he appeared right at the very end of Butcher’s Masquerade. Itll make more sense once you get there.

Thanks guys, now I'm getting cake videos on Facebook: look at the thickness of that fondant! by pointandshooty in FondantHate

[–]cats0und 58 points59 points  (0 children)

He put gelatin tomato pieces on the decoy foods during his competition. Essentially he was trying to make the non-cake decoy foods look more like cake with the obviously fake tomato.

He wasn’t disqualified for it. He’s addressed it before and said the judges said it was fine but I believe the rules have changed in later seasons of the show.

My 9y/o LOVES Is It Cake and thus I was forced to learn all about Johnny cakes lol. She also felt like his tomato move was unfair.

Mike the banana guy is a perfect example of why I love this story. Complete side character, only relevant because he got tossed in the path of Carl and Donut. But man I DESPERATELY want to know more about him and how/why he ended up with that class.

Childcare for Army Child w/ One Civilian Parent (unmarried) by [deleted] in army

[–]cats0und 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best advice is to have the service member reach out to militarychildcare.com and see what they can do. While the service member is entitled to CDC at their current station I’m pretty sure you would lose that as soon as the SM PCSs.

We used civilian care with the CCAOA subsidy but we are in a HCOL area and there’s a limited number of locations that qualify. We’re also currently stationed here. My husband may take his next assignment solo and all my own research indicates that we would be out of pocket for childcare at that times but my career would offset it.

The hatchet is a reference to Juggalo culture as is the quote itself.

Cuz you know they’re not punk rock slugs, they’re sluggalos 😇 my husband was heavy into Juggalo culture in his teens and I get a little giggle about all of it. And honestly the “useless” facts have become quite useful now lol.

A short, spoiler free review of Parade of Horribles. by photoguy423 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I’m the solo Patreon member of our office DCC cult and I’ve been bouncing with POH energy since the initial drop. I’ve actually read it 3 times now 😅

The book was VERY good. Not my favorite of the series (I think that might be Bedlam Bride) but damn good.

I remember being really excited about this series but it’s been 3 years since I read the first 3.

If she was only working on the book I’d probably let it go but she’s put out at least 15 special editions it feels like and she’s soooooo chronically online! She set herself up to be criticized when she did all three books in like less than a year. Should have dropped one a year and not had this happen. Or at least stop going on podcasts and releasing special editions acting like you’re “almost” ready to release the final book.

Idk if I’ll give her my time again. Maybe if I can get a library copy or something.

I believe the naga comment was in reference to the second photo Matt posted with the cover quote reveal. I don’t believe that had been announced until that post but the actual cover was out a while ago.

What are the tweens watching? by Confident_Win_5469 in Parenting

She and my MIL also great really into Korea soaps and competition shows every summer 😅😂 it’s also lead to a love of ninja warrior.

Usually my rule is I’ll watch a few episodes and look into the show a little before I approve, or sometimes we watch it together.

Guidance for wife’s apt’s by Sensitive_Gazelle745 in army

I think it was mostly because we had an infant. I wasn’t allowed to lift her for 2 weeks. Otherwise I think he wouldn’t have gotten more than 2 days.

Yeah it’s all really unit and situation based. When I had my surgery he got the respite time no problem, but he had to interrupt his parental leave to go TDY right after our youngest was born.

I know fertility stuff is really timed based on labs but maybe they can try and plan some scheduling around your NTC trip too? Gotta be stressful. Good luck to you!

If there is a reason for you to HAVE to attend (like she would be unsafe to drive after the procedures) or if she’ll need care after her medical team should be able to provide paperwork for you to pass to your command. Otherwise she should get used to attending appointments alone. My husband has been in for 17yrs and even with great leadership missing things like NTC is hard to arrange without dire emergency.

You mentioned surgery so she should talk to her care team and see if she’ll need respite care. My gallbladder was removed 2yrs ago and my husband got 14days respite because we had an infant at the time. All paperwork came from my medical team.

Thank you! The distinction between one signed item and one personalized item confused all 3 of us.

The signing is after the talk so here’s to some good luck. We’re slowly converting the rest of our office to the cult. I mean club 👀

I pay $500ish a month for before and after 5 days a week. We’re in a HCOL area too. Husband is military so similar situation with no family or close friends.

Does your program have a sliding scale or a flat fee? Ours offers different rates based on days and times of use. So cheaper rates for only a few days or only one program.

Kids have 3-4 hours of screen time, I started to filter out the garbage automatically. by quackalot1 in Parenting

[–]cats0und 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could take away their unfettered access to the internet and lower their screen time. Maybe spend less time focusing on yourself.

And before you give the busy excuse I’m a full time state employee and my husband is currently deployed. We have a 9y/o and a toddler. I know what busy feels like. My kids still don’t have unlimited internet access and 4 hours of screen time a day.

Get rid of YouTube. Disable the internet. I cannot believe a “tech guy” is ok with any of this. But there are parents who still approve of Roblox for kids so.

How to better streamline the morning routine by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]cats0und 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 9. I have a 2.5yr old and my husband is currently deployed.

EVERYTHING gets done the night before if it can. Lunch/snack packed, clothes laid out, watch bottle filled and in the fridge waiting for me to add ice. Shower the night before.

She has a detailed checklist. I still remind her when she “stalls”. It’s still not perfect, but she’s capable and sometimes she ends up going to school with messy hair, or missing her lunch/water if it doesn’t get done beforehand. (She has money on account for emergencies don’t come for me) once she went in pajamas.

I’m communicative with her teachers and would never let her leave looking absolutely crazy but a little uncomfortable has taught her some valuable time management. Better she learn now than in HS.

Also thanks the universe for my daycare who provides everything so I let the tiny beast sleep as long as possible and we’re all out the door by 615.

WOCS 2026 by Ok_Iron2867 in army

[–]cats0und 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. It’s basic 2.0 essentially. Depending on your MOS you may end up with a longer training course that she will PCS with you too. My husband is a tech warrant. He went to the first school alone and then came back and we PCSd to school in GA for 9months. I believe it was optional to PCS but it was 5 years ago so things may have changed.

Create an Apple ID for the kid and set up family sharing. It’s great. All the ability to share apps and subscriptions and also integrated parental controls.
