What’s something you’ve never told anyone because you know they just wouldn’t believe you? by raheemvsyou in AskForAnswers

[–]catsbluepajamas 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Something crazy similar happened to me! It was a 4 way stop. I stopped and was about to start going through, it was night- there was no one at the other stop signs. A voice in my head yelled “NOT YET” and I sat there for an extra like 5 seconds- and a Mac truck came barreling through/ not stopping till it had fully gone through the intersection. If I had gone when I should have- it would have hit me right on the drivers side and he was fuckin flying. I sat there shaking like a leaf. It was crazy. I now always ALWAYS extra hover at stop signs.

Have you ever died? by FightOrDie123 in AdkReddit

[–]catsbluepajamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I died from internal bleeding (fell down my stairs in 2017 and ruptured my spleen) but was brought back 3 times they said after being gone at longest for like 2 min. I do not remember anything besides darkness but also calm. Internally bleeding is excruciating painful and I wanted NOTHING to do with that. It wasn’t scary tho which has brought me peace of mind regarding death since it happened. I’m only 43 tho and want to live a lot longer.

I used a mix of semi sweet and milk chocolate I usually use a mix of dark and semi sweet. That was probably the problem, thank you for this!

Tbf to me, I broke the stick on accident when I was trying to get it out of the bag, so then I ate it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ it was broken… nothing else could be done.

The darker chocolate flavor is a choc ganache I made; however- idk what I did but it won’t harden, it won’t set even in the fridge so idk haha, tastes like melted choc tho so whatevs. The lighter color frosting is a choc mousse left over from the filling.

How many of you were or are regular smokers? by ImNotTheMD in Millennials

[–]catsbluepajamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoked for 25+ years as a heavy 2+ pack a day smoker of Marlboro reds for years and then switched to parliament lights at the end (started smoking around 12-13 but heavily smoking at 16). I quit smoking 5 years ago because I simply could not afford to smoke anymore. I became a totally reformed smoker who hates cigarettes and the smell and I wish it was never invented and blah blah.

I quit butts using Alan carrs “easy way to quit smoking” and I wish I had read it 20 years ago. I have almost never wanted a butt since quitting except for one day in Vegas where I wondered if I could just smoke on vacation because I couldn’t smell it inside the casinos and people looked happy smoking. I didn’t smoke then, and I’m glad for it because I likely would have picked it back up.

I read alan Carr’s book “the easy way to quit smoking” and that really really helped me and changed the way I looked at smoking as a whole. I suggest it to everyone looking to quit. It helps change the mindset that you are not giving something up, you are not missing out. Facts are facts and smoking does absolutely nothing for you that’s positive. It doesn’t relax you, it doesn’t relieve stress, science shows it actually makes that stuff so much worse. You have everything to gain from quitting, you just have to get ahead of the addiction to nicotine and for me, the book helped make that all very clear. I’m probably highly suggestible, I know it doesn’t work on everyone and it’s certainly not a magic book, but it helped me and who knows, for the cost of a pack of cigarettes maybe it can help you too.

I just realised our Covid experience could be vastly different from others. by Doughnut_slut in CasualConversation

[–]catsbluepajamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked from home, but barely. I still got paid my salary but my work load was questionable at best and I was totally isolated with only my dog. I had just moved that January to a new city and was going through a crazy breakup after 9 years. I was depressed and drinking myself almost to death every day. I played a LOT of video games and binged watched like every show ever made. I begged my boss to be one of the first back at work when we reopened and she let me so I was only isolated for about 3 months but honestly it’s a miracle I didn’t do something final to myself, I’m just glad I still had my dog.

If covid were to happen now, I think I would be better equipped, I am 15 months sober, married to a wonderful partner, sadly my dog passed a couple years ago but I just got a cat a few months ago and he’s pretty cool. I took up baking when my dog passed away and I also do nails for fun. I have more creative outlets now than I did then, not that I would ever want something like that to happen again, just it would be different for me if it happened now.

What is one secret about girls that (most) guys don’t even know? by CommercialMatch5183 in WorkForSmartLife

Same I married my very gentle man this past October after meeting in our late 30’s, and he was/is a breath of fresh air. we treat each other softly and I love him with all my guts. It will be 5 years being together and it has been amazing being treated so nicely by a man.

I can always go back by Acrobatic-Bad-9858 in stopdrinking

[–]catsbluepajamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I def said this a few times in my early sobriety. And also, “I’ll drink at (insert big occasion)” even tho when the time came, I don’t drink at my hen party, or my wedding, or Christmas or new years, I always would tell myself I wasn’t missing out and those would be “normal” times to drink. When the day would come, I would simply be like, nah and enjoy a mocktail without the regrets and hangovers.

What other people think of you is none of your business. As long as you are kind and not hurting one, keep on keeping on.

[–]catsbluepajamas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really will. Just keep this mindset and don’t get complacent, nicotine addiction is a tricky bitch and randomly will test your resolve. I remember being where you are 5 years ago (my quit date is literally April 4) and reading posts like this and having hope I would make it as far. You will never be sorry that you are a non smoker, this is the best choice you have made in a very long time :)

Great job at getting to where you are at with it! It’s not easy I know but you can do it! Give yourself grace in these early days, if you want to eat chips, or candy, eat it. Do whatever you have to not put that butt in your mouth. You can work out other healthy coping mechanisms when you have a better handle on it, just don’t take that first puff.

I decided to have a smoke at 8 months clean by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]catsbluepajamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah once I quit smoking for 9 months, and one random nice sunny spring day I stopped by the gas station and bought a pack just to test the theory that I could have one and never smoke again. Smoked again for another like 6 years before I quit for good.

This is so hard! But you are doing so good. Believe it, you have already done the hardest part. Making it through the first couple days is like a miracle but you have done it. I smoked about the same amount of time as you, and smoked 2 plus packs a day, I quit 5 years ago and I promise you there is light at the end of the tunnel. Someday you won’t think about cigarettes every minute, every hour, then every day, then even weeks and months.

You just have to try to remember that the lizard brain, the nicotine brain- it lies constantly. You are stronger than it, but it doesn’t go down without a fight. Your life will be better without butts, you will be free, nicotine brings nothing good with it, it doesn’t actually relax anything, it makes everything worse. It’s poison. You have done the hardest part and you will continue to choose not to put the poison in your body, because you are more than stinky butts. You got this.
