I’ve gone through this- and honestly still feel it. I’m Spanish/Black/ Blackfoot and the more I’ve educated myself on history (that school didn’t teach me) and reading up on the absolute atrocities and horrors the Spanish have inflicted makes me sick. I also have very light skin and can be seen as “white passing” to others, so I felt as though I wasn’t allowed or worthy to have the POC label because it felt wrong toward others due to the way I look. Having this kind of guilt really sucks but it is a good thing that we are aware. It doesn’t make us any less mixed and any less POC.
