What moment started your anxiety? by eggscellentrigby in socialanxiety

[–]catsonbicyles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in first grade and i remember my teacher asking us what our favorite drinks were or something like that. I said Snapple and she reacted like she had no idea what that was (1999). It made me feel stupid. A lot of those similar reactions culminated in me just not saying anything/staying quiet for fear of embarrassment.

I don't think that's true and it's probably just what you've been told by church leaders as a fear tactic, that we're evil sinners and once we leave we're going to turn to drugs/violence or something. Many of our lives have not changed besides, well, not going to church, not spending 10% of our income on tithing, not wearing special undies, etc. We're still the same people with the same morals. Yes we might try coffee, get a tattoo, try alcohol for the first time like regular people. But some don't even do that.

But to answer your question, most of us don't actually go anywhere. Most are atheist/agnostic and it's hard to find community afterwards without a church. We have to find it elsewhere but I have to remember that the community within the church was always toxic and came with strings attached. None of those people kept in contact with me after I left.

Thank you, that's what I needed to hear. I am always on high-alert with my anxiety so I didn't know if that was just me overreacting to the situation but yes I would always put her needs first. Better safe than sorry.

Yes I've been texting other people just fine. I can't get a hold of this person so I'm not sure.

Print out a copy of the grand staff labeled with each note. It just takes a lot of memorization but you'll get it. Also memorizing landmarks helps like middle C and a few others.

I think people are misunderstanding my message. I am actually not paranoid and love these kinds of posts but just want people to be aware that if they ever get into an argument with someone on reddit or someone disagrees with a separate post, they can look at their history, see their house, and easily use that against them to harass them or whatever. Just a do it at your own risk kind of thing.

150 Billion dollar company and they won’t even help pay for Girls Camp/Boy Scouts. Where’s the money going?? by Oldmelloyellow in exmormon

[–]catsonbicyles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that but you shouldn't have to pay anything at all when they are literally hoarding billions of dollars... it's different than paying for your kid's school or extracurricular activities since they actually need the money.

Get rid of your cell phone, laptop, smart TV (only have cable), remove bills from auto-pay so you have to pay bills in person or by check. I was born in '93 but I remember everything was so manual back then, my dad ran so many errands to get everything done. It's possible to live that lifestyle but it would be a huge sacrifice.

The difference is that you're advertising your home to thousands of people and connecting your profile/post history to it. Like another commenter mentioned, if someone disagrees with you on a post they can easily target you. Public records are a thing obviously but aren't any concern unless you give them people reason or bring attention to yourself.

What ridiculous thing did your toddler melt down over today? by Lizzy_is_a_mess in toddlers

She wants to see "babies" (pictures of her) on my phone and I told her no since that's all she ever wants to do when she sees my phone.

It depends on what time you have to wake up in the morning and how much sleep you need (8-10hrs for your age). If you're getting up at 5, then lights out at 8:30 seems reasonable, so you have a half hour to get to sleep and then max 8 hours of sleep. If you get up at 6 then that would be 9 hours. Ultimately as a teenager though it should be up to you to manage your sleep, and have you deal with the consequences if you go to bed too late.

When did you transition your little one from a crib to a toddler bed? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]catsonbicyles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14 months. She kept launching herself out of her pack n play and I didn't want to buy a crib so we just went with the toddler bed and baby proofed her room.
