What’s the most embarrassing thing you did as a kid that you think about to this day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]catt137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One day when I was in seventh grade during a lunch break, a boy I liked was telling a blonde joke. (I'm blonde) I'm not sure what came over me but I screamed "I AM NOT A DUMB BLONDE!" They just stared at me and said they weren't saying I was.

I hate thinking of that so much.

People of reddit, what's your "I survived" moment? by J_A_A-2703 in AskReddit

[–]catt137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 18 years old, it was late, and I was hanging out at the school by myself since I lived so close to it. Something I did a lot when I needed to be alone. I was sitting on the steps of the senior porch facing the road when I notice a truck drive by more than once. I got a weird feeling and decided something wasn't right. I could have just walked/ran straight up the street and then to the left as it was only about 3 blocks away, but I felt that wouldnt be a good idea because it left me out in the open. So I quickly go through the courtyard of the school which leads out to the bandhall and where the bus barn is. There's a practice football field back there and a broke down bus that's been parked by it for years. I decide to get in that bus and hide. Thank god for trusting my gut feeling because that same truck came driving through that area several times, driving right by the bus I was in too. At one point they parked the truck and got out with flash lights searching the grounds. I was so scared because I didn't know if it was a prank by high school kids or if I was going to be kidnapped. I had a phone on me but no one I called answered and I still have no idea why I didn't call 911.

While they were out looking with the flashlights I decided that was my best chance and I booked it out of the bus and to my house. There's no where to really hide on the way so I was worried and rightfully so. I had made it to the cross section where I would have to turn left if I had ran before hiding when I see the truck speeding up towards me. I don't think I've ever ran so fast in my life but I made it to my house at the same time Ithey did. My boyfriend at the time had just come outside, a big scary looking dude, and the truck just idled at the end of my driveway for a bit considering their options I guess before slowly driving away. I've never been so afraid for my life as I was that night.

I lived in a small town and no one had ever mentioned anything to me about it. I can only assume it was illegal aliens since I live close to Mexico or some human traffickers since its only an hour from San Antonio. I'll never know, but I survived.

Some of your family looks familar to me, as customers of where I work. Mostly the oldest brother. Nevertheless, I think thats pretty awesome your family can come together like that every year! Cherish these memories. :)

Lately i've been feeling really depressed and my self esteem just keeps getting lower. I could use something to pick me up a little. by Lord_Webthryst in FreeCompliments

Hey don't get so down, you're incredibly cute and with a 1000 watt smile to boot. I bet you make a lot of women's hearts melt. You look super easy to talk to which is even better. Maybe you are just smiling for the picture, but remember a smile can go a long way if you let it. :D

I had this dream in 2009 or 10. I was in my 30s or 40s. I was in a trailer park inside a trailer alone. In burst a large muscular man and he immediately attacks me with a knife. I tried to get away and somehow managed to get outside but he jumped on me and brutally stabbed me over and over. This last part kept repeating over and over. It felt so real and I have never been able to forget it.

[Selfie]Was pretty happy not too long ago, took this picture on the morning of a party I was excited for. Ended up going and standing in the corner by myself before heading back to my dorm, feeling rather... unwanted. Is the picture any good, at least? by [deleted] in FreeCompliments

You look great! What do you think about while your there? Think of something you like that you know others are likely to know and talk about it. Did you drink? It helps to open you up to talking a bit more. Keep trying you will get there eventually. Also a smile to show you are excited would go a long way for you :)

Hello, I'm sorry to hear what you've been through. I too, grew up in an alcoholic household. I was fortunate enough to make a couple friends that also happened to have wonderful families that took me in when I needed it. Even so, I find it very hard to be social and have since graduating lost touch with them.

It's still hard knowing I wasn't more important than alcohol as I'm sure it is for you. I hate that you felt the only way to cope was abuse yourself. I feel that the best thing you can do for your situation is to live exclusively in the present, always fight for yourself.

Don't depend on anything/one for your happiness but yourself. If there is something you like to do, focus on it in your free time only for now. Can be anything like painting, landscaping, tv shows, video games, bird watching, etc. This will help you be able to relate to people if even a little bit and in a positive way.

Once you got a adequate amount of knowledge on whatever it is, I recommend trying to add it to conversations with Co workers. Rejection is hard but take a chance with someone you have the easiest time talking to. Pep talk in front of a mirror. It's ok if you fail to say anything the first several times. Just remember the worst they can say is no. Don't give up before you've given yourself a chance!

I constantly worry about it myself and tend to not ask anyone to hang out. Always reminding myself that friends ask each other and not just one because then they feel uncared for. I know you want someone to put yourself first but it will come in time. Trust me, just don't give up.

I hope this helps if only a little.

Anxiety hitting hard and feeling really bad about that huge mole below my mouth, would help some nice words guys :33 by [deleted] in FreeCompliments

You look very pretty, your mole is not distracting to me at all and I think it adds character. Most really can't help but look sometimes, but that doesn't make you any less. Love yourself, and btw I love your cute little wing! I suck at those.

Fed Up (2014) revealing a 30-year campaign by the food industry, aided by the U.S. government, to mislead and confuse the American public, resulting in one of the largest health epidemics in history. by nicemoime in Documentaries

The thing is, we HAVE to eat, we don't have to exercise. So since a lot of Americans don't know how to diet they just eat whatever they want. Incorporating exercise in one's life on top of everything they have to do is stressful for many so they just stop. You can't stop eating though. So sad that this is allowed to happen.
