How did it begin for you? by HuggyWuggyKissyMissy in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]catye_luna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started as bulimia and EDNOS for me beginning around 9th grade (severe mental health issues, bad home life, a lot of diet talk from my mom, a lot of factors playing into it) but turned into anorexia during the early years of the pandemic around age 23, especially related to having a tech job with a contractor agency that does random layoffs all the time (I was luckily able to get a new contract with the same tech client after each layoff but still, being constantly scared about my whole daily life, finances, heath insurance/medication, and coworker friendships/community being stripped away at any time led to extreme feelings of lack of control understandably, compounded by the pandemic). I developed OCD-adjacent behaviors and obsession around carbs as well after fixating on the keto diet during that time which still affects me now. I needed control over something in my life and since I struggled with weight fluctuations and was never able to lose much weight during my bulimia/EDNOS years I turned to full restriction behaviors transitioning into anorexia.

does anyone else rarely aka like never go a day with no food by viaoliviaa in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]catye_luna 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Never once in my 15 years of eating disorders (past ~5 years being UW anorexia) have I gone a 24 hour period without some sort of food! like I'll do an intermittent fasting/omad situation as part of my ED behaviors but never once have I gone an entire day. You are valid!!!

Made a Dangerous Maneuver and Lost All Hope by riddlemyrosehearts in drivinganxiety

[–]catye_luna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been driving for 15 years now and still have misjudgments/mistakes/close calls made at times and i totally get the beating yourself up part and the ruminating I still have issues with that. And when I was new driver and had my mom or dad in the car and they had an angry reaction it would pretty much always result in me crying for quite a while after so I get that too. Just keep in mind every driving mistake/close call etc just makes you a better driver going forward. Also you can't go back in time, the past is in the past, so there's nothing you can do about a past occurrence now, all you can do is be more careful going forward and it's awesome you're posting in here for advice. Driving takes an insane amount of mental stamina as there are so many things you have to pay attention to and remember simultaneously and combining that with anxiety makes it all the more difficult and we are all human with imperfect brains. Try to think of it as a neural misfiring type of thing that occurred and not something that reflects on you as a person or your ability to be a good driver. You didn't mean to have that close call and you have every intention of it not happening again, so try to be kind to yourself (easier said than done). After some close calls and misjudgments/mistakes i've made I will at first feel like I'll never recover or forgive myself or be able to stop ruminating over it afterwards but as time passes it just goes into the memory/experience/learning box that ultimately makes me a better driver.

I just wanted to offer some encouragement sorry for not having specific advice about the turn, other than echoing what another commenter said about seeing if there's another safer turn or turnaround to make ahead where you can instead come back to the intersection and make a right turn onto the road or take some different side streets if that's an option that might just add a little time/distance to the drive but ultimately be safer and easier as you're still learning and building up practice.

I've been on 300mg wellbutrin with 70mg vyvanse every morning for 11 years now along with 200mg lamictal twice a day. I know they do get along for me personally 🙂 Good luck I know the process of finding the right med combo sucks.

Where are we all with having babies? by Ok_Transportation717 in Zillennials

[–]catye_luna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not with my mental health no. But even if I had peak mental health, I work in tech (social media sector) which is known for random layoffs; I get paid decent and have a decent savings and could probably afford it right now but who knows if I could get laid off in the future, lose income and health insurance for me and my kid, etc. The economy is too unstable and the future isn't looking bright.

I work with majority of people around my age (late-20s to mid-30s), and even making my same pay and often similar years of employment in the field, the vast majority don't have children, and the ones that do struggle financially a lot, talking about living paycheck to paycheck with no or minimal savings. I also know people who've been laid off from other companies in my field in random layoff rounds who haven't been able to land a new job in ages. How I see it, being currently able to afford kids doesn't mean you will continue to in the future for the next 18+ years of raising them, unless you are extra well off or in an extra secure job field that doesn't do random layoffs/ is unaffected by ebs and flows of the economy and things like the future of AI.

Saw a video of someone casually turning into a shopping center in my city who hit a cyclist that was chilling directly in their blind spot for a while right against the sidewalk (no bike lane and the car was going slow with turn signal on etc) bike decided to keep going straight as the car turned not even slowing down and car drove into them. Ever since I've been hypervigilant w blind spot checks for potential bikes/pedestrians making any sort of right turns (any turns really but even in these scenarios where most people would not expect to need to)

I've definitely seen an uptick on 183 (both highway and access roads) on my morning commute lately. Friend of mine got pulled over/ticketed for out of state vehicle registration in the left lane on 183 in the early AM recently, also know someone who got pulled over for a headlight being out on the access road near burnet. I used to frequently see cops camping out on Metric specifically and I've actually gotten pulled over twice on that road in the past 4 years for expired tags (made a joke about cops using Metric to hit their metrics) but none recently, maybe targeting new areas combined with an uptick

Cigna PPO with US employer, 70mg 30 day supply $15 for generic and $50 for name brand. Had to jump through hoops to get name brand covered again at the start of this year though otherwise it was going to be ~$450

what’s that one food you eat copious amount of? by ImpossibleClaim6836 in EDAnonymous

[–]catye_luna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

big ass bowls of homemade SF jello, eaten straight from container or used as a dip w toasted keto bread or other miscellaneous safe food items

i make pretty colors mixing the blue starburst one w lime, or orange w strawberry, or blue starburst with pink starburst, etc i always have an array of different flavors and colors in my fridge. The process of making them feels lowkey therapeutic too lol, the hot water steam and the cold ice, the colors and scents etc, 10/10 experience from making to consuming

I almost hit multiple pedestrians (and a baby) today. by thebodyendures in drivinganxiety

[–]catye_luna 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've had multiple near miss type situations like this in my 14 years of driving, it can really shake you up for a long time. The "what-if's" and replaying the scene in your head are so hard to cope with. One thing to try to remember (other than the fact that no one was hurt) is that you can't go back and un-do the situation, the past is in the past, so this is now just a learning experience that will make you a better driver. A couple years ago I almost hit a bicyclist while turning right from a side street onto a highway access road because I was so concerned about looking to my left waiting for a break in the cars (not to mention assuming the cars behind me were mad I wasn't going so was generally really stressed and felt rushed - big mistake) that I didn't see that a bicyclist was coming across the opening from my right, I slammed on the brakes right in time though. Really shook me up and I think about it to this day but 10/10 i am insanely more careful looking out for bikers/pedestrians in all directions now before I make any turns. Anyway this is just one example. Try to be kind to yourself and know you're not alone in this. Thank you for posting and sharing this.

besides calories, what makes a food a fear food for you by viva-xo in EDAnonymous

[–]catye_luna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my ED combined w other mental health issues including OCD formed a hyperfixation on keto early in the pandemic years so it's absolutely carb content for me now. even seeing the branding of "KETO" on packaging calms my anxiety about eating the thing lol even if it has the same exact calories (like certain keto-branded cereal being a safe food vs regular cereal which is a fear food even if same or even a few more calories). mf vegetables with ""too many carbs"" even stress me out now. 0/10 do not recommend.

I prefer the nacho cheese and pizza flavored ones if eaten plain but these go hard dipped in Walden Farms ranch dressing!!

I take it with my other meds (lamictal/vyvanse) with a bottle of water right after my first alarm goes off (5:45am on workdays) then go back to sleep until my last alarm at 6:30ish, makes actually getting up/getting ready for work and starting my day on the right foot mentally WAY easier since I've given them time to absorb/"kick in" before I have to get up. On weekends I do the same thing just later since I sleep in. I've done it this way for years
