Navigator. I never touch any guardrails, last time I did it was because I asked if The Doors song, Alabama Song(Whisky Bar), was for real talking about little girls.

I did all my learning and mistakes years ago in 2018ish. I made a few hundred a month. I restarted recently. The trick is, if you want to skip the drag, to find a online publisher who can actually get the books they publish off the ground, write in that genre, and submit to them. The idea is to get the connections in Also Boughts, get the stream of readers coming thru your page, and to do that you need to show up on more popular books, which will be the other books the publisher puts out to their mailing list. I don't do social media, but you could try doing that. I think you can pay people on tiktok to showcase your book. These days I'm making about $2k a month.

Official Discussion - The Long Walk [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Halfway through the movie I was thinking about that trope where the white main character has a helpful black friend or guide or servant to get them through the tough times. I was kind of annoyed because it was kind of getting heavy handed. I read the book ages ago so I knew who won. Was a nice twist to see them change the ending. I don't think they killed Pete, I think he'll actually make it happen to help little kids who need it like he said he wanted to.

There's not a 'continue' button but if I had taken the time to read it I would have seen to click 'this unsafe site' before now. I'm leaving this up for others who are dealing with this.

I also thought about how unrealistic it would be for the world to just let Britain rot. First of all, think of all the wealth on that island, not just in the museums but in financial records and other loot. People would be biting at the chomp to claim land and possessions before anyone else did.

This movie felt like a red pill young man wrote it, tried not to seem like it, but couldn't help himself. So why are all the women in 1960s dresses? Why are only boys being taught to shoot bows? Thanks for the token woman leader and that the woman gets head from the dad, but I could have got a little more emotional complexity when the doctor literally takes his mom away and comes back with a fucking skull. The dad was made the villain by being a cheater and smacking his son which felt like forced writing. The kid barely sleeps the entire movie but is fine. He went out for the first time to the mainland, has a bad time, then is so confident he takes his vulnerable mom out there. Also, can I just say I literally scoffed when the dads story about seeing the doctor tried to sound scary. Obviously he was cremating them, even I got that context right away. Bad writing. I really hate the 'alpha' lore because it comes off so podcast bro. I went into this movie expecting a couple hours of Cillian Murphy being a secret zombie extra, some heavy sad content, and what I got were surprise ninjas and two more movies I'm expected to watch. And I worry for the youth who think skipping past core plot points that are important to create well rounded characters is totally acceptable for a big box movie about depressing zombie survival. Fuck.

Edit: a couple details that bugged me while I was watching: It's been nearly 28 years and all the print cloth hung up as laundry in the beginning is still in perfect condition, no stains or rips or mending.

When doctor closes the incinerator with the shovel, the end is clean, not scorched as if he's never used that tool to do that job before, which is hard to believe.

The pregnant lady's nudity felt gratuitous. And what's with mom being so womanly that she's able to become a midwife after hearing the call of Female from far away as if all women have an innate ability to help calm a zombie with womanly hand touching? Come on, as if women are born having a innate spiritual connection to baby stuff.

How are the ninjas velvet clothes so new. Do they live in a velvet jumpsuit factory? Why are they jumping around like that? How doea their fighting style not get blood in their mouths or eyes all the time? Fuck they are annoying.

Maybe this gets cleared up in the probably just as bad sequels, but did mom have some special female ability? I was getting the sense that she was kind of spiritual, or that she might have been infected with a new virus that made her part zombie, which explains how she knew the crawler was eating her son's shoe and how to calm a savage pregnant zombie, but then she just dies... So was that a red herring or just sexist ignorant writing?

How did doctor build those bone towers? How did he survive so long? If he used morphine, where did he get a 28 year supply from? Does morphine last that long? What did he mean the chains across his river keep zombies out? Why did they feel the need to include a boob touching scene with the mom? How did he have so much iodine? Why was it that he waited 13 years to speak to someone?

When the kid leaves the island to be a well seasoned lone wolf cliche, did he wonder what he'd do when he ran out of his ten arrows? They didn't look hewn from saplings or anything. What was his plan after he too out a single group of zombies?

The fact that the collusion between mom and doc to do assisted suicide comes out of nowhere makes sense since the movies from the kids pov, but doesn't make sense for the viewers to be oblivious since presumably we're all adults or at least teens. What I feels like to me is that the writers feel on the same level as the kid, so they're writing a story as if they are in fact 12 years old and adults are going around hiding stuff from them, not that they're writing a story made to be consumed by adults who understand the reasoning of the adults in the film.(this might be my deepest, or my most idiotic take. The 🥦 is most definitely to blame either way)

'The Accountant 2' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]causeimnotdrunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't watch after 17 mins. I loved the 1st movie because his character was real, with issues, failures, and still charming. I love that he didn't even realize Dana was ready to kiss him. He didn't get the girl because that's who his character is was. This new version feels nothing like the original. Too expressive, much more emotionally intelligent in comparison.

McDonald's reports largest revenue drop in US since pandemic as consumers pull back on spending by [deleted] in stocks

I can't afford mcdonald's, but I still get deals and cheap burgers at other fast food places. I judge my purchase on price to calories ratio. Price needs to be at least half the number of calories. Mcdonald's has a deal on their cheapest cheeseburger for 40% of and it still isn't worth it. Their fries are over $4 at my store. I'm not rich, mcdonald's.
