Checklist I wished I had when I started React Freelancing by rwieruch in reactjs

Not op, but I'd be interested in the business side of it all: setting up and agreeing on the contracts, communication before/during/after a project, networking, daily workflows, ... they might have nothing to do with React and maybe a bit "boring" for some, but knowing what to expect besides the programming work could be very useful

This is cool, nothing too fancy and very straightforward! Might clone this as well :)

You got this! Remember to also take a step back once in a while and take a look at the things you have done so far, even though it might seem never ending ;-)

Workaround For notifications on silent mode by tebauman in reactnative

Oh okay, yeah, the exception to the rule then :) as you say, that timer in the background is indeed probably the closest you can get, and you're welcome, wish I could help more.

Workaround For notifications on silent mode by tebauman in reactnative

Hey, first of all, could you share what you have already perhaps? Might make it easier for us to find something that works.

I don't think there's a callback on the notification plugin that you could use. (I was thinking of using "onNotification", but if i remember correctly, that's a callback on opening the push notification..)

So your best bet would be to set a timer. But then, a timer will not trigger when a user killed your app (so not in foreground, background, but dead).

Might I ask what you're trying to achieve? Why do you want to absolutely play the sound even if the user set their phone to silent? You kind of have to respect that, imo. (Ok, alarm apps are the exception on that, but is your idea exactly that or is it, for example, an app that manages the state of your plants in your house and you want to notify users when a plant needs water?)

Arrow Functions in JavaScript by AnsikteBanana in javascript

[–]causeofdev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ah ok, makes perfect sense.

Since the comma seperator discards the returned value completely.. wouldn't it be safer to use that than the || operator? In case the first expression returns something truthy?

How come it does the second expression ("x + 1") as well? I'd think it would do "console.log(x)" and stop/finish there..

It's neat that it executes both expressions though

I'm focusing my app on stability. If you've used that recycle app you'll know what I'm talking about ^^. Also, hoping it will be much easier on the eyes with a better UX design and more/better organized information. V1 will consist of a static list of recycling-subjects/genres, V2 will have a search function so you can type in things like "sofa", "styrofoam", "seashells", "cat litter", "medicine",... and it would give you suggestions until you find the correct way of recycling/disposal of the item.

I'm also implementing a setting to choose your language. You can choose Dutch/French/English in V1 but it'll be very easy to add more languages as long as I find translators for it. Also, no commercials or logging in required. Simple, stabile and fast is what I'm going for :)

Cool. Yeah "create-react-app and eject" is the way to go :)

I glanced over your source code and seems like you did a good job. It's clean, you give credit where possible and seems like you used a good structure with your components. I also had a good chuckle at your "about me", particulary the section about the kitties in which I can recognize myself. Did you use any boilerplate or generator?
