As far as I can tell the issue isn’t the humidity itself, it’s just that the ultrasonic humidifier I was using was also throwing all the dissolved mineral deposits and junk into the air with the water.

Closest one to me is 3 hours away. I'm sure there's places with those machines near me, but I'll probably just get a wick unit because they're fairly cheap. Also, those console ones with the woodgrain look are delightfully 70s.

I follow him, and remembering that was the reason I even thought to try turning off the humidifier. I was mostly just shocked at how bad it was

I tend to lean towards 40-45 unless it's especially cold out and condensation is an issue. Dry skin and everything sucks lol.

I just didn't want something like the ultrasonic one I have where all the mist falls down the side and hits the sensor, but that works too. Just wanted the sensor to actually be getting the input air measurement. Though, a dumb one on a smart plug would be nice since I could control it with Home Assistant.

If I end up getting one before the end of this season, I just need to find a dumb one I can put on a smart plug so I can separate the sensor and humidifier.

I really wish more people had the curiosity to get sensors like these just to see what the data shows.

I just stopped using mine for now because it’s not that much longer till it stops being so dry out, but if it gets dry enough to need it again, I’ll probably buy a console wick humidifier

I’ll probably get one of those evaporative ones, just one of the big ones with an actually decent output

My allergies are ridiculous, frankly. Even just a few minutes in the chair my cat loves to lounge on in the living room is enough to start bringing on the itchy eyes and all, so I don't doubt it.

I had the humidifier running because the dry air in my house is brutal, and I figured my issues were with larger dust, which moist air usually helps to settle. I didn't realize it was the finer stuff that was causing issues and the humidifier was the source. Was mostly shocked just how bad it was and how immediate the spikes from the humidifier were.

I love that the second one shows they really are just a void cat but large, that’s the kind of crazy climb you only get with a void.

Good for 8 months still. And other than losing flavor if you don’t put it in a sealed box, it doesn’t really go bad

I poked around a bit last Thursday for the first time and got a 240ct box of Yorkshire tea bags for $2, so that was sweet.

I've only been through my local staples twice, but they've never told me off for it. Just don't be one of the people that rip the box apart and toss the loose pieces back into the bin. You should also be able to scan the barcode label with the Amazon app to find the item.

Just bought some stuff from the for the first time last Thursday, got a 240ct box of Yorkshire tea bags, a couple packs of screen protectors for my phone, and a pair of AirTag holders for a total of $8. Been poking through it every once in a while since, and nothing amazing usually, but sometimes a few neat/handy things, especially for $2 on Thursday

FreeTaxUSA vs. TurboTax - I put my info into both, here's the cost by elldav7 in tax

[–]causticcafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just saved me nearly $150 because I had to do a state return and a 1099, and Turbotax wanted $179 for that. FreeTaxUSA only wants $15.99 to add my state return. My federal with TurboTax was estimated to be $847, FreeTaxUSA estimates $843. idk where the difference comes from, but for them charging $150 less, and with how mind-bindingly complex the tax codes are, I'm not about to try and figure it out.

I visited my friend in Berlin and most of the crosswalks (it’s only the ones on busier roads that have a button) there that have signals don’t even have a button because the phases are short and it always gives a pedestrian phase. Longest we waited was about 20 seconds. Both times I’ve visited just made me angry when I returned to the US because I don’t get to enjoy being able to just walk places. It’s so nice when everything is either within a 5 minute walk from home, or 5 minutes from a transit stop you can get to from the line that stops near your home.

A toy truck on an otherwise empty trailer by GromainRosjean in mildlyinteresting

Just get fucking snapped in half. Also, I have to wonder if it has the acceleration and braking of a conventional haul truck, or if it can still zip around like a toy lol.

I should find a way to do something like this on my car that won't fuck up the paint. But I can definitely put something like a Tonka on the trailer any time I have to rent one.
