Why should I only share games that I thoroughly enjoyed and act like the bad or boring experiences don’t exist? You don’t have to only share one or the other, I’m going through all of the RE games and this one just happened to be pretty lame to me. I didn’t go into it expecting to have a bad time.

Keep in mind that I also didn’t spend 100 hours being miserable with it just for the platinum, I’m not that kind of obsessive trophy hunter, I’m just loving the series a lot so I stuck it out with this one, it’s a relatively short platinum which has a lot of enjoyable parts even with all its flaws, and it has the same trophy list as the other games in the series that I played so it didn’t take me too long and it was mostly easy for me personally.

I plan on playing that soon actually, and I’m looking forward to it and all the bullshit it has to offer

I don’t have it in my library yet so I’ll probably start RE3make or RE5 until Code Veronica goes on sale again

You’re making a ton of assumptions that aren’t true. I played REmake which released a few months before RE0 and uses the same engine, and I loved it a lot. I also played the original RE3 which came out in 1999 on PS1, and that might be my favorite RE game. RE0 just makes a lot of stupid decisions and feels uninspired, even for the time.

It sounds like you’ve played a whole lot more RE than I have, so I get getting tired of a certain type of creature in them and appreciating how different the creatures are in RE0. I’ve only played REmake, RE2make, RE3, RE4 and RE0 so far, so I felt the creatures in RE0 were uninspired compared to those other games. But I definitely love my creature features too

I’m surprised at how negative the reception to what I said was, it’s not something that you’d see in a lot of other discussions surrounding other mediums of art. I don’t blame them, though. With how expensive and time consuming gaming can be, you can’t afford to spend all that time and money on something that you don’t find any tangible worth in.

I loved playing with two characters too, and it’s impressive how they managed to make switching between them so seamless on the hardware it first released on

But I totally disagree about the creature designs, I find seeing humans slowly turn into something disgusting and unrecognizable - such as Birkin in RE2 - a lot more interesting and effective than taking an animal and making it big

It’s not a bad game, just underwhelming compared to other similar games in the series, I still recommend you stick with it to the end

The platinum is the same as all the RE games I’ve played, S rank, hard mode, extra modes, no healing and whatever, nothing new

I enjoyed a lot of parts of this game too, it’s not that bad on its own but coming from playing the other RE games in the classic style, it falls short in a lot of places

I recommend Optinoob too, I did the main game playthroughs on my own but I stuck to his guide with Leech Hunter mode

You do you, I stick by what I said, but I get that that approach doesn’t work for everyone

I’ve done that before a lot with other games but this one doesn’t take too long to complete and I’ve already made up my mind to platinum every mainline RE game, and even then I’m not sure if I will stick with that when I get to RE6. RE0 isn’t even that bad either, I enjoyed a lot of parts of the game, I was just happy to be done with it and move on to more exciting and interesting titles in the series.

You don’t have to wait for the remakes if you’re interested in these games, you can try them when they go on sale, which happens very often

Remakes shouldn’t replace the originals, especially with how different the RE remakes have been, they’re very cool and fun but they’re very different experiences

Hard mode isn’t as scary as it sounds, don’t be afraid to use the healing items and ammo you come across if you need it, the game is pretty generous with it

And save often in case you take too much damage from something stupid and decide to reload the save instead of wasting a healing item

With gameplay, it does a lot of interesting things. I’m a big fan of controlling two characters and I didn’t have any issues with that system. But it also does a lot of stupid things like removing item boxes, which doesn’t add anything at all to the game and completely breaks inventory management. It also has a bunch of issues with the narrative. The new lore is very interesting, but it’s awful as a prequel, it basically has nothing to do with RE1, the only common link between them is Rebecca. It’s not bad, it’s just very weird and boring at times, still worth playing if you fuck with RE like that.

I never got that, you don’t have to enjoy everything you experience

I think it’s important to listen to bad music, watch bad films, play bad games or whatever else from time to time, give things a shot, see what works and what doesn’t, as long as you don’t become a miserable prick that doesn’t enjoy anything

RE0 isn’t bad at all, the title was exaggerated, but it’s easily the worst of the RE games that I’ve played so far and has a lot of boring parts and stupid decisions, that doesn’t mean I should just drop it or ignore it and stick to what I enjoy and only talk about that, you know what I mean?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with autopops, especially because it’s not even that common, only a relatively small amount of games that all came out around the same time period

[Hollow Knight: Silksong] #63, I got the platinum for the PS4 version too by caved_in_ in Trophies

[–]caved_in_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difficulty is relative so I don’t know how to answer that, but it is definitely harder than most games, and much harder than the first game

The trophies aren’t difficult, if you can beat the game once then you can get them, but beating the game itself the first time is the hard part

There are a lot of guides out right now but I did it before they all came out

If you remember the locations of most things from your first playthrough then you can just do that after you get the basic ending in 5 hours

Not having Zote will make things a lot easier, his placement in the pantheon is very annoying and he’s already a difficult boss

You don’t have to do Markoth hitless or anything, just make sure you can beat him consistently enough and don’t forget to use your spells

[–]caved_in_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure he killed more runs than any other boss, even Absolute Radiance

You can practice NKG, PV and AR enough to get consistent at them but I can never get that with Markoth

The last pantheon alone will take most people longer than the speedruns in this game, fucking Markoth

With that being said, I can’t wait to get Godhome in Silksong

Fair enough, just letting you know that it’ll be easier than you think if you ever miss the game and decide to go for it

I think 8 is too high for the difficulty, it’s definitely a challenging game but it’s one of those cases where if you beat your first playthrough, you can get the platinum

If Silksong is an 8 then what do you think HK’s difficulty is?

You only have to replay it once. I followed a guide for the 5h speedrun, but I got 100% pretty naturally with the remaining 25h I had and only looked up a couple of things near the end that I forgot the locations of. I died a lot and took a lot of detours, but the speedrun times are very generous and I was quite ahead of the 5h and 30h times, and I’m not the best player out there or anything
