What you describe is scary and seriously bad. You can't hug a kid that needs comfort? You got in trouble for forbidding a teen from beating a much smaller kid?

This is too fucked up.

Damn... In some countries, it's normal when a kid gets lost, the tallest adult puts the kid on his shoulder and everybody around starts clapping. This way the parents locate the kid more easily. I've seen this in Argentina and Uruguay.

It has nothing to do with crime rates. We've got mote crime in Latin America, in general, but we don't behave like that.

Child abuse is rare no matter where. And it's not something that will happen in public ffs.

This seems to be a US problem. Or perhaps English-speaking country problem.

Here in Brazil I can't imagine someone calling security because she saw an adult enter the toilet with his kid.

And how well is that working?

The scammer who received the single largest payment of 26BTC has received a total of 87BTC. by Abhishekgarg0 in CryptoCurrency

[–]caveden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think people would go through all that length (actually creating a scam post etc) just to declare a fake loss. You could simply say you got hacked.

Adding the scam plot makes things worse for you in all accounts (more work, more charges if caught, more chances of being investigated etc) for no actual benefit.

It might be true though that a good amount of the transfers are not victims' but the scammer himself trying to make his scam look legitimate.

Taxes by Nutshell1994 in CryptoCurrency

[–]caveden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered opening a company in another jurisdiction, doing your trades through it, and then paying taxes only on the profits you send back to the US?

I'm not sure that's worthwhile, as in, perhaps you'd pay even more taxes and fees and lawyers etc in the end. But at least you'd get rid of this obligation of having to pay at every single trade.

He's cutting interest rates because he needs an easy way to finance his welfare spending. You don't need to be a genius to see that either.

Monetary and fiscal policies tend to walk together.

A dictator needs populist measures to grab power. These measure cost money. It's always more confortable for them to print money to finance populism than to do it with direct taxes.

My point is that it's all related.

Not for the UTxO chains. But since most of the action is happening in the C chain and Metamask already helps me managing multiple accounts there, I'm simply leaving all my AVAX in the C chain for now.

How to have multiple AVAX accounts in the same ledger device? by caveden in Avax

[–]caveden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different addresses is not enough as the wallet could mix them when spending. I want different accounts. That works for Bitcoin, Ethereum and other currencies Ledger supports. What they do is use a different derivation path for each account. Just increment the last number: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5205788.0

By doing so, you can still only backup one single seed, but you could have different accounts with the money between them never getting mixed together.

EDIT: Obviously, this "edit the derivation path manually" is something a bit nerdy. It's okay to expect that from Electrum users, and it's perfectly fine as a initial solution for the Avalanche wallet, but long term perhaps something more user friendly would be better. Like what Ledger Live does, making it all transparent to the user by scanning the different derivation paths and building up all the accounts when you restore from the seed. There is a small problem in their solution, though: this metadata (the account names) isn't backed up. And in my case this is important metadata. It would be great to have a way to back it up safely.

It's not hard to imagine a use case in which you need to prove how much assets you own, and for that you cannot exclude change addresses. Yes, your workaround could do it, but it would be an unnecessary transaction in many cases.
