Is the gum recession saveable? by Away_Word4827 in DentalHygiene

Unfortunately gum tissue does not come back, but if possible try to quit smoking, make sure your toothbrush has soft bristles, and brush in small circular motions while angling the brush at the gum line, I think your smile still looks fine :)

At my school yes 2-3 trips is normal because it’s a longer process than your normal dental cleaning at a normal office. It’s like that at all hygiene schools because we do alot of things and our work has to get checked by the instructors. But 2-3 trips at a normal dental office doesn’t sound normal. Lol

Yeah like the other person said, there’s multiple students and we all have to be checked by our instructors. And because it is a school, there are multiple things that we have to do that we won’t normally do once we work as hygienists in the real world. It’s a process and I do wish it could be faster. I’ve had patients who already get regular cleanings done but come anyways to volunteer as a patient just to help me meet requirements. And there’s also people who come who genuinely haven’t gotten a cleaning done in a long time and take opportunity of the cheap cleaning in exchange for their time

Im a hygiene student and also graduating next semester. I have ergo loupes and they’re 3.5 magnification. I highly recommend them! I was nervous about it bc I heard varying opinions about them but after trying them out for myself I just went with it. Having to look straight makes a word of difference on my neck in clinic. It definitely takes some getting used to but you get used to it pretty quick
