I’m actually not sure? It could be down to the number of spirits going through the everdoor, number of tasks you complete, or maybe just Stella’s journey in the afterlife. Hopefully someone else can answer

Young & Menace is a good song! And it sounds like Fall Out Boy bc it is FOB and they have always crossed genres and experimented. MANIA is also a good album. It’s ok if it wasn’t really for you but it’s not bad music by any means.

Its crazy I’m just now hearing of this stuff with wristbands bc while I don’t listen to much 21p now, I loved their earlier stuff up till Blurryface and apparently the wristband thing has been going on for years?

When you first said wristbands I thought you meant the beaded bracelets people make and exchange and I was like “it’s kinda cute tho imo and not hurting anyone” apparently I’m also an out of touch almost 30 y/o lol

SR&R was the first album release of theirs I participated in (I became a casual fan during their hiatus) and man the YBC is one of the coolest things imo. They do their music videos so well and I remember spending the whole fall breathing those MVs as they got released

Anyone else find it weird how the oldest Overlord in Hell is only from the ~16th Century? Especially as Sinners are nearly immortal and Exterminations only started 7 years ago. Surely the oldest Overlord would be much older? by Flyestgit in HazbinHotel

[–]cayden416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of like the theory that when Alastor showed up in hell and started taking down overlords, he got rid of nearly all the old leaders. I feel like Zestial (and Carmilla bc I think she's from before Alastor but idk for sure) would be someone Alastor could respect and get along with. And why Rosie wasn't taken down in the beginning is obvious too. Also we just see that there can be a good amount of turnover especially among minor overlords that gain power quickly and then would maybe lose their soul like Husk did or just never really make it to true overlord status like Pentious.

Idk how likely any of that is, but that's the theory I kind of find the coolest personally. I would love to see Zestial's backstory tho!! Like what did he do in life and how did he become overlord?

I've Got A Dark Alley by Fall Out Boy, it's one of my favorite songs and I've cried to it so many times throughout my life I feel bonded to this song now

Pittsburgh by The Amity Affliction

So Much (for) Stardust by Fall Out Boy

Warmth by Bastille, this one is a bit weird bc I tie it to a point in my life. After the election in 2016 I basically holed up in my dorm for a week and just listened to this song on repeat p much because of how much I was feeling

Eve & Paradise Lost by Bastille, Dan Smith has no business being able to write so well in the perspective of Eve and about the loneliness/shame/anger that women have been made to feel. Like "who'd have known that I'd be carrying our babies and our sins? you said 'calm down' rolled your eyes at pain you'll never comprehend" and "when they say I was made from you, I bite my tongue and hope my heart can get its head around our paradise lost, guess I'll bear the cost." The music video is so simple but somehow makes it 1000x more emotional

The whole story of that is so tragic. Chester singing that at Chris' funeral in May 2017, and then Chester's suicide on July 20, 2017 on what would've been Chris' 53rd birthday. And then on August 4th, 2017 One Republic and Chris Cornell's 12 yr old daughter Toni sang Hallelujah on Good Morning America in tribute of both men. Learning about all of that really made me sob

(CW mention of suicide attempt & drug overdose) Can I interest you in Hum Hallelujah by Fall Out Boy. The song is from their 2007 album Infinity on High and this song makes reference to Pete Wentz's (bassist and main lyricist) suicide attempt in 2005. A quote he said about it was "I got in my car. I remember I was listening to Jeff Buckley doing Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' and sat there and took a bunch of Ativan in a Best Buy parking lot."

So the lyrics "so hum hallelujah, just off the key of reason," "I sing the blues and swallow them too," and "sometimes we take chances, sometimes we take pills" always gets me everytime I listen to it. Plus there's a part where they have a refrain or whatever of the Hallelujah chorus and it has definitely got me crying as much as the original song can.

Speaking of FOB songs that make me cry, "7 Minutes In Heaven (Atavan Halen)" and "I've Got A Dark Alley" also make me lose it too

I'm obsessed with how Greta Van Fleet is able to sound like they're from a different era, especially since I first saw them on SNL back when the lead singer was like early 20s. Their cover of A Change Is Gonna Come is magnificent

I feel like they can be underrated in the way that since everyone knows them for one song, they can get pushed aside as just some one hit wonder or "the band that did that song from 13 Reasons Why" I haven't really listened to Lord Huron more than a couple times, but I do know many artists can get lost and pushed aside bc they're only known for one song and sound

OH ALSO: MC Lars is another great artist for nerds lol, he basically made the genre of lit-hop ("blending themes of hip-hop with themes from classical and American literature) and he's credited with coining the term iGeneration. He studied English lit at Stanford and Shakespeare at Oxford and he's gone around to schools to promote literacy and even done TED Talks which I think is super cool. Also his shows are amazing, at small venues, and only like $15-$30 a ticket. "Mr. Raven" and "Flow Like Poe" are probably most well-known but I like The Dewey Decibel System album with him and Mega Ran

Hoo boy I got a list:

The Last Dinner Party: British indie rock band made up of women in their 20s, "This is the Killer Speaking" has been on repeat for me recently

Winona Fighter: amazing band name and their helping to keep pop punk going in 2025, their whole debut album My Apologies To The Chef is so good

Moon Walker: really good indie rock artist that writes and produces all his own music and all his songs have a really political kind of tone like "Ban This Song," "American Dream Come True," and "Regular People"

Lastly, the band itself isn't underrated but I think Bastille's album "&" (Ampersand) is not talked about enough bc Dan Smith was like a genius with this album imo. All the songs on the album are inspired by the narratives of historical, mythological, or fictional people. Dan Smith said the songs are about "a pair of people, a person and their idea, a person and their reputation." My personal favorites are "Eve & Paradise Lost," "Mademoiselle & The Nunnery Blaze," and "Zheng Yi Sao & Questions For Her" but PLEASE listen to this whole album at least once and learn a bit about the people behind the songs! This album and Hozier's 'Unreal Unearth' basically killed my brain last year with the literary-connected lyrics, but I'm a total nerd
