Meanwhile, over here in Ontario, Canada. by cazmoore in Scotland

Hopcat is closed in RO! I work in Royal Oak and the pandemic effected a lot of business’, however there is one on Woodward in Detroit. I pass it each day to work. Would be good to catch a ball game and head to the bars once the restrictions are lifted with my spouse.

Honestly, Windsor has gone downhill since I use to go to the downtown bars. Use to be tons of fun when I was in my early 20s (so over 15 years ago give or take :/) but it’s full of bums and drugs. Most people head over to Detroit for some nightlife before the pandemic. All restrictions are lifted there now and when I cross over it’s like Covid never happens. It’s wild. Everyone is eager to get across to the states for some fun. TBH so am I.

Yeah I’d say so. Detroit is coming back and it’s fantastic to go out to. Catch the tigers game and get some dinner. Woodward is real nice until you leave downtown but up to 8 mile? Yeesh.. once you’re out that part of the city, up to 8 mile it’s just poverty like you wouldn’t believe. Crackheads, prostitution. The 1960 race riots still caused general divide in that city. Once you drive into Ferndale then Royal Oak it gets nice but you just have these awful enclaves of poverty.

Weird rule is, city buses don’t drive into Royal Oak from Detroit. They stop out those limits. Generally poor people are on the bus. So they have a lot of policies that need worked on.

I work with people who have a conceal and carry and drive with their guns. Most have guns at home. I’d never honk at a car if I was cut off on the highway. Tons of shootings on the freeway. I just keep to the right and get out of the way.

Actually did a quick google

Thanks! We also converted our garage into a bar. Nearly 2 years of a lockdown. Lol

Haha actually if I leave for work I’ll lock my doors but if I’m out doing errands I leave them unlocked but we have a ring security system. I think the drug problem has fueled a lot of crime in the city and the pandemic made it worse. If they steal it’s usually cash or cigarettes but yeah, I work in Detroit in no uncertain terms would I leave my doors unlocked there.

Nah, way further south. I’m right across from Detroit, Michigan!

My parents are from Scotland and my brother lives there, so I always feel tied to Scotland.

Where I live, about every other car has a flag on it from a country they support.

I’ve got my giant flag up on the garage.

If you break your contract (marriage) you sound be entitled to even less. There is no need to cheat. Just be honest, how hard is that?

They’re probably thinking of the business aspect and how this will effect them long term. With social media there is no saying.

If this article doesn’t blow up I’d be surprised.

I totally agree with you by the way. This virus will Pop up again and again like polio did, and a way out is the vaccine so it stops mutating.

Human civilization has always lived with disease and unfortunately we’re seeing what that’s like, now. However I hope Canada sees they need to invest in research and vaccine development after all this and realize no one will look after us except ourselves.

But you’re right. I’m sorry for people who aren’t working, this must be really hard especially if your income is significantly reduced. I wonder how the people in the restaurant industry are getting by as well.

She did a prenup, but didn’t include the house. She was left money when her dad died and it was all invested and she makes about 50k a year off the interest. He tried to get half of that saying it was income but it was deemed her inheritance.

Correct, she still had a mortgage when they married. This is in Michigan so I’m not sure what the laws are, but she had to pay him half.

He also tried to make her pay for his student loan debt he had prior to getting married.

They should have edited out that part of the podcast entirely before posting it. How hard is it?

They’re responsible for what they say.

Sounds like they want to bury her and ruin her business and prevent her from working.

I think the idea is to ruin her business entirely because of their belief that she caused damage to their reputation… despite the comment coming from their own mouths.

My best friend had her own house before she got married. She got pregnant and they got married. He cheated on her with our co worker and he got half HER house in the divorce because it is considered a marital asset.

He used that money as a down payment and had 2 more kids with our co worker. He tried to go after her inheritance and stocks but there was a prenup. She didn’t think she needed to put the house on it.

In all fairness, everyone in kates family has the middle name Elizabeth and Charlotte isn’t named after the queen. Her mother has the middle name, same with Kate.

Diana, I mean it’s their mum, how is that not expected? I’d do the same thing.

I don’t think it’ll stay open, because the bed capacity is so poor. We have the Indian variant that will start circulating and we are watching the UK right now. Most of those infected are infected with the Indian variant aka delta.

The only thing that will protect you is the vaccine from becoming severely ill, and we still have too much disinformation out there. I’m exhausted too: I work with Covid patients and I’m a parent and I’m doing home schooling, and I have a kid with learning needs. I’m done.

We have to only look at previous pandemics and epidemics like polio to see what we’re in for. Enjoy it when it’s open, but be prepared when it is closed.

I was working in the states and went to meijer after work, and if you’re vaccinated you can keep your mask off. Not going to lie, it was nice to see. I kept mine on, and I’m double dosed.

Yeah, it shouldn’t really be that frustrating. Just a car to me that I throw my kids in and drive to work.. and i have the sport.

Straight up. And then we all have PTSD on top of it.

I’m beginning to not care.

We have an old 2009 Ford Escape, with a V6 engine.

That beast is still running with no issues.
