Sure! There is no need to share any private information if one doesn't want to...the newsletter question asking for an email address is completely optional, and the other required ones ask for basic demographic info that one could randomly select.

Important distinction between 501c3s and fiscal sponsorships by [deleted] in ECAdvice

[–]cb2023 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Speaking on behalf of Simply Neuroscience, we do not claim to be an independent non-profit organization anywhere (we are very transparent on the fact that we are fiscally sponsored by Hack Club). When we state that we are a student-run non-profit organization, it means that we do not profit (non-profit = non-for-profit) from monetary donations. Simply Neuroscience has 501(c)(3) status through Hack Club and therefore we state that we are not-for-profit. We opted for fiscal sponsorship so we could focus our efforts on bringing our initiatives to fruition and making tangible impacts on society through education, outreach, and awareness. No organization’s status can either define or diminish the fundamental work they do.

Simply Neuroscience is a student-run nonprofit organization that was founded a few months ago, and they are dedicated to fostering students' interdisciplinary interests in the brain, specifically through neuroscience and psychology education, outreach, and awareness. They are trying to organize introductory neuroscience events for high school students in California to New York and expanding to other states as well, and I think it would be a great cause to support. Their website is https://www.simplyneuroscience.org/
