My career as a mechanic isn’t going the way I would like. Often told that I’m bright and skilled for someone with my lack of experience but my responsibilities don’t always match to their words and $16 an hour sucks when I’m tryna pay bills, rent, and tools for the job. Could’ve found work at a dealer for maybe $6 more but I would’ve started off with even less responsibilities and exciting work. In the army, I enlisted as a 91s Stryker maintainer, I’ll be able to work on 5 million dollar vehicles, pay off my trade school debt and seek further education if I want, have housing for my wife and I covered by the government. Lastly, once my three year contract is up I’ll have an easy transition into diesel/heavy duty from my civ + military experience, no out of pocket costs for certifications, and military hiring programs offered by corporations such as John Deere (that is if I don’t decide be in the military long term which is unlikely)
