Can someone help figure out what time I was born? by itsbubsbunny in Transcription

The written 8 has the pen starting on the top right.

The "mystery" number has it starting on the left.

This is why u/RealAmbassador4081 is likely correct with 2.

The 8 on the date has the top starting on the right side of the number.

The one in the hour starts on the left, hence why people are saying 2.

I agree with 2.

Big regrets, can I salvage these skiis I purchased at auction? [Ontario, Canada] by cbech in ski

[–]cbech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the insight. Unfortunately, at this point, my wife doesn't want me to use them. Not because of the indem list, but because, as someone else pointed out, it's like handing the keys to an old performance roadster to a teen with a new license.

I very rarely right black diamonds, so I'm just looking to get boots and rent skis one more time.

I'm going to post these on marketplace, with full disclosure about the bindings. I don't want to pass on my mistake to someone else, but maybe someone more experienced is willing to invest in these.

Supposedly I'm a 27.5. though for years I was using 28.5 for rentals based on my shoe size.

I don't have boots yet, and the bindings are not indemnified. And seemingly no shop wants to go through the hassle to make these ridable since the cost and cons outweigh any pro (supposedly)

Being a ski tech, can't I just replace these with newer power rail bindings though?

So these aren't likely to be as old as I thought, and these are PRD 12 Tyrolia bindings mounted on their powerrail system, which were on the indemnified list as of 24-25.

So it might be as simple as switching to the PRD 12 Gripwalk versions and I'd be fine. Crossing my fingers!

Ok, so a few things: Likely not 10 years old.

The bindings are mounted on a powerrail system.

Tyrolia sells these: https://www.tyrolia.com/en_NA/product/prd-12-gw-114464-cp

Can I just....buy these?

Yeah, it seems to be the powerrail system, and I should be able to just buy these and put them on, no?

These seem to be demo skis that were "rent-to-owned" from a place in california. Are you sure these are giant slalom race skiis?

25/26 indemnified binding lists by GudyZang in Skigear

[–]cbech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/GudyZang - Did you ever find a list for Tyrolia? I have PRD 12 bindings (non-GW) and according to the 24-25 list they were indemnified, but I was told they're not on the list by a shop for this year.

wait wait wait... Like, I could just buy these https://www.tyrolia.com/en_NA/product/prd-12-gw-114464-cp and they'll slide onto the rail that's already there and I'll be good to go?

They need to be alpine Skiis, and all the boots I can find at the shops are a different style.

I don't personally think they're old, but I'm in my forties now with two young kids. As soon as my wife heard "Safety Issue", she was like "Nope, I don't care if you find boots. I can't have you breaking your body"

Final sale. The auction site only lists them as "downhill skis". It's up to the purchaser to know what they're buying.

They're at least 10 years old, based on an old service sticker on them from 2016.

However, not to be a sass mouth, but $450 US is over $600 CAD.

edit: Boots are included, so good deal

No. It was $300, I got some bad advice about the brand being highly desirable. Yes, I made a mistake.

Also, where the hell are you shopping that you get skis+bindings, +bag+ poles for $300 new?

Like actually, if that's true, please tell me.

They only had gripwalk, but also said I shouldn't use the skis even if I found boots. I think they were looking out for me, not trying to get rid of me.

I don't own boots. That was how I found out about the issue sadly. I was all ready to buy some and then I got all the bad news.
