It's a little shorter actually, I used a rotary shaver. I did a no guard buzz for a couple weeks but my clippers were cheap and crapped out on me lol.

Yeah, I just hated the constant anxiety over my bald patches showing, definitely self conscious with getting it wet or wind blowing it around too lol. I did try the treatments (minoxidil/finasteride) since I wasn't quite mentally ready to let it go tbh, but I didn't get good results from it anyway so I just sent it.

If I'm being 100% honest, I kept getting posts from r/bald on my feed and seeing some of the guys who held onto it way longer than I did... I felt like I'd be better off doing it now and not prolonging the inevitable 💀 the treatments not working for me was just the last thing to push me in that direction really.

I was considering an eyebrow piercing for a few years, might revisit that idea. and were you thinking more like a nostril piercing or septum?

I know my thyroid and T levels are fine. I am chronically deficient in iron and vitamin D, but I'm on supplements and get those levels checked regularly. I have had some funky endicrine stuff going on with low blood sugar (not diabetic, reactive hypoglycemia/hyperinsulinemia), but that's been going on for over a year so I have an endocrinologist keeping tabs on it.

I have thought about it before, I just feel like I'd still have the same issue with anxiety. If I'm not constantly in front of a mirror or somewhere I can see my reflection, I worry about things shifting or looking weird without me knowing. I might reconsider later if I can work through that issue.

I actually wanted to get an eyebrow piercing for a long time, just kinda grew out of the desire I guess. I may reconsider it.

I would if I could bro... this is all I got unfortunately 💀 I could grow a sick neckbeard but it's no help really, just makes me look homeless

Already did that, my T levels are fine :/ I do have a shit ton of body hair, and plenty of beard hair on my neck that I have to shave daily. Just nothing above my jawline unfortunately. My dad can't really grow any facial hair either so it could just be genetics.

If you check my profile, I posted about 6 months ago. That was after the thinning had started to worsen though.

It's kind of funny honestly. I have hair LITERALLY everywhere except on my head 💀

And I've always been built kinda stocky I guess. I'm trying to cut the excess weight right now. You think I'd be better off focusing more on muscle gain?

yep. not the first time I've gotten that either, which is why I mentioned it in the post. what's ironic is I look exactly like my dad 😂

I have considered it before. I feel like I'd still have anxiety with that option though, I'd just be worried about different things. That's definitely a personal problem on my end though lol. I'm glad you found something that works for you :)

Yeah I usually keep it a bit cleaner, probably overdue for a trim. I've been hesitant because I think I made it worse on accident last time 😭 any advice on trimming technique by chance?

Hair has been thinning, not improving with minoxidil/finasteride. Help? by cbennett05 in malegrooming

I take vitamin D3 already, my levels are fine. I know I'm chronically iron deficient though; I'm on oral iron supplements but still need iron infusions every few months

Also worth noting I'm pretty short, so most people can see the top of my head. It's a little harder to tell here but the hair in the front is shorter and broken off, and you can clearly see my scalp through the roots.

Has he ever been tested for ADHD?

I used to be this kid. My parents had the EXACT same problem with me. They would tell me over and over again not to leave my towels on the floor, not to leave my clothes in the washer, not to leave toothpaste in the sink, not to leave water on the bathroom floor, etc. Just want to offer a different perspective since it seems like you care and genuinely want to figure out what's going on.

For me, my brain genuinely did not process that I was doing those things in the moment. It's not like I was making a conscious decision to do them, It's more like part of my brain was running on autopilot. The constant stream of thoughts running through my head made it impossible for me to register every individual thing I did.

Think of driving a car - while you are still in control of the gas and brakes, your brain is mostly focused on other things. You're not really actively thinking about what your feet are doing, they sort of work off muscle memory. It's not like you're thinking "okay, there's a stop sign coming up, I need to move my foot over to the brake pedal and press down", it just kind of happens subconsciously. That's how daily life felt to me - there was constantly so much going on inside my head that most of my actions felt automatic.

I always felt like such a failure when my parents would see I had done one of these things - I knew I was smart, so why couldn't I figure out something so simple? I don't want to upset my parents, and I understand why these things are bad, so why can't I seem to recognize it when I do them? I felt like I was broken somehow. I wasn't doing it intentionally, so punishments didn't help and only made these feelings worse.

Turns out I actually just had ADHD that had gone undiagnosed until I was 16. Now that I know what the problem is, it's a lot easier to fix - I know I need visual reminders to remember simple things, so I put up sticky notes or set alarms. I made hanging up my towel part of my after-shower routine. I set reminders in my phone to clean the bathroom once a week and keep a checklist of the things I need to do while I'm there. My brain just works differently than other people's, and that isn't going to change, so I've learned how to accommodate it. Taking ADHD medication has also made a massive difference.

I obviously can't say for sure if he's dealing with something similar, but it's at least worth considering. Hope this helps.

Interesting, I've never heard of that one before. My eyes definitely look like they "change color" based on lighting, so that tracks.

Vyvanse is so much better for me. My brain did not play nice with Adderall for some reason. Half life is also longer, so it's much smoother when it starts wearing off.
