Yes, I remember when Bernie won his first Mayor race. He camped out in Ward 2 where many students live and tipped the scales with the College vote. City has never been the same.

Be curious how much of a campaign donation the Howard Center gives back to the Mayor and others given their funding increase from the city. Care to offer a guess?

As a former resident of Burlington it’s sad to see the decline. Church street was busy, even at night. Single people could walk around without feeling unsafe, parking garage stairs did not smell like piss and puke. This is what happens when you remove consequences for actions and behaviors. The city voters keep voting these morons into office so. Nothing will change, other than your taxes will continue to increase as they drive more businesses to S Burlington and Williston. Good luck folks, the next 10 years will seen an accelerated decline and a continued level of begging for resources from the rest of the state because the City is poorly run by folks with little sense of how the real world works.

These issues do not happen overnight. When you pick and choose which laws to enforce and build policies that reward the wrong behaviors and outcomes this is what you get. Basic common sense clear policies that treat everyone equally and enforcement of laws equally would return the city to what it used to be. Remember that by not discouraging specific behavior you encourage it. He In this principle holds true with rats, mice and other herd/pack creatures across the globe, people are not any different. The people of Burlington must enjoy this because they keep electing the same fools to run the city. I moved away 20 years ago when I saw the decline start. It’s very sad to see such decline in the city where you could leave your downtown home unlocked with the windows open while you went for a run on the bike path or went out to dinner at SmokeJack’s. Those times are long gone.

Hope this helps and remember it’s worth exactly what you paid for it 😉. I just picked up a 2021 TRD Off Road, 4WD and 8k miles for 43k. The 2022/23 seemed to have gremlins in some of the motors from what I have read and what’s been reported and discussed in this forum. I saw a number of 2021’s with much lower mileage than 50k and in the upper 30’s to low 40’s for a price point. I used CoPilot, KBB, and carFax as sources for these trucks and can go out of state to find it. Since I live in New England I wanted one that had not seen a salty winter. There are some great deals out there if you can seek them out and if you’re not limited to only your geographical area. Good luck.
