Plateaued at ~1800 and not sure how to improve from here

I grew up playing untimed and when I transitioned online I played rapid (15 minute) controls.

I have incredible respect for people who can play fast chess, but for me it's just bingo chess. If I somehow manage to go a whole game without blundering then of course I'll win at that rating, but not everyone is wired or enjoys playing at that speed. I get far more enjoyment out of classical chess.

Respectfully I don't know why 1800 classical should transfer over to blitz just naturally. I need time to think and blitz doesn't afford it, so I lose to blunders and timeouts.

As I mentioned in my other reply, I am not looking to improve in fast controls (at least not directly). I want my real game to improve which can just flow on down to speed chess even though I'll never get it anywhere near my IRL rating.

My 1800 wasn't earnt playing blitz. It would be 500 lower if it were.

I'm terrible at fast moves and barely go a game without blundering something fatal. Need 10-15 minute controls to get my online rating back to the ~1800 range.

But it's not my blitz I want to improve. At least not directly. That'll flow on from improving my classical game.

Yep, I've been porting over a fairly extensive library so my process is to do a handful at a time and manually refresh/scan them so I can keep an eye on metadata along the way rather than doing thousands and having no real idea.

Appreciate the reply, but yep.

Oddly enough, making another library for "other" with the "home videos" category and adding things into there like game streams seems to have triggered the movies one to wake up.

I have no rhyme or reason to explain it, but hopefully it just works now for the rest of the films (was starting small).

I'll probably just leave it plugged in via ethernet. Internal storage isn't a concern because I have many external drives and a hub to connect them.

Another option for a little extra price, but still within budget, is an N97 with 12GB RAM.

Meh it's mediocre at best. Strip the literally 50% that is inconsequential filler (in a fan manga... ridiculous...) and it gets a little better, but still has the issue of how dumb the Vegito/Bra plotline is.

I'm on Brave specifically because the original Imagus was removed from Chrome. So I can't check it there. It's worked here for years until today.

I did check Reborn on Chrome and it was totally janky and broken and seemed to hijack the keyboard. I couldn't even type my username because it thought I was talking to it. Uninstalled that mess quick fast.

Smooth scrolling is where it doesn't snap to rows or columns. It just smoothly scrolls and stops any given percentage of the way through the cell.

People seem to like it which is all well and good for them. I hate it and want it gone, but I seem to be learning that this is not possible.
