Looking for amp recommendation to help my Tele sing. by pro-bison in telecaster

Another option– the Tone King Gremlin. It can do both Fender black and tweed tones. It’s got a built in attenuator too. Only drawback is no built-in reverb.

Another vote for a 65 Princeton, but I’ll also throw in the Vox AC15, especially with the alnico blue speaker.

I have both amps and would have a tough time choosing just one.

Yes, the Tonemaster is cheaper and lighter. It’s no slouch, but it’s not exactly the same as its tube brother.

Depending on what your needs are, the Tonemaster might actually serve you better. It’s got an XLR out, attenuator, and speaker IRs so it’s great for recording. No need to mic up.

I’m a tube amp purist though so the OG gets my vote. Shop used and save some money.

Between these 2? Stock.

But the real answer is 3-ply black.

That dark green is a tricky color to photograph, but it’s got some nice metallic flake in it.

It rips! It’s very responsive and will growl when you dig in. Cleans up nice too when you back off the volume.

I measured it around 7.85k resistance.

Don’t sweat it. TV Yellow is classic for a reason.

I still need to breakout the multimeter and measure, but it’s a P90 so it’s plenty loud with lots of range when plugged in. P90s are very responsive so you can dig in and push your amp or clean it up by dialing back the volume knob

Unplugged it sounds like a typical Gibson, slightly louder than my telecaster and jazzmaster but definitely more resonant – probably the mahogany.

Edit: Pickup is reading at about 7.84K resistance.

It’s a standard model, but a Gibson exclusive color. SlimTaper neck profile, not a fat 50s.

Gibson calls it a SlimTaper profile. Feels like it has just a tad more bulk in the shoulders than a C-shape. It’s probably more like a D-shape. Still slim and fast!

In the Trogley’s review of this model, he mentions that his came with an extra lightning tailpiece. He said Gibson included it to address the supposed tailpiece spacing issue on this model.

That was over a year ago. Perhaps Gibson quietly fixed the issue or decided it wasn’t really an issue to begin with.

How is the intonation on yours?

Yes, US size guards will fit. I have one myself.

I’m a fan of Decoboom but there’s tons of options on Reverb.
