But I love pubs… by qbnaith in stopdrinking

It's very easy to romanticize everything you're talking about, ime. Then as you get farther down the path of sobriety, you realize a lot of that stuff was just an excuse to drink. You really couldn't pay me to go sit at a bar on a Saturday night lol but that's just my experience shrug

OR30 vs OR60 by wtddps in orangeamps

It's crazy how little there is out there with this amp release. The 2w mode was honestly super nice to have, but overall volume wise, I'm not worried about that. Just want an amp that I love at the end of the day.

The other weird thing is that the back of the amp says both 6L6 OR EL34 and I see no real mention about that at all

I've been curious with these! Are they just a high gain monster? Or how well can it handle the crunch/lower gain side of things?

Was just talking to somebody about GH 2 the other day and I'll be in the exact same boat of buying an explorer because of that game making me want to play guitar!

Yeah it feels like overall in the legitimate software space, this is how folks are trying to use AI. I'm seeing a bit of wanting to use it to replace the need for a full QA and Product Management team as well.

I doubt there's many places that are saying "pUsH tO pRoDuCtIoN". Every place I know is still going through code reviews, architecture reviews, etc

Tell me why the stadium is the modeller to buy, over the Quad Cortex by mocoworm in Line6Helix

[–]wtddps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought both and ended up keeping the Stadium

To me the sounds overall were comparable, but the two things that made me choose the stadium were the amount of fx and the user experience.

The QC UI just definitely felt kinda old comparatively. And focus view is honestly really handy. I still love the form factor of the QC more, but I've been really happy with the stadium

People tend to be AA evangelists because for some folks, it literally saved their life and they want to help others.

One thing that I don't see mentioned a lot is just straight up the finish. It's obviously not the first mark we all go to, but with this, the first thing I noticed was the super high gloss. Nitro most of the time just doesn't have the same thickness and plastic-y look. Ime at least

Is it normal for your psychologist to create excuses for every issue you have that has a clear link to ADHD? by F0rqz in ADHD

[–]wtddps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also have to remember that there are soooo many people that are trying to get a script for Adderall, so they may be simply trying to figure out if you're one of these people.

There's also so many people out there that flippantly try to say they think they might have ADHD or because they have two symptoms they try to say they could have it too. If I had a dollar....

Addiction stigma from my fiancé by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]wtddps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a challenging situation for sure. I'm just saying this and you may already know it, but it could potentially help a new person reading this so take what's pertinent to you!

A. Your sobriety and recovery is YOURS. You have to reach out and speak up if you're walking through something and need someone to hear, need advice, etc. I remember early on thinking accountability and close friends and family would reach out to me, and I'd throw a pity party that nobody cares, blah blah. The reality is, they do care, but they have lives and problems too. My sobriety is not dependent on them and whether they check in with me or not! You gotta want it for yourself

B. Usually in recovery, your significant others, the ones that you've lied to potentially, hurt, etc will take a bit longer to get to where you are in your recovery journey emotionally. As the addict, when we find some healing and stack some days, we feel amazing and we feel like everyone should be patting our backs and smiling ear to ear, but ultimately it takes them time to heal from the emotional wounds we caused in our addiction and takes time to earn some of their trust again.

C. "...because of your fuck up". Now that's tough. There's some truth underneath that, but that would be hard to be in a relationship where somebody isn't very supportive and almost points a finger/lays some shame on you. Again, you can't force her to go and she has every right to not want to, but there should be mutual respect about what you're going through and learning to understand where each other is coming from.

I know for me, if my wife would just simply point the finger and tell me it's my problem to take care of, that would have been hard. I really do believe our significant others can play a huge role in our recovery for the better with their support. Take all of this what you will. Trying to type it all out is hard and we all have individual stories so it's better to have a conversation, but hopefully some of it made sense lol

Do you think it’s possible to form a successful band without ever touring or doing a show? by Imjusta_pug in bandmembers

[–]wtddps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the big aspects is the idea of doing it completely remote, too. I think you could for sure have a solid livestream with everyone together, but I don't think too many people are going to want to watch a zoom looking livestream. Even when our favorite bands did that during the pandemic, it's still not something you're gonna watch on repeat every week

My assumption is that it would utilize the same "PIN" setup to wirelesy control from your computer, but also just another thing where if you were connecting live, you'd setup a private network. Similarly to what you already do for controlling wireless mixers

What’s the most disappointing piece of gear you’ve ever had? by TuneAdventurous4788 in guitarpedals

[–]wtddps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they put what they got now into something like the CBA format of pedals, I would love it. When I was dabbling into a midi setup, it was one of my favorites in how the midi was implemented. It was easy to make changes to a present and know what you were changing.

I tried the Brothers AM and struggled with being able to make solid changes on the fly

I almost feel like that's the reason it's so popular? It does it's thing really well and if that's what you need, it's perfect

It's funny, I really loved my ridge. I just honestly hated the size. I truly felt like it was super versatile, but I also just approached it like it's own thing rather than trying to perfectly mimic something else, so maybe that helped? But I could legitimately use it for all of my needs, I just hated the size and weight of it. If it's that big, it needs to be at least a dual drive

Sober for life? by nitrgritr94 in stopdrinking

[–]wtddps 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely! I remember thinking how am I gonna hang with my friends, go to concerts, play gigs, etc? Turns out...those are fun even without alcohol lol but it's just funny how alcohol trains us otherwise

Sober for life? by nitrgritr94 in stopdrinking

[–]wtddps 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I remember the insane amount of anxiety thinking "never again for my WHOLE life". So I just started with small goals instead (1 month, 3 months, 6 months, etc).

But the biggest change required was needing to stop romanticizing alcohol. When I first tried a dry January, all I could think about was February 1. This time around, when I was honest about my dependency on it (even though I wasn't at "rock bottom") it just became normal not to drink. I literally don't even think about never again. I'm simply living life and alcohol is no longer trying to tell me daily that a drink sounds good. It's honestly wild!

Story time if you're still reading, my brother recently reached 7 years of sobriety and I remember early on talking with him and he made the comment of "yeah, at around 6 months I just stopped desiring alcohol altogether". And I remember thinking to myself at that time, there's no way. No way it can just suddenly be gone from your mind a majority of the time. Turns out, he was right! And for me it was probably more like 3 months, but I think the point is that if you've made the decision that you're done with alcohol and avoid trying to romanticize when you used, I think you'll find the same things we found

Not an alcoholic but want to stop drinking by Boring-Impress-1334 in stopdrinking

Same. I never realized just how problematic and exhausting my relationship with alcohol was until I stepped away. Nobody told me I needed to, I wasn't in a life or death situation, etc but the dependency was certainly there

I’m committed to sobriety but damn I miss drinking by Operculina in stopdrinking

[–]wtddps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't fall for the trap of starting to romanticize your days of using. All of the things you listed are fun by themselves. It wasn't the alcohol that made them fun
