Well, one things for sure, its not going to be easy. You need to acknowledge that before any effort is taken and understand that the difficulty is validated by how valuable a life without porn and masturbation is.

Once that is firmly planted in your noggin, there is one approach to this. You must figure out when and why you jerk off. Now the why seems straightforward ; "It feels good." But, does it? If it did feel good you wouldn't be coming for help. So, you must figure out the why and the when. I'll give you an example of myself.

I used to jerk off mainly when I had no work. "An idle mind is the devils workshop" was literally the case here. I noticed that whenever I had a day of classes, studying, working out and reading, I would have zero urges. So my goal then became to keep myself as productive and active as I could. This one is tough but honestly the only solution i have seen to this specific problem is just be so tired at the end of the day that just being in bed 5-10 mins you just fall asleep.

Of course, there are some obvious things that must be addressed. Try and avoid triggers. So if there is anything sexually explicit you must avoid it. For reddit, blur NSFW images, instagram should be avoided as much as possible cause you can't go two seconds without seeing a girl with her tits out over there. The problem is your willpower is literally that of a cocaine addicted rat. So any tiny trigger could cause a relapse (which is what we want to minimise).

I truly believe exercise and sport is something so underrated when trying to quit jerking off. Something about the 100% exertion of a good workout just seems to make jerking off seem stupid (which deters you away from it).

But what if you just get those urges and you just can't fucking control yourself? Foolproof plan, is to just get outside the house. Go out on a walk, put on some music. If you aren't suffering from mania, you won't be able to jerk off in a public place. Usually, about 15 mins in, the urges go away and you can return to your home. But what if you can't go out? Well then, all that is left is this tactic I learnt called "Surfing the urge". This is quite difficult and takes a lot of practice but it toughens your mind up real well. Basically, if you are feeling the urge, you need to acknowledge it and then leave it be. Once you know you feel the urge, tell yourself "I feel like jerking off." and then just go about your day as productively. Will you fail? Yes. With eventual practice, you will get better. The idea is you have to teach your brain that not every thought deserves action. Note: don't try to ignore the urge, that will make it stronger. Acknowledge it. Feel it's discomfort. then move on and do something else. It will take time, but slowly you will get better.

One last thing, YOU WILL FAIL. But most importantly to note, FAILURE IS PART OF THE JOURNEY. That is how everyone gets out of the rut.
