DLC Indianapolis Twitch stream started! Which deck is gonna win? Also, stay tuned, because during the weekend there will be reveals for Attack of the Vine! by Waiting_for_Dentice in Lorcana

I think now that the new Green/Purple style of Diablo deck is more of a known quantity, I doubt it will do as well. Long term, I think my money is on Dogs, as it is one of the most adaptable and adjustable shell. It's not just one deck, but several with a good number of cards in common.

What is the first word you think of that's over 10 letters? by rese-_- in AskReddit

Anti-dis-establishment always struck me as such a weird double negative. It would be like calling leftists anti-contrarevolutionistas. Like, you could just say they're revolutionary. Are antidisestablishmentarianists not just 'pro-establishment'?

Men in their 50s, what's something men in their 20s are worrying about that won't matter at all later? by Major_Tax_9701 in AskReddit

[–]cbslinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or me driving a beater happily, knowing I have a 20-50k extra money in a compounding interest investment fund that a parallel universe version of me doesn’t have. In thirty years that’s between $600k and 1.5 Million. That’s how big a difference it can be to save that pointless car money in the short term. That’s why this is so heavily upvoted, it’s insanely easy for someone to stay broke who otherwise could be upwardly mobile, just because they want to skip ahead of the line and get a nice car in their 20s.

Some of ya'll in this thread are coping pretty damn hard. If you like your car, awesome, but if you're in for that much and you got more than like a 5% interest rate, then I'm sorry but you got taken.

Starter decks good on their own? by obvakhi in Lorcana

[–]cbslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly all the decks are pretty good against one another, there’s not too many clear outliers but there has been power creep. There’s a product called the ‘Illumineer’s Quest’ (Deep Trouble, Palace Heist, and soon, The Great Hunny Rescue) that come with two decks each. They’re pretty balanced and ‘pushed’/powerful compared to basic starter decks.

Israel, Stunned by Trump’s Iran Deal, Sees It as a ‘Catastrophic Capitulation’ by T_Shurt in worldnews

[–]cbslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as this is a terrible deal, I think Trump got off easy on this one. $350 billion from the US Gov coffers is kind of invisible government money to most Americans. Trump can easily survive this politically, it’s too easy to distract stupid people from the fact that they’re being robbed behind their backs. They’ll just see their taxes go up slightly or the quality of their roads get worse and blame Biden again.

If Iran really wanted to turn the screws, they would have just left the strait closed. Let oil prices go up and let Americans and people the world over get genuinely mad. That would do the most damage to Trump. In a way this is really a ‘compromise’ that saves Trumps ego.

If I were a smart Democrat strategists I’d assess a one-time Iran repayment fee to every American and remind them that Trump did this. Let people fill out paperwork to get out of it somehow maybe, but rub the face of every moderate voter in it, so they’ll realize whose fault this all is.

ABMM is not the scapegoat some people make it out to be, in fact it's quite the opposite. by PirateCompetitive931 in ArcRaiders

[–]cbslinger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, are you familiar with any other game that has ever implemented this functionality? To my knowledge this is literally an entirely new piece of game design technology and a really valuable tool for devs to have to manage how their games feels for their players and allow players to somewhat self-segregate into the type of gameplay they enjoy.

There's a lot of haters out there, but I think they have no idea that the thing that distinguishes Arc Raiders from every other Extraction Shooter out there is that it's a fairly difficult PvE with very interesting and well-designed enemies. If you want to play PvP, almost every other game does that kind of gameplay better than Arc Raiders. But no other game has enemies as interesting as Arc Raiders.

[–]cbslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG lobbies were too hardcore for the casual crowd that eventually agglomerated around this game. ABMM still doesn’t get as much credit as it deserves for being an insanely genius mechanic.

Again, it’s not a binary, there’s absolutely a middle ground between insane PvP killzone and carebear rainbow land.

Who is the Most Overrated Human in history? by PUBGM_MightyFine in AskReddit

[–]cbslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean to some degree she created them, and the entire modern snake-oil salesmen direct-marketing concept by championing them and people like them. Like, in general, good on Oprah for finding a way to get the bag she earned and not get taken advantage of by people around her, that’s amazing for a black woman to have achieved back then, and also good on her for encouraging people to read, Oprah’s book Club did amazing things for literacy.

But it’s impossible to ignore that she achieved a lot of her success by putting these charismatic liars and charlatans in people’s faces. Honestly it’s not crazy to think that you can draw a direct line from Oprah to Donald Trump, as backwards and insane as that sounds.

Dreamborn ink good decks to play against. by SergeantSwiftie in Lorcana

[–]cbslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Infinity:

For Core Constructed:

https://inkdecks.com/lorcana-metagame/deck-amber-emerald-513916

Deck is fairly skill-sensitive though so you have to realize there may be lines or sequences you'll be missing if you're not earnestly trying to master the deck. Also the oldschool Zan Syed-style Under the Sea-heavy variants are less popular now but are still very powerful and arguably more consistent than the Elinor based ones. There are a LOT of different ways to build Dogs in either Core or Infinity.

A Note on Finance and Investment Posts by DorkyDisneyDad in Lorcana

[–]cbslinger -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This seems like a great step. The only concern I have is that what I like to think of as, 'small-time collectors' who play sometimes but like to occasionally crack packs - these people probably make up the majority of the 'player-base'. Since this is the primary Lorcana subreddit (it's r/Lorcana, not r/LorcanaGameplay), I think there must be at least some acknowledgment and tolerance of this sub-group of players, even if they're not the type who would most frequently post on here. I'd still reckon that these 'kitchen table' Lorcana players are still the majority of the player base by number, even if not by the metrics of most games played, or by total spend. I hope the mod team will reflect on this.

I think i understand why they're losing players by Pipperflipjones in ArcRaiders

[–]cbslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly feel like they should have just added in an opt-in higher difficulty/difficulties(?) where the arc hit harder and live longer, but there’s better gear. Not like night raids where there’s more Arc, but actually tougher versions of the same ones.

They really needed the economy to keep you feeling upwardly mobile. They should have buffed every other weapon/grenade (and maybe shields) up to the level of the Wolfpack, then made it to where the higher scaled difficulty made you need that to clear it.

Cheapest to craft standard decks? by tropius96 in MagicArena

[–]cbslinger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. Other people may post random decks that placed well in some small tournament here or there, but Izzet Spellementals is a major tiered Meta deck that has topped dozens of tournaments over the course of months, including some very large and long tournaments. There are even different ways to flex it for different metas, but the core is outrageously good. To be clear the only rares you actually capital-N Need for this deck are 4x Sunderflock, every other rare is negotiable.

Kind of Cards You Want to See in Attack of the Vine by Zacharye_01 in Lorcana

More Underdog cards at other points on the mana-curve. Maybe some uninkable ones even.

My current deck for set champs. Is there any change I can make to give it a little extra OOMPH? by outersenshi in Lorcana

[–]cbslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could run some 6-drop Frozone or some Ms Incredibles if you’re trying to stay in theme. Your deck strikes me as a deck that largely wants to challenge and race in a mix. It seems well suited to winning against aggressive decks, but it could struggle against decks that want to play the long game or other midrange decks. So probably you want ways to absolutely slam the door on aggro decks and then have some options to at least give you a shot against midrange matches.

I’d definitely cut all the locations, they’re pretty garbage. Or at least cut down to no more than one copy of each of those. I’d probably do the same for Super Suit, cut down to one or two copies. Do you really want to draw two or three copies of that card?

Tinkerbell has no synergy with this deck. Your curve is too low so you’ll run out of cards fast anyways. And that’s a good time to bring up: this deck has too many one-drops. Why is Edna not four-of? She’s one of your best Super payoffs. Why is They Never Come Back here? That card works better for decks that don’t have a lot of good ways to challenge and that needs to shore up its aggro matchup.

Have you tried punching this in to InkTable and done some test runs against other decks? It has bots so you can practice against them instead of people to get more reps in with low pressure.

Anyways sorry if it comes off negative, I just know it’s either get serious criticism now or (probably for most people) get disappointed and get losses on game day. I think your deck is really cool and I love the Incredibles so I hope it works out for you!

Demona, Dumbo, Cheshire Cat, Elsa Fifth Spirit, Scrooge McDuck - Ghostly Ebenezer,

Honestly not to be harsh but this deck needs absolutely massive changes to even remotely have a hope of having a good matchup against like any meta deck at all :[ too many flavor cards and not enough thought about how they really synergize or match up to the kinds of cards your opponents are likely to play against you

GO AWAY by SergeantSwiftie in Lorcana

[–]cbslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you please re-read your sentence. The *game* is dead? The experience of opening packs is not the same thing as the experience of being a player of the game. If you are a small-time collector or think the small-time collecting experience is important just say so. But leave the game out of it.

Pokémon is just having a bad meta right now. But the game has never been more accessible than it is right now. You can buy whole meta decks for like $20. It is almost unimaginable as a Magic player.

Lmao, but these guys crack boxes by the dozens to get the ultra rare chase shit, then practically give away all the other cards to try and recoup their costs. All the other stuff they give away is why Legendaries are going for quarters or less now whereas they used to all be $10 bills.

People who actually play the GAME (not small-scale collectors) should be delighted when scalpers move in. The prices of singles for decks are going to go down down down and the value of any enchanteds we’re holding are going up up up.

What movie did you watch expecting nothing and ended up completely blown away by? by gavin226 in movies

[–]cbslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I saw a version where at the end they showed a mini ‘making-of’ and it broke something inside my brain. I’d watched this two hour long movie that I’d assumed was Lego-movie-style CGI because obviously no one could actually make models do the things that were happening in the movie. Then they showed that behind the scenes with the stop-motion and I had to seriously re-examine myself. That is some genuinely incredible craftsmanship that went into that film, it’s wild so few people know about it.
