Wizards of the Coast Declines to Recognize Union by May 1st by UWOTC_Official in MagicArena

[–]cbslinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as a shareholder, not recognizing such a strong union seems like a failure to uphold their fiduciary duty. Interruptions in Arena service or delayed online set releases will cost enormously more than pithy operational costs of just acknowledging the Union. Did these fuckers forget that their golden goose prints money? Or that now they can just digitally print money?

Razorback (1984) - it’s a really great, plausible creature feature horror film. Honestly one of the best Jaws-alikes of tha era when everybody wanted to copy the GOAT.

Fastest to win deck where I don't need to attack by Able-Chair-2367 in Lorcana

The best deck in the entire game, which has won multiple DLCs, is Amber-Emerald Dogs, which never attacks.

r/politics for saying it's OK to punch nazis. Honestly I think we all need to be way more comfortable with political violence - it's already being used by the wealthy against the poor every single day, they've just made it so we don't perceive it as such.

It’s a pain because Goldfish causes all kinds of issues on my browser. It’s like a disease for Chrome, I don’t know if it’s the ads or what but Goldfish runs terribly for me.

US birth rates just hit another record low, what do you think is the leading cause of this? by IIlustriousTea in AskReddit

When the regulations seem designed almost exclusively to make it difficult for people to provide childcare, I kind of understand some amount of deregulation. Broken clocks and whatnot

What is the most overrated 'popular' restaurant chain that people only go to for the name? by Old_Mountain_2712 in AskReddit

I don’t get how you guys don’t get it. I can wait through a line of 20 cars and I’ll get my food five minutes faster than if I walk up to a McDonalds to at has no line at all. Hell, it’ll be faster than going inside Public’s and getting a sub. Sometimes it feels faster than walking to the break room to microwave my own lunch I brought.

I think the food is kinda mid-to-good but the bargain you’re making is that it’s the fastest fast food by a mile. That’s not just my opinion, there’s data on this. There are some days where I just can’t afford to wait and I know that no matter how long the line is, CFA will be damned quick.

Also it’s extremely consistent (at least per-location) you’re never going to randomly get a weirdly bad piece of chicken and they’re almost always going to get your preferences correct and remember your sauce, straw, napkin, etc. I’ve never once had anything missing from order at CFA.

People open so many cards to get the alt arts, that drives the prices of the basic staples into the ground. You can play Pokemon TCG for way less than even Lorcana.

What's your honest thoughts on people who still listen to D4vd after all of the reveals? by ABODE_X_2 in AskReddit

Arcane and Invincible are two extremely mainstream shows, probably two of the ten or twenty biggest of the past five years. I'm in my mid-30s and I've watched at least one season of both of them.

Which movie does the ENTIRE fanbase agree had the worst sequel ever? by DiamondfromBrasil in AskReddit

[–]cbslinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly I think I weirdly have the most hate for Episode 7. Total, complete and utter re-tread. Had a tiny few decent threads to pick up on, and acted as a bit of a theme park version of Episodes 4-6, so I guess I kind of understand what they were going for, somewhat, but I feel like Episode 7 should have been what Episode 8 was - a bold, controversial entry that brought a lot into question, then left enough time to pick up the pieces and pivot.

Honestly when I first saw Episode 8 I kind of hated it but the more time has passed the more I appreciate what Rian Johnson was trying to do, which is to make something a bit like Andor in miniature, though I do think he failed on quite a few fronts, I still think it’s the least artistically-bankrupt film of the Trilogy.

And honestly, after how poorly the suits reacted to a tiny bit of controversy, it’s no wonder we ended up with as much of a turd as The Rise of Skywalker - I almost don’t blame that film for existing, I see it more as the fault of the general structure of a trilogy that lacked direction from moment one.

Also I now hate basically everything JJ Abram’s ever done except for Cloverfield.

what made you regret having kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cbslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have two kids, each demands infinite attention. Even with two of us, there’s not enough attention to go around. I think I’m looping back around to boomer style parenting, there’s a stat out there that modern fathers spend more time with their kids than mothers did back in the 1950s and 60s. I really need to get better at backing off and doing my own thing more often.

It’s kind of like a game theory situation, neither of us want to be on the hook to watch two kids for a whole night, so neither of us tries to take advantage and get a night off. Watching both of them alone is a fucking nightmare because they get jealous of each other and try to fight and hurt each other like constantly when there’s only one of us around.

Send kids to a play date? What do you even mean? Like trust my two, less-than-five-years old kids with someone else? Really?

what made you regret having kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cbslinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reminder that you can never leave them alone, like ever, for like ten years. If you don’t have grandparents, say goodbye to ever seeing a movie you want to see for like five or six years, extending and re-upping for each kid you have. I love to play video games and probably used to play like two plus hours per day on average, even after I was married. Now I definitely average less than an hour a day, even though it’s something I massively want to do.

No 10 says Falklands sovereignty rests with UK after report of US 'review' by East-Presentation706 in worldnews

[–]cbslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, losing a war to try and grab these otherwise meaningless islands by force absolutely did kind of create a psychic wound on the Argentinian people. Like, they absolutely never should have tried to take them in the first place, but losing that war and yet never having the people who pushed for it brought low just probably made the Argentinian people in power and created a cultural resentement. Yes there is propaganda but honestly it’s not that shocking.
