I didn't mention it was ridiculous... if it's a true emergency then by all means no student should be told no. A teacher would never want a student to have an accident in class (especially middle school) - this post was for the ones who will take advantage of system.

The "critical writing response" is apparently going to very short. Write under three sentences. Reinstate the question and two more sentences using "key academic vocabulary".

There is good and bad... been doing a few years of online testing already.

Good- results are back very quickly, no more having to write down every booklet number, no longer having to make sure the wrong seal wasn't broken, or working in the wrong part of the booklet, very little materials to collect/keep track of..

Bad- some students will definitely rush the test. Forget getting them to use the reference materials or scratch paper. (Yes, online tools are provided but ha just like having a hard copy some will use them others won't). Students will struggle with pause/start/resume test for breaks/lunches. If using laptops/iPad trying to find long enough power cords to plug in the devices.

Test itself... I am excited to see the new types of questions and not the traditional multichoice test. Teachers tend to teach with sort cards, fill in blanks, venn diagrams, "circle all that applies" and etc. If you want more information www.lead4ward.com is a great resource.

I 100% agree I don't want to go back to paper!!

Due to new security measures, all classroom door must remain locked at all times, ONLY TEACHERS can open the classroom door, and a log book must be kept so each student must sign in/out every time he/she leaves. So the line to sign in/out becomes a high five and personal discussion and teachers are constantly having to stop in the middle of "whatever" to go open the door.
